Mom and dad have done very well in teaching me to clean myself.....but I got so tired of the matted pooh hair on my bottom and legs that I decided to pull it out......this way mom doesn't need to bath me anymore :evillaugh:

:scared: Bobby's vet is a little worried about his preening habits.....says it's the first time she has seen this on a kitten his size.....and that this could become a habit :'( :'( :'( :'( any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening??? He no longer has any matted fur down there but still enjoys pulling tufts out!

They have a wonderful comb/thinner in PAH (dont worry Pickles Its the shop I went in not the vet)

Its normally stress/boredom that creates habits like those. You mentioned he may have a UTI, so he may be pulling at hair because of discomfort. With his background i would keep a close eye and deffo get a urine sample sent off for analysis.
George had huge balls, until i gave him a good groom and found out 50% of him was hair! :rofl: he was a dirty stray and never washed except his face, front paws and the white bit on his belly :Luv: i never took photos tho!

:lick: The shot and medicine seem to be working a treat - he has been drinking a good amount of water and weeing in his sand box. I am watching him carefully and distract him when I catch him pulling out the tufts.....I have only caught him once today!!
He is tearing around the house like a windup toy!!!!!

I think there's a condition - a kind of OCD - that people get, which involves pulling out hair. Maybe he has a feline version of that. Does his skin irritate him at all?
Maybe he's just giving himself a Brazilian! :rofl: :doh:
