Hi everyone,
I've just had a thought.? In recognition of how wonderful Tan and Mr Tan and Sneakie et al have worked to get this site under way for us all so quickly, perhaps we could all pledge a fiver towards the auction......just for this site alone.
What do ya think?? (More if you can afford it....all proceeds to Ron)
-
I agree! add me to the list Roz :-)
-
Yesterday I posted somewhere that if 20 folks gave just ?1, I would match it and donate ?20. That could be for people who cannot afford ?5.
-
Thanks guys but I note that we now have 188 members which, if we all pledged just a simple little fiver, would really get the auction off to a flying start...
-
Count me in. If someone can instruct as to how to pledge rather than bid...
(Am I right in thinking you mean not bidding for an item, just sending ?5 or more?)
-
To be fair ?5 to some people may be a lot of money, please remember that there are many on here already in rescue and to them every penny counts. So I personally don't think we should absolutely stipulate ?5 or more.
-
What a great idea .. yeah i'm happy to send ?5. Of course I'll still be bidding on the acution as well ;)
-
I'll be away for holidays in December. Although I very much like to take part in the auction, I am afraid I won't be able to make it.... So to give a fiver for this site or to Ron would be a lot easier for me...
Someone has to collect the money and just post a link or email me the address, I'll do my bit :-)
-

I think this is as well as the auction, then again what do I know.
-
Ela, I must have missed your post... I'll have a look at the topic and find your suggestion of donation.
I am so happy that there are so many nice and kind people like you.
-
Hi Claire,
Yes, I was thinking preparatory to the auction......Well I wasn't thinking very hard about how to achieve it to be honest, but most of us have a credit card or can transfer funds via our bank, so that was the idea.
Last year we sent our money directly to the recipients for items bought, but should we have wished to make a donation as well, we would have sent it directly to the recipient also.....this year we could just add a little extra (a fiver) for Tan's site.....in recognition of the fact that Ron was the reason for Tan and her husband setting up this site so quickly.? Tan would not dream of asking for anything in return but I know she would be chuffed to bits if we made loads more money for lovely Ron and all his poorly little cats....
I know I can count on you Claire (me ol' partner in plonkership)? :)
-
Yes I'll do that Roz, I did ask on CC if nothing in the auction takes my fancy if I could just donate. Lets me know what & how to do it. :)
-
Yeah I think its a great idea too.. ;D
-
good suggestion I pledge my fiver too. Happy to transfer online if there is an account to pay to.
I have already committed rather a large amount of money to a cat rescue so I cannot pay more at the moment.
I was going to suggest that we contribute to an emergency care fund especially for very urgent cases where there is a threat of PTS imminant but maybe that would be too much just before xmas .
-
Count me in too, just let me know how and when.
-
Count us in and just advise how and we will happily contribute
-
Me too, just let me know how to go about giving me dosh!
-
Could I be counted out please? not wanting to be nasty, but Ron is the recipient for my X Mas card money this year, so he is already getting more than that from me on top of the auction. And I am hoping to send Dawn some money this week too.
-
Tiggy has saved her pocket money and wants to donate ?5 to Ron too...
-
Count me in ;D
-
;D Sounds like a great idea, im more than happy to pledge a fiver for Ron!
sonya
-
More than happy to make the donation :)
-
I am sure we can arrange for somewhere for donations to be paid, but leave it with me and I will speak to Tan to find out best way ;D
-
would pay pal not be easiest ?
-
Yes it is but the commission takes some of money away, however I suspect that will be the way to go but we dont want Ron getting confused when Auction money zooms in so we need to keep the two separated for ease for us behind scenes.
As I said will talk to my mate Tannikins and we will let you know where to send donations too . :Luv: you all
-
Yes, Paypal would be good!
-
OK OK listen up peeps, Tan is gonaa put a Paypal link on so you cann donate to Ron ;D
-
Hi everyone,
Im soooooo pleased that everyone has come up trumps for this idea.? I'm not sure whether, when transferring funds, we could reference our donations with something like your name/Purrs Forum or something like that.
Because I don't do much with Paypal I shall transfer my money directly into Ron's account.? I'm sure for those of us who would prefer to pay this way, Ron could let us know his Bank Sort Code and Account Number.? We could have that info directly e-mailed to us couldn't we?? I have transferred funds this way many times in the past.
Other money raised via the auction could be referenced with name/item or name/item/auction (if space allows)
Best wishes,
Roz? ?(I got my three stars now....I'm a happy bunny? :) )

What about any costs that need to be covered to host this site? There is only so much space on Tanya and Steve's own web space, which they will probably need to use for their own business.
Soon I can see this site needing a larger web space and hosting as there are already loats of posting and photographs, which could cost a few hundred punds a year. I am sure anyone who is involved with hosting will know more about this as I am note sure how many GB will be needed. Plus we will need a domain name. Funds will be needed to cover all of this.
I think a subscription scheme will be needed to enable the site to continue.
-
very good point charlie bear.#
I thought the intention of this thread was exactly that.
I am not sure when it became a collection for Ron. This site is going to cost a lot to host and we can hardly expect poor Tan and OH to stump it all up.
-
I am confused, I just went back to Rozs original post and it ends up.................all proceeds to Ron..................have I misunderstood something : :-[
-
i took it that it was meant to be ?5 for tan and hubby !
-
Go down to post 27 where Roz is a happy bunny and I think that I am right but would like someone else to confirm that I am reading this right.
-
ive looked down the list twice and cant find post 27.
-
reading the thread title I took it to mean` for this site' ie costs to host the site :eh:
-
 found Reply 27 LOL
me still no understand
-
I'm with Gill (I read the last part of Roz's thread in brackets 'all proceeds to Ron'). Thats not to say I do not think we should stump something up for the site but should do this seperately via say a membership charge of some sort?
-
yes I've just seen that part it is a bit ambiguous until you read that bit.
Oh well  shall we start another whipround for this site ;)
-
Hi everyone,
Sorry to have confused ya all but yes, my idea was that our pledge should go to Ron because he is the reason that Tan and her hubby set up this site so quickly following the demise of the Cat Chat Forum. ?We had decided to hold an auction especially for Ron because he has been overlooked in recent fund raising events and suddenly we lost our venue, without much warning! ?(that btw is a fact, not a criticism)
I do of course realise that Tan and her husband will probably incur expenses for this project and if there is anything we can do to assist in that department, I for one, will be very happy to help.
But my idea was that it would be such an endorsement of our appreciation of Tan & her husband's supreme effort and generosity in constructing this site so magnificently, that it would really make it so much more worthwhile if we responded by making the fund raising event even more successful....? ? ?
Does that make sense
Lots of love
Roz
-
I agree to donating but also go with an earlier post that we may not all be able to give ?5 as to some thats lots. Perhaps we should welcome who ever is wiling to donate regardless of how much as it will all mount up, all donations count as they all come from the heart!!
-
Thanks very much for posting Roz cos I am clear now and will get Tan to set up the Paypal link ?8) 8) :thanks:
-
yes i understand now.
-
Yes all donations of any size will be gratefully received cos Ron has just lost his long term backer and his rescue and the cats are very needy this Christmas.
Please save some money to bid in the fun auction starting next thursady at 1900 ?;D
-
Will there be other payment methods? Cheque, direct to bank ac etc
-
I am sure Tan will accept cheques or transfers if you PM her
-
Another thing we could do - how about if people who win their bids add an extra ?5 (or whatever they can afford / think appropriate) when they send Ron payment for their item(s)?
-
Yes you can do that too ;D
-
Sorry to sound like a misery guts, but I'm a bit concerned that we don't put pressure on people to make minimum donations or required amounts.? I don't want anyone to feel bad because they can't afford ?5 right now.? It's great to set up a paypal thingy for donations, but I don't see why there has to be any specific amount recommended.? If there's a way to donate then people can simply donate however much they want to (if they want) whether that be ?2, ?5 or whatever.? I'm sure all donations will be gratefully received.?
-
Absoultely no pressure on anyone, you can donate as much or little as you want or not at all.
-
Me ere ?:P
At the mo the site is on our own web space but we have been looking to get a bigger web hoster so we can have all the pics we want and to have a big bandwith allowance to stop the little glitches in the connection due to our isp . ?We are in progress of find the best host. I did find a really cheap one but the reviews on them were awful saying the server was down all the time! Can't have that!!!
At the mo we still have 4GB of space left for this forum so will need to swap hosts soon. We need a bigger host for Chappie's (Mr Tan) new pc/ web design business so will put the cost to that.
Soooooooooooo what me trying to say is i would love it if any money you would want to give for the forum go to Ron cause nothin would please me more to be able to help more cats in his care. Esp in this cold weather.
I am waiting for Ron to come back to me if he has set his paypal account up yet and them i will put up in the fundraising section a paypal button and a link to email Ron for his bank details, so ya can pick how you want to send a donation and pay him any auction money when it finishes. The donation button will except any amount and won't be set.
I also had an idea to put a permenant donations section for rescues etc, then peeps can amke donations anytimr to thier chosen fund.
I will start a thread under Rescue for this a bit later today.
Gotta have din dins now cause i wastin away and it's a chinese yum yum :evillaugh:
-

Great idea ?;D Don't know anything about paypal though ?
Hope you enjoy your meal Tan ... I feel hungry now? ;)
-

?
That's fine!? I was just worried this "count me in" thing was making it sound a bit like you're in or your're out!? And that anyone who was "out" would be publicly outed, lol!
-
Hi Suzanne,
No, no-one would ever be 'outed'. As I said, it was just an idea but I'm really pleased that it has appealed to so many of the members.?
I intend to pay by bank transfer and I shall not disclose the amount I pay.? That is my business.? And the same goes for everyone else.?
When I said that we could reference the payment it was for Ron's convenience.? It would enable him to differentiate between a donation and an amount raised from the auction.
Am I any more lucid this evening than I was this morning?? It was those emoticons....they just got to me....
-
Roz - I too would prefer to pay by bank transfer as i do not have a paypal account (and have not intention of setting one up! Had my fingers burnt with these)
-
Ok as soon as i hear from Ron there will be a thread how to pay him via different ways for the auction and if anyone would like to make an extra donation if they want to.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Less than 96 hours to go before Auction time !!!!! :wow:
-
Getting excited now (and as an extra bonus - I got a promotion in Sept and get all the backdated money this week so bring it on!!!!)
-
hells Bells 96 hrs to Thursday ................nooooooooooooooooooooooooo time is going to quick >:(
-
I thought it was for Ron too!! I Would prefer to pay by direct bank transfer, but as I said earlier, I was giving money to Ron on pay day anyway, so mine will be for that rather than this, if that makes sense. I Really do hope we earn lots of money for Ron seeing as he has had some financial issues. Is he a member of here yet??
-
Its is for Ron and yes he is a member.....have you seen the members list Des, its at the bottom of home page amongst stats and stuff
-
No, I hadn't noticed that, thanks Gill!!
