NO LONGER AVAILABLE WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER RESCUE

Wow! Can you imagine oh's face if I brought him to meet her. He likes his cats round, round-faced and chunky/long haired. That'd confuse him!
Good luck finding a special home for her.
I love the name, it's so fitting and one of Queen Nefertiti's other titles was "Mistress of Sweetness"
-
Wow ... a £300 donation is alot of money! Is that correct?
-
:Luv: Aww bless her, it's good that you're ensuring she gets the correct home :) best of luck for her xx

Have you contacted the Sphynx Rescue association to see if they can help with finding this little one a new home: http://sphynxcatassociation.co.uk/committee.htm ..... See the paragraph at the bottom of the page
....We also offer a Sphynx Welfare and Rehome Service, all over the UK. Although Rehomes are few and far between, sometimes, for various reasons, older Sphynx need a new home, and the Sphynx Cat Association is happy to help, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yes Sam its correct I am not letting her go to anyone without the breed experience, if the donation was low in line with my others I would be unindated with calls for her !!.I have asked what I feel is right to protect this girl to ensure she goes to a breed experienced owners.Hope this makes sense. :thanks:
-
I don't usually like this breed, but Neffi is lovely. Hope she gets a new home soon. :)
-
She does look quite a sweetie :Luv2: :Luv2:
Don''t you have to oil their skin to stop it getting too dry ?

Can you not just say no to them? Coughing up the cash wont make someone better, £150 isnt exactly low :shy: sorry but i find that a buying fee not a charitable donation amount

Well you are intital to your opinion but anyone who knows me and my rescue wont think that.I am doing what I think is right for her.
-
I personally think you are being very wise to up the donation it will stop all the time wasters from applying to adopt her,I know the extra money won't guarantee that she goes to the right home, but that is what a home check is for.I personally think she needs to go to a home where there are other Sphynxs, that way you will at least know that the home has knowledge of the breeds needs.
Sphynx need special care and if they don't get it can quickly become quite ill.

Thank you Kelly I have been in tough with the Spyhnx Cat Association and had a reply just waiting for the re homing coordinator to contact me.Also had a ex vet nurse with devon rex cats, who has had Sphynx in the past wanting to adopt her. She is in to be spayed Monday and will be chipped at the same time although I am a qualified in-planter I feel this need doing whilst she asleep

:) fingers crossed xx

It will also stop genuine experienced homes applying :( many would never pay hundreds for a rescue cat, bald or not.
Iv learnt that people with money are no better than anyone else and often timewasters because they buy their way through life, and expect to. If you get 50 calls for her then its easy enough to say no to those who arent suitable without it looking like a money orientated process. As you say thats what homechecks are for

Totally agree. Also just because somone has never owned a sphynx before doesn't necessarily mean that won't be good owners and care for her every need. Everyone has to start somewhere.
Keeping everything crossed that all goes well with the spay and chip and fingers crossed she will find a happy loving home very soon.

I think its something that is always going to have two sides with each side thinking their side is right. This is why a lot of rescues never openly admit they have certain breeds in their rescue as they know how heated discussions can be and the amount of rubbish time wasters they get from people who clearly are not the right home for them. These cats are usually kept within the cat world links, going to people that already have the breed and are well known in the cat world.
Good luck little girl, I so hope that you get a home with others of your breed,as you deserve to have some play friends and be spoilt for the rest of your life like all cats should be :)
-
The thing is though, - there are also some not so nice people around in the cat world too , don''t forget !
If i was looking for this kind of cat , i would have researched thoroughly first about the care and everything else they need before i even went to look for one.
I do they they are lovely though -i did ask this before but no-one answered -do they have to have some kind of oil on them to stop their skin becoming dry - only asking out of curiosity and i thought i had heard this somewhere a long while ago.?
Hope she gets a wonderful loving and knowledgeable home soon. :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
I think there are quite a few things, such as being careful about their exposure to the sun. I also read that they have to eat all the time to regulate their body temperature. Also special cleaning needs. Not the sort of cat for someone who just wants them as a fashion accessory or something to show off - they need to be with someone who is dedicated.

No Gill sorry I did not reply reg oil I have been really busy changing my rescue room to another room, plus been undated with calls and emails reg this girl , :censored: she does not need oil on her body, like all cats she makes her own oil to protect her skin thats why they need bathing regular to remove this when there is a heavy build up, this they also have no eyelashes , so need regular eye wipes a few times a day.As in Persians ect brushing and baby powder soaks up the excess oil from the skin.

yes Mark they have to have food and fresh water available 24/7 .The cleaning is just there eyes a few times a day due to having no eyelashes, Ears reg as they have no hair to stop any debris . and claws cut reg.I dont find it much different to the Persians I have really as they all get eye care daily, brushing daily and ears checked every 2 days.I always keep there claws cut to.Hope this helps. oh and your right about the sun they will burn easily :thanks:
