Bless you for stopping and caring - at least Jasper had someone with him at the last.  I hope the driver of the van can sleep at night.

Sleep tight Jasper. :(

What a lovely thing you did for Jasper SP, at least he didn't go alone, and his parents knew what happened to him. RIP little one, taken too soon.

Smudgepickles, I forgot to say well done for helping Jasper in his last moments by being there when he passed. I would think it helped. If only more people had this attitude.

I hope Jaspers "parents" are OK and Jasper is having fun with all the other cats that have crossed over.

:RIP: Jasper. Have fun on the bridge sweetheart.

I think it's best  for this thread to stick with  respecting little Jasper up on the bridge

100% agree
It gets my back up when a cat has lost its life and people start with their moral judgement.

:RIP: Jasper. Have fun on the bridge sweetheart.

Sadly it's the indoor / outdoor debate which is always hard to choose and agree on for the cats best interest for their personality and quality of life. It always good to have discussions on this cause it advises cat owners who are used to old traditions here in UK that a cat is known as a animal of freedom and alllowed out 24/7.  I think it's best  for this thread to stick with  respecting little Jasper up on the bridge  and SP for being an angel and helping him and his mum.  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

trying to ignore Elas's post here!)

I wrote what I did as the post stated

wasn't surprised he hadn't been knocked over before as he crossed from one side of the main road to the other several times a day

I am sure you did not think for one minute Binky crossed a main road several times a day.

It is such a sad end to a precious life and thanks to smudgepickles for caring.

As someone who lost my younster Binky a month ago in similar circumstances (trying to ignore Elas's post here!) I can only thank you for doing what you did.
I was very grateful to the lady who took the trouble in Binky's case and was concerned for her. as an animal lover, having witnessed the whole thing.

As with this the person who ran over Binky was driving too fast in a residential area - she should have known better as she works in the stables down the road and was on her way to work.

Sadly , cats will be cats and as sure as eggs is eggs cats will go where they want. You cannot protect cats against all the dangers though I appreciate that if a cat is kept as an indoor cat then roads are not an issue. Mine looked so bored when its raining - they have play areas and toys and us around most of the time - I was thinking only this morning as I had to go out for a few hours and they were all milling around how dull life would be for them if they were nevr allowed out.

That is so sad, poor little baby .. another one taken too young.  Play hard on the Bridge little one.

As for the  :censored: in the van, I still can't believe people can do that  :'(  It would stay on my conscience forever.

You did a lovely thing SP, and I'm sure Jasper and his mummy appreciate your kindness no end.  It must have been very upsetting

It is so sad.

I don't understand how people can allow their cat to cross roads

I have to agree, so many times a week I hear 'my cat never goes near the road', but to know and let your cat out is I think, well actually I cannot think of a word to describe what I think, disgrace doesn’t seem the right word but something like that.

smudgepickles. how kind of you to stop and ensure that the little one felt gentle hands at the end.

Poor Jasper and poor you. I don't know what I would do in that situation. I don't understand how people can allow their cat to cross roads  :'(

POOR LITTLE JASPER
We were driving to my daughters today and the van in front (white van) knocked a beautiful ginger and white fur babe over. He was speeding and the  :censored: drove off. I hysterically stopped my car in front of the little darling so nobody could hit it again. I quickly but carefully picked him up and my other daughter and son in-law were frantically knocking on doors trying to find his Mummy..... nobody knew were he lived... :( :( :(

His little mouth was bledding and I kept asking him to hang on until we found Mummy, sadly he didn't as I cradled him he jerked backwards and went limp that was the point my daughter found his Mummys door. It was too late, he was on his way to Rainbow bridge

As you can imagine she was hysterical and I had to let her know it wasn't me that had run him over. She asked us in and thanked us for finding her and wasn't surprised he hadn't been knocked over before as he crossed from one side of the main road to the other several times a day :'( :'(

I haven't stopped crying since it happened as I kept thinking about how I would be feeling i it was my babies

She told me his name was Jasper and he was two years old next week

RIP Little one have fun at the bridge and show Your Mummy that rainbow

xxxxxxx
