I was out today & drove passed a man in a lay-by who had loads of wooden cat & dog hand made plant holders for sale.
Did a U turn & went to see how much they were. £10! I couldnt resist!
Im sure he would sell a few on here.
Thing is ~ is it going to be a plant pot holder, or a holder for a cat???
-
awww isn't that cute!!
-
:evillaugh: cat holder for sure!
-
Fabulous!
-
Cute :)
Which area do you live in Sue?
I don't suppose you fancy doing an Ikea tent service? :evillaugh: (only joking  )
-
I would love one of those - it would make a great bed with a nice thick fleece inside .( for the cats ! )
-
Definately a cat holder ;D
Looks great and he sure would do a lot of business in hear I think
-
I want one.... The cats would love it! :Luv2:
-
Aww I want one of them, would be lovely, in fact I could line up a few and they could all have dorm beds
-
I have a feeling Sue live oop north somewhere so too far for me to go and pick a couple up :'(
-
Awww cute pics, I'd love one too
-
Arh Mark, the memories of the bulk IKEA tents!
These would be a little bit heavier to post!!
I will go & see if he is there today & ask him if he would take postal orders.
I live in Wakefield W.Yorks if anyone is near.
-
Next town to me, I was born there :) whereabouts in Wakefield were they being sold?
-
Where are you Janeyk?
If you know Newmiller Dam up the hill as if going to Barnsley & past St Pierre Motel, he is on a lay-by a little bit further up the road.
Don't think he is always there, but will ask when for you if he is there today.
-
I'm Barnsley but lived down the road from Newmillerdam until I got married. It's not far from me and I'll probably be going past there tomorrow so will have a lookie thanks! :)
-
Ahhh how cute are they ... you could even use it as a magazine rack ... assuming you could get the cats to stay out of it
-
I'm in Bradford - PLEASE find out when he's there for me and I will try and get there.
Mary
-
Went twice today to see if he was there but wasn't.
Will keep going each day. He's just got to come back!
-
Oh....i just love it ;D ;D ;D
-
Martin was there today with his little wooden friends.
Hope you like the pics.
The boxes measure 12" X 8" £10 but as you can see, there are some little puppies too £5. Hopefully he is going to make some kittens when he can.
If you are interested & desperate in having one as I was you can contact him by email ma014k7119@blueyonder.co.uk
I do have Martins phone no. so if you contact me by IM I can let you have it.
As you can imagine they are quite heavy so that would add to the cost if posted.
SO CUTE
-
Aw! They are lovely, you must tell him if he wants his business to fly through the roof he needs more diff cats! :Luv2:

I don't want to be a kill joy here peeps but I just want to remind everyone about the rules about "selling" ;)
Martin no one will object if you just happed to post pics of your lovely planters but please don't "advertise" ... I hope that makes sense.
BTW .... I love the Piggy planter :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Martin you are doing a fantastic job - I've been given your contact numbers and will be in touch asap for a cat and I think a duck too after seeing that one.
:welcome: to purrs by the way. Do you have any real live cats or just wooden ones?
Here's a pic of my Bonnie if you want to try and do a tabby.
Mary
-
hello mary,,,,thanks for the remarks......messages like that make it all worth while....
i havnt done a tabby like yours yet but i am sure willing to give him a go...
the only problem is because im not an artist and trying to get something exact is more or less impossible...it looks like a 3 year old has made it if you know what i mean,,,this is why i like to keep things pretty simple,,,(colour wise)but if you make the cat with a comical aspect to it then you tend to get away with it,,,,
i can certainly get the colours to match but as for the markings then they will be simpliefied...
can you please call tomorrow if possible as we are due to go out tonight and i can talk to you in more depth
again many thanks martin
-
ooops sorry yes we have 4 cats and 2 dogs
3 tabbys and 1 big ball of fluff(we are not sure what she is)i will put a pic up later and maybe someone will let us know
1 cross between a staffy and whippet and heally who is a staffy
-

Looking forward to seeing their pics! ;)
I would purrrsonally do a tabby cat like tiger markings changing the orange for a more toned down colour!
-
heres pics of my gang
-
Lovely cats :Luv2: and the "big ball of fluff" well she is a chocolate tortie :) some people call them " dark" torties as you can also get ligther one's :)
-
Aw! What lovely furbabes and the last one defo a longhair tortie.... :Luv2:
-
a tortie,,,wow thats new to us lot....
she ia actually the daughter of the 2nd cat down
she hates being brushed and rarely sits with us,,,very independant cat
-
and here is google and healy....
healy is scared of panther which is the top cat...
she takes no messing of the dogs
-
oooh you obviously like torties in your house a tortieshell cat and a tortieshell dog (although I think in dogs it's call brindle) ;)
All your furries are gorgoeus xxx :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Google, does he find many things? :evillaugh:
Tortoiseshell, named in reference to the blocks of colour on their coats, like a tortoise's shell I suppose :)
-
Aw! Has Healy got some whippet type of breed in there? Not too sure on dogs....
I have a longhaired tortie too....But she is lighter than yours....I also have a shorthair one which would be a choc one too! ;)
-
Martin maybe you could build a website, and get your link posted through here and also raise a little bit for cat rescue by giving a percentage of sales to the purrs donation funds? Would this easily be flat-packed for postage or does it have to come already made?
Just an idea ;)
-
Brilliant work Martin & i love your pets, especialy the long haired tortie ;D
-
hi ccmacey,,,,a website is a good idea and its something i have gave serious thought too...
however i am trying to build up enough capital to purchase equipment that would make the job far more easier and cost effective...
also i need a much bigger workshop and the list is endless to be honest but im taking it 1 step at a time...
that said when i do eventually get a website set up i would definatly love to help in any way i can to the cat rescue..
a few years back my mother was in the oldham branch of cats protection league and i used to help out at jumble sales,,sponsored walks etc,etc so i am prepared to get my hands dirty..
as for the packaging i have altered the design of the animals slightly...
before the tail used to be part of the back end of the animal but this meant if i had to post the item i had to use a huge box,,,so i decided the head and tail can be removed and everything now fits in a much smaller box...all the customer will need to do is screw them back on with the screws provided..
because the animals are all individually made and not from a production line i think it is much wiser to keep the body of the animal complete,,,otherwise i can see all sorts of problems
i have yet to weigh the animals which i will be doing tomorrow at the post office and from there i will have a good idea how much postage will be....
hope all that helps
-
thanks very much mollyrock much appreciated
-
I just love the pig
-
sssshhhh dont tell sam (fussy furball) cos i know she hates me advertising,,,but im not really am i.....that my new design will be ready next week

-

-
Martin........ I just HAVE to have a sweetie little box of kittens with bows like in your pic, just to add to my collection.
My friend loved her white cat planter that I gave her last night. She looked so funny walking around with it under her arms while under the influence of red wine!
She says a big thankyou.
Sue
-

-

-
We drove along Barnsley road on Friday but never saw them, I'll keep a look out though
-
i will be there on thursday and saturday.....promise
been busy this week building new stock up...
-
What a pity Jane... I went twice on Friday to see if Martin was there to get his details for you all.
Sat was a success as you now know.
Hope you can get there again this week.
-
Those planters are pretty neat, Martin! (and here's me thinking I was a dab hand at woodwork, but you knock me for six there... ;) )
You said you were looking for colour ideas - good way to do that, silly as it sounds, is look at cat cuddly toys and other ornaments for inspurration. ;) Stylized is fine, as long as everyone "gets" it. An easy breed to do would be Siamese - just add larger ears, slightly more to the side of the head, dark brown face, ears, legs and tail, cream body and blue eyes. :)
If you really want to sell loads and reach a serious bunch of cat mad folks, why not look into having a stand at the Supreme Show - which is the cat version of Crufts. ;) http://www.gccfcats.org/Supreme/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=5

thanks very much for that raynard,,,,im going to give everything you said serious thought.....
the problem i have at the moment is im tring to make this project self sufficient....to do these big shows and big craft fairs im gonna need better transport than i already have,,,ie,van,,trailor,,,,,at the moment all i have is my boot and the back seat.....lol....im trying to stop dipping into my wifes bank account for my next shipment of wood....i have been making these animals for 3 months now and until recently it was a case of go to the layby,,,sell 10-12 then go shopping with the money,,,but im now running this as a business and the profits are showing a gradual increase and hopefully in the future i might have enough to buy that van...
as for the siamese,,my mother used to have 3 of them and i used to talk to one of them,,who was called benjy..i would ask him all sorts and he would reply with his meehows,,,it was great fun...
-
Dogplant....Would it not be easier to only part construct for easy transport in your car then put them together when you get there....3 hrs earlier of course! :innocent:
Just a thought! ;)

Unfortunately they didn't think much of this little lad :innocent:
Ruby's tail all bushed out and she went creeping up to him on her tummy :scared: so am afraid he had to be quickly rehomed to dog loving neighbour who as it so happens recently had her 81st birthday and has 2 little dawgies just like him; so that was handy wasn't it? ;)
-
Aw! :Luv2:
They must of thought the brown one was next doors dog! :evillaugh:
