Title: Guinea pig welfare petition
Post by: Guineapiggle on May 31, 2010, 17:28:11 PM
A park near me keeps guinea pigs in an open pen where they have no protection from predators. A fox recently killed twelve and the people seemed more bothered about their breeding program than the piggies that had died. When I went the other day the food was out in the rain and the piggies were sleeping in the rain cuz they have three hutches for about 20 pigs and they don't all fit. Please sign the petition and join the facebook group.

Why is there a 'breeding programme'?, are they endangered or rare piggies? Whta happens to the babies when they're born, or they shipped off somewhere else or just used to keep the enclosure stocked up so to speak? I hate it when you see animals in parks like this, you always get the feeling that there's never anyone there for long enough to give them the care they need

Signed. I love piggies. I have 2 of my own Trubbs and Junior and had a prev one Sammy who is now at the brige. I ended up with mine from people who got fed up with them. Love them to bits

The RSPCA have been notified and I have informed hull animal welfare trust too. Public pressure will hopefully make the park change some of the things that the RSPCA can't make them do, like stop breeding. Yes the aim of the babies is to keep the enclosure stocked up. That is what the manager at the park told me  :censored:

I started it on Saturday. Please do forward it to as many people as you can. These poor little piggies need protection.
Thanks to everyone who has signed it.
