I am posting this link to Cat Chat.
http://www.catchat.org/forum/discus/show.cgi?18/200329
Its the story of Mikey a paralized cat who was shot with an air rifle and the pellet was lodged in his spine.
There are no terrible images just a sad story cos after so much work by his carer Heather, today he saw a specialist to see if it would be posible for Mikey to regain the use of his legs and sadly the answer was no :'(
This lil boy hwas been cared for since beginning of March and Heather works for a very small RSPCA branch in Stourbridge which have used as much of their own funds as thery could afford to get Mikey treated after a vet said he shoukd be PTS, Heather also has paid mountains out of her own pocket folr further help from Mikey but todays visit has now given the sadest news cos Mikey will never get any better and he is totally incontinent.
There are some wonderful vidoes of Mikey and how he progressed, to him walking around the garden with a supproting harness. He climbs and gets around but his incontinence is the real issue and even with a 24/7 carer the worry over his quality of life for maybe 10 years plus, if he was to live that long, have serious doubts. Heather cannot continue to look after him for ever and the only hope was that he would get some use of his legs back and then if he could be integrated with her cats then there was a chance for him to stay there.
Sadly that is not an option now and am posting this to see if any Purrs people have any ideas.
I became involved with this a few days ago when it seemed likely that Mikey would need an MRI scan to see if there was any chance for him and I was going to run an appeal on Purrs for Cat Chat and Purrs and also on Facebook becaiuse so much money would have been needed but sadly this is not needed any more and Heather has to make the final decison shortly :'( :'( :'(
I will also post this in Rehoming Urgent cases and General Cat Chatting cos Mikey is a such a brave boy and if there is any chance of him finding a home in the next couple of days, he should have it.
Heather haqs been a mountain of strength for Mikey and I would just like to say thank you to her cos I know she is unable to post any more right now on Cat Chat as she is destroyed
