Title: Older cat wont sit down
Post by: suzi on November 20, 2006, 17:55:39 PM
Looking for advice for my mum's older cat who is 20 years old. Noticed today that he isn't sitting down properly, he lies down fine, and stands, but when he sits down he doesn't put his bum on the ground and just hovers. He is also deaf and often looses his balance. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a touch or arthritis. At 20 he should be having regular visits to the vet and it might be an idea to get him checked out - at least they can help with some pain relief.

could very well be sponylosis of the spine (spurs of calicification between the vertabrae that cause great pain and can eventually put pressure into the spinal cord.

vets needed for non steriodal anti inflammatorys i reckon if his liver etc is up to them but to be honest you dont have much choice as he's in pain and discomfort.

I agree that a vet check is imperative ASAP to ensure the little ones comfort
