Title: Hello I'm new.
Post by: lucky and jj mum on April 03, 2008, 21:26:50 PM
(http://)[img]Hello all, a fellow cat friend told me of this site so here I am. I have elderly cat's Lucky who all being well will be 19 this May and J.J who all being well will be 18 this April.
Both my cat's have Kidney disease though J is much worse. Yesterday she had to have an op to remove several teeth as they were getting very bad and stopping her from eating. But now she also has a heart problem and some fluid around it. My vet was amazed with J's recovery yesterday and she told me she didn't think she would make it but if the teeth hadn't come out I would have lost her. Been a joy to watch her eat instead of draining all the juices from the food. It is so worrying when your cat's get older with health problem's but I'm trying to put them to the back of my mind and enjoy each day I have with them. Sorry for long thread, I will try and work out how to post pictures of my two girl's.

Welcome Sue, the pix are great and you are much cleverer than I am as I have to ask someone else to post Charlie's ones.

:welcome: to Purrs.  Your cats are beautiful.  They're a testament to your care of them.  Elderly cats are soooo special, aren't they?  There are lots of peeps on here who currently have or care for elderly puds.  Paddy, my own cat is 16 and a half now, and also has his health issues, but they're little troopers, as JJ's proved.  Am so glad she's had her op, and should be able to eat comfortably now.     You have exactly the right attitude inasmuchas you treat each day as precious.

Hi Sue &  :welcome: to Purrs

Lucky and JJ are gorgeous and definitely don't look their age  ;D

Been a joy to watch her eat instead of draining all the juices from the food.

This made me laugh as my cat Tiggy was a juice licker until she had a dodgy tooth removed  :evillaugh:

Hello Sue and   :welcome:  to Purrs, really pleased to have you with us

Your cats are a fantastic age.  My Cleo lived about nine months after having her teeth out (she was left with 3) it changed her quality of life completely and her appetite really increased.  Just take each day as it comes.

 :luck:
