Transport run needed to be organised between these two places for two male cats. If anyone can help, please let me know. :)
-
i can offer the end midlands bit. why are they going to northampton?
-
Because they've been offered a permanent home. The two cats are called Samuel and Tom and Tom specifically has been pretty difficult to find a home for. (Very nervous boy.)
Let me know where you can do from and to, and I'll see how Nickys going asking around. :)
-
Might be able to help depending on days and times involved.
Could do something like Preston area to Knutsford services.
Let me know.
Regards,
Tiggerman.
-
Thanks chap. :)
-
Hi, I am in Leicester and could do a couple of hours drive either way this weekend - say Nottingham - Northampton. Let me know if I can help.
-
Every bit of help is appreciated. Will look at multimap later to see if I can figure out a route.
-
Alternatively, I could do, say, Stoke on Trent - Northampton if you are thinking of the M6 route

Multimap route....if anyone knows a better one, let me know! ;)

OK, so where do we have from and to covered?
-
I can cover Stoke-on-Trent to Northampton.
-
Thanks Moira - so it's literally Blackpool to Stoke? Have emailed Nicky to see if she can get help with that her end.
-
I did say that I could cover around the Preston area to Knutsford services, but
not sure what you have sorted out so far.
-
So where does that figure in the Blackpool to Stoke section that's left? (I'm seriously bad at geography.)
-
Well Preston area means either M6 J29 Bamber Bridge/Walton Summit or possible J28 Leyland.
I could go further than J19 Knutsford services which is a bit short of Stoke on Trent but a lot depends
on what work I have on the day as I may need to watch my time.
On this basis someone will have to cover the bit from Blackpool to Preston area, and it might be an idea if
Moira could come a bit further North than Stoke.
-
I've checked out the map and distances. From Knutsford to Leicester is 83 miles and from Leicester to Northampton is 44 miles. I could do the trip leicester-Knutsford-Leicester one day but would need to do the Leicester-Northampton-Leicester part the next. I am able to keep the cats overnight at my place, isolated. Does this help?
-
Hi if needed i could take over in leicester and do the leicester to northampton to save having to make it a two day thing!
-
That would certainly help from my point of view, thanks.
-
not a problem as im in coventry. just let me know when
-
So, Blackpool to Preston needs covering is that right?
Then it's:
Tiggerman: Preston to Knutsford
Moira: Knutsford to Leicester
Karen cov-cats: Leicester to Northampton
That's right isn't it?
-
That seems right to me.
Just waiting for an update now.
-
Nicky's still trying to cover Blackpool to Preston....
-
If it can be done within the next week I can do Blackpool to Preston (but would need a cat carrier!). I'm at work for the rest of this week but Sat/Sun or Monday would be viable for me. Any later isn't an option as I'm in hospital (was supposed to be this week but have had it put back a week).

Karen - I think this weekend would be ideal for most of the people on here. Will send PMs to all concerned who have offered and see if Saturday or Sunday is best. :)
-
Regarding this weekend, I can do Sunday no problem, but it will be an early one!!
I would be at J29 on the M6 at or slightly before 06.00 on Sunday morning which would lead me onto
Knutsford services before 07.00.
Yes I know this is early but it is the best I can do for this coming weekend.
Hope this is suitable.
-
Moira has specified via PM she'd be able to do Saturday more easily - what about other people? She could be at Knutsford servie station for midday. Could you do that, Tiggerman?
-
OK, so:
Sootyca (Karen): Blackpool to Preston
Tiggerman: Preston to Knutsford
Moira: Knutsford to Leicester
Karen cov-cats: Leicester to Northampton
Tiggerman has stated at present he can be at Knutsford for midday, but a work commitment might overrun, which may make him a little late. (Hopefully not.) If you all exchange contact info and car descriptions via PM I'll get the info of the current fosterers and the new home. Sootyca, Nicky has said she can supply a carrier. (She might actually be able to do that bit of the run herself, she's just making sure.)
-
I'm fine with Saturday if Nicky can't do it herself. I can get kitties to Preston for whatever time is best for Tiggerman - bit wary of organising anything definite yet in case Nicky does the first run herself. Tigger and JS have pmed you both (or will be doing in the next 5 minutes!!!)

Karen, Nicky said that would be great if you could do the first bit - she's currently hand rearing seven five week old kittens as well as doing her VN job so is probably exhausted!
Will send you the collection details!
-
Right so its all set for Saturday.
I have had an email from Moira with contact details so will be replying tomorrow Thursday with my details.
Just need some contact details from whoever is coming from Blackpool now.
Tiggerman.
-
karen(covcats) can't do sat but i can - leicester - northampton
-
Brilliant - thanks Angie.
-
Thanks Angie I really was really worried about letting everyone down
-
  Karen ;you do what you can, just like the other people on the site - it's hugely appreciated. :)
-
I've emailed a reply to the one from Moira. Tiggerman, let me know when and where is best to transfer the kitties to you then I can sort out when to pick them up from Blackpool.

I'm in NE England, if you ever need any help with transport in this area just let me know.

-
Thanks TT.
Just to confirm, the cats can keep the same carriers all the way through the journey so they'll be no fiddling trying to get them in to different ones.
-
Leaving shortly for the first pick up - fingers crossed they are good travellers! ;)

Bon voyage and all the best for a safe and stress free journey
:car: :red Current:

First changeover went fine....one was bit hissy and spitty but when the car was moving he was fine (and very bonny!). The other had an "accident" just before handover so was smelly. I did feel sorry for him having to travel like that but had been advised not to open the cages as they would be out and trying to escape! He didn't seem to be bothered though and hopefully it wasn't as bad as it smelt!
Hope the other legs went well. Nicky kept saying how grateful she is to us all for doing this.

Second leg was fine apart from a nasty niff from one of the carriers!
Left them with Moira at 12.30 for the next stage.
-
Well done Karen and Tigger
Thanks for keeping us updated :thanks:
:red Current: :wrabbit:
-
Meant to post on here this morning - you guys are great. Glad it's not going too badly; apart from the smelly accident.
-
Hope things are still going smoothly. :)
-
if I remember aright, Moira doesn't have internet access at weekends
-
Judith and I have just got back. Cats delivered. Moira had to do a washup as one had been sick.
-
Oh no! Sorry Moira.
How were the cats for you, Angie?
-
very quiet in care. A bit hissy either end, but they have had a hell of a day.
-
How are the cats now - are they settling down a bit?
-
Hi All
Found the paper with my password on it so can now post at weekend.
Glad to hear that they got home safe, I only had them at my place for an hour but became quite attached to them even in that short space of time, especially the hissy spitty one who wasn't at all fierce once he was out of the carrier. In fact, he just loves a lot of fuss and attention and has a lovely loud purr. The other one was very subdued, perhaps still not feeling too good. Poor little thing sicked up in the carrier and was knee deep in sick and s***t. I couldn't leave him like that so stopped at a layby and cleaned it up as best I could (not too easy manoevering with a scared, wiffy cat in a Nissan Micra, I can tell you). Luckily, I had come prepared with water, newspaper and clean towels so managed to rinse out the carrier and put poor puss back in on a clean towel. Anyway, I let them out in my front room and the sick one went into one of my cat's cat igloos and curled up there until Angie arrived. He looked so comfy I let him stay there and he was transported in the igloo in the carrier.
I do hope we get an update on how they are doing, perhaps with pics?
-
I'll email the new owners now and ask. ;)
EDIT: That was quick! Got this response:
Ok, that's no problem :)
Both of them are very calm already, Sam's already had a good wash and a good sleep and let me feed him some treats, and we had a nice cuddle. He had a good purr and he's now stretched out.
Tom also had a good wash and he's meowing at the minute, I think he's calling Sam (as they have taken residence at each end of the room!), when we approach he growls a little and hisses but he's alot calmer than we expected, he's eaten a little as well.
It looks like they'll settle in quickly and happily and I will keep everyone updated :) I'll be taking some pictures soon and I'll make sure you get some :D
Tom's now having dinner. Om nom nom nom nom
-
looks like another fantastic Purrs success story
well done everyone involved
-
Yes - well done everybody
-
;D Well done everyone, if it had been my way out you know I would have helped
-
That's why I love this site. :)
-
Latest email: They're both settling in perfectly, I think in a couple of days at the maximum they'll be home here :)
There's even been cuddles with Tom! ;D
-
Excellent news.
-
Great to hear that they are doing well. Makes it all worthwhile.
-
:) great stuff
-
UPDATE:
"Sam is starting to say hello to strangers, but I think Tom will always be a hider. He's adopted me, though and he's a sloppy so and so!! When he snuggles up he REALLY snuggles!!! He's one of those cats who hangs the tip of his tongue out and dribbles all over you, headbutts you, kicks you and wants more and more fuss. Sam is much the same but very much more playful whereas Tom just wants cuddles. Sam will come up and doze on Matt's lap.
We've started to let them go upstairs now and they're having a great time, Matt just caught Tom stretched out on our bed! (he's trying to see what's cooking in the oven at the moment, bless him.)
Also, Sam is very greedy!"
:)
-
Nice to hear they are settling in so well :)
-
Wonderful to hear that they are doing so well.
