that sounds great Lesley, you are definately right about them sensing tension it took us a while to get the hang of it but when star and amber first came to us (as a pair) and we found that they didn't like each other at all we were both holding our breath everytime they met in a doorway! Things are much better now and they just choose to stay away from each other but both get on very well with out other two! Good luck to the lovely Pagan and I hope you get your new baby unit soon!

I'm very lucky Dawn, all my residents cats are very laid back and used to seeing new arrivals so it doesn't really phase them.

I think cats can sense when humans are tense and will "play" on it so the calmer you are in these situations, the calmer the cats will be.

Also, always make sure you give plenty of fuss to the current occupants as well as the new resident.

I am definitely no expert and I know some people have alot of trouble with introductions so I guess I have just been very lucky. The only real bad one I have had was Hershe recently. Stella definitely took a dislike to her, but I moved Hershe to live with the downstairs cats (we live in a three storey townhouse, the cats downstairs can go out during the day), and she settled in fine down there, although she will not go out, just sits in the window. I would not say they are all great friends but they all find their little spaces and co-habit amicably and some do form very special friendships.

He's lovely. I think oriental cats are generally pretty handsome looking.

Now the excitement of the Auction is over, I would like to introduce my latest resident, and he is definitely staying.

Pagan is a 2 1/2 year old black Oriental that Dawn has been scheming to get for me since we came back from the Cat Show. He has been used as a stud but is due to lose his occupational hardware shortly.

He is a little skinny at the moment but the way he is eating me out of house and home, I am sure that will change shortly.

Thanks to Dawn for sorting out my scrummy new boy.

I will try to post some better piccies of him later. Black cats are hard enough to photograph but Orientals are all ears.
