Title: Insurance policies underwritten by RSA - preferred referral network
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on May 09, 2016, 16:55:56 PM
This has been around for a few months so I'm not sure whether there have been any further developments. It basically means that if you are referred to a specialist you have to go to one on their list or risk paying additional charges.  Insurers that are underwritten by RSA include M&S, Argos, John Lewis and Tesco.

Fortunately I'm with petplan but I find the concept a bit worrying.

Sorry if it's been discussed before - I don't recall seeing it mentioned

I agree Susanne. If my cat needs referral I want him/her to see someone my vet recommends, not someone the insurance company has accepted because they are cheap!

Like you, I am insured with PetPal, let's hope they don't go down the same route.

Once this year's insurance is up I'm going to cancel mine - it's beginning to not be worth it. I will find any money I need to treat them - certainly don't like the idea of being told where to go rather than being able to choose who I and my vet think is best for what is needed.
