That was probably it Dawn - £50 doesn't go far in there  :evillaugh:

That's why I resisted presents apart from the catac capnip pillows which have gone doen really well.
Clapton has been drooling so much that the green has soaked through

I guess it is different as it is going to charity but I couldn't pay £5.49 for abox of food when I can get 2 for £4 in Tesco  :evillaugh:

I would guess that most of the sales are from people collecting their new cat/s  ;D

There was a waveshaped scratcher that was only £10 and I was tempted but I know mine wouldn't use it so it would be another piece of clutter  :evillaugh: - we got 10% off in the shop  ;D

the shop wasn't cheap but I thought when in Rome!  it was a bit embarrassing at first because the first time my credit card was declined but the second time she put it through it was OK, it was a long couple of minutes though!

I volunteer at the local CP, and they are very stringent about cleanliness and cross-infection. Each "block" of pens is color-coded, with it's own cleaning equipment (buckets, mops, etc), and all beds, bedding, and litter boxes are color-coded as well. We use alcohol gel on our hands between cats too. I was amazed at how clean and hygenic they keep it, and really impressed at their concern about cat health.

Sounds like it was a good trip for you; I love those cat-shaped cookies! Would love to find cat-shaped cookie cutters...

Yes - I didn't get the camera out quick enough. As we were leaving he was sitting in the out tray  :evillaugh:

The receptionists tried to get him to go back in for a photo opportunity but he was having none of it  :evillaugh:

I got one snap but he refused to pose  :evillaugh:

They said the Birmans had already been reserved by someone from the previous branch visit - they didn't even make it to the sales pens.  :evillaugh: :innocent:

I was stunned at the facilities. Everything is so clean and so new and better equipt than a people hospital.  :naughty: One very good ploy they have in the rehoming block is that the harder to home cats live in the reception area, so they are the first cats people see whan they walk in the door. At the moment they have a Diabetic puss who likes sitting in the out tray on counter and gives all potential new owners a good inspection.  :evillaugh:

I didn't like to be greedy - I had two  :evillaugh:

I love shortbread and especially home made  :drool;

Until cats are givena clean bill of health, they have cream bedding which is washed hotter than the bedding for the other cats, even though they are disinfected. They said they can't risk a single germ  :Luv2:

They also had a gorgeous, mega friendly abyssinian  :Luv2:

Just shows that all kinds of cats end up in rescues  :(

It is so sad seeing all these lovely cats in pens - although they are so well cared for  :Luv2:

I think she said they were Birmans - The BSH's were brought there as the owners "didn't want them any more"  >:(

It was a really good day. We spent the morning going round various admin departments with dept heads going through their roles. The we had lunch with Peter Hepburn (The chief exec  ) and his PA - we had nice triangle sandwiches and home made cakes. The we went round some other departments and then around the vet area. The vet showed us the theatres etc. I got in trouble  for stroking cats that had been operated on that morning re risk of cross-infection   :-[- I had to wash my hands with alcohol gel  :shy: - Then the best bit where we were shown round the various catteries. There were some general ones where cats are ready for rehoming, one where they are undergoing treatment or being made ready for homing and another family cattery where they kept cats that were brought in together as a family with double-decker pens. There were also mums & kittens but not many. We obviously didn't go in the isolation section as they are very strict and only certain people go in and their clothes are destroyed every time they leave - they said it can take 2 - 3 months to get rid of ringworm. They told us that some cats had spend their whole kittenhood in there without soft bedding and no run as it was the only way to contain it. They said when cats come out that went in as babies, they cry  :(

Anyway, then we went to the shop - I only bought catnip as it was quite expensive - £5.49 for a box of felix

The PR department remembered you and kept a copy as an idea for use by other branches. They said they would probably use stickers instead of plate changes for various branches due to cost.
