Title: Kizzy - needing a home, Manchester area (homed)
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on July 26, 2009, 10:29:01 AM
Kizzy came into our care last August at the age of 10 with her babies - her owner was moving in with his partner and she wasn't wanted. She had been left in the house for a few weeks with minimal food and fuss which left her with a bit of separation anxiety, but she has really blossomed with love, and it is time for her to have a home of her own, as she doesn't like to share with other cats or dogs, and she hasn't really been pleased when children have visited. She loves to have belly rubs and to rub against your feet, and she does need outdoor access, although she doesn't go out for long unless there is someone outside. If you are interested in this lovely mature cat please contact me on desley@onetel.com

Poor girl still having kittens at the age of 10  :( - what age do they usually stop?

She is gorgeous  :Luv2:

I know - it is the equivalent of a 56year old having a child. The oldest mumcat on record is 20 as cats dont go through a menopause, they continue to come into heat - Blackie, who I lost to mammary cancer was still going into heat at the age of 14.

Please can I have some good rehoming vibes for Kizzy? Someone contacted the rescue wanting a cat for her gran and she thought Kizzy would be perfect, I have spoken to her today and she is still interested, so she is going to speak to her gran tomorrow and hopefully bring her over to meet her.

Thanks - she has been here nearly a year, bless her. My neighbour doesn't agree with me rehoming her, and was negative when I told her, but I can't keep a cat that pulls her fur out and gets infected scabs due to stress of other cats. She is happier now my cat room is empty and has taken it over, but at some point it will be needed.

Unfortunately they have changed their mind, so this little one is still looking. I was really hoping something would come up before she had been with me a year.

Poor baby. I only looked at the banner this morning wondering how much longer  :( - I was hoping your post was to say she had found a home - how can it be that such a lovely cat can't find a home?

I was talking to someone the other day, as her foster cat has been with her for 6 months, and i do believe that cats that have to be homed as only cats are notoriously harder to rehome, as well as the fact she is older, and has issues, although you wouldnt know most of the time now, hte only main giveaway is her anti-socialness, she much prefers to be on her own, although I do believe she will get more affectionate when she is an only cat, as when she first came, she would sit with you, but Sam is very demanding and I think he puts her off. I have allowed her in the cat room though, and I will sit with her, but she still wont sit on my knee, although she does occasionally when I sit outside.

Do you know, Schui never came to sit on our knees ever, he was a quiet little soul but he would come and lie down beside us after a year or so but would spend most of the time just sat alone.  He was actually an extremely loving cat but it took so long to come out of him and he needed coaxing.

there will be the perfect home for her somewhere Desley.  Longest we had was 2 1/2 years and the most perfect home turned up for her.  Was just a shame it took so long to materialise but seeing Toots as happy as she is makes it all worthwhile.

Fingers and paws all crossed that something comes up for her soon.

This is Kizzy's last day here, she is going to a new home on a month's trial tomorrow, I am sure everything will go well though.

Did Toots find it easy to settle in after being with you for so long Sarah, that is one of my worries with Kizzy?

Thanks guys - the lady has bought some things, and I will be packing her blanket soon (as she has been here so long, I thought a blanket she is used to sleeping on will help her) - my neighbour was still negative about it though, but she has done that before with a long term foster (the only one who has been here longer than Kizzy), and she was wrong then, so I am sure Kizzy will prove her wrong too, I am sure she will blossom in a one on one environment.

Everything went well - she hated the journey, but had a nice wander round and found a couple of spots that suited her to sit on, and was a bit anti-social, she didn't even care much for coming to me for a fuss, and wasn't bothered when I left, she stayed in her spot on the landing!! She did do a bit of hissing and lashing out at her new owner, but once they get to know each other, I am sure things will be fine.

I have had 2 updates so far - she has reverted back to barely eating, which is what she did when she first came into our care, and is a bit hissy, but the lady seems to be being patient with her, so am sure she will soon come round.

I love white and blacks too. She was a lot better while i was having a break - the room she is in is the cat room, and she enjoyed having a room of her own - now she has a house of her own.
