Introducing - Da Bird Interactive Feather Cat Toy
Da Bird Mimics the Look & Sound of a Real Bird in Flight!
Cats are so crazy about this toy that you have to hide it when not in use- I'm not kidding!
A great way to exercise your cat and have lots of fun while your at it!
The cats are CRAZY about Da Bird! Da Bird consists of a 36" fiberglass rod, 50 lb. test braided nylon string and aerodynamically configured feathers that mimic the action and of a REAL bird in flight. Da Bird is simply fantastic. Gizzy is fussy with his toys and absoultely loves this toy, He hunts it like a real bird and runs off with it in his mouth. He hasn't got bored with it at all. ;D unlike all the other toys i have got him!
I have tons of cat toys, but Da Bird is streaks ahead of the field. ;D
They are from the USA and i have stock coming in within a week to see how they go with our members. I think if you like them, i will need to order more ;D ;D ;D
Cost will be about £4.99 plus UK postage and packing of 1.99 as it's in a postal tube to protect the feathers.
There is also replacement feather pack and other attachments to go on the rod like furry mice and will letcha know what these are like when i get the stock in. ;D

oh my goodness sasa would go crazy about that but she has broken two panic mice so far and demolishes the balls and pulls the tails off but she loves and I mean loves birds and feathers........she loves em to death :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

The attachements simply clip on to the road and you can change them easily ;D

I have a similar toy from Purrsonal touch - feather on the end and it sounds like a bird. I bought it when Jaffa was a kitten and still have it (you buy new bits to clip on the end)

Yeap i have mine already - ordered last week one to try out :)
So the 1st 5 will have the 1st delivery stock due to arrive in 3 working days. If i can sorce them from UK supplier (hope to get bulk discount etc) the 2nd order will be here quicker than from USA :)

I found one site in the UK where they are £7.50 plus 50 p+p, it's probably cheaper to get them from the US what with the dollar exchange rate.

I suspect hannah that peeps will look on the dreaded E anyway but we know we can trust our Tan and one cant always trust everyone on E.
Also the P&P there is always very high cos thats where many make their money.
We know that the Purrs shop will be building a fund for charity once it gets going properly so I hope people will let the shop ummmmmm and Tannikins take the strain ;D

For those that can't get their paws on a da bird just yet, this item is similar. the feather flies through the air very realistically and it makes a whooshing noise as it does so. You can get other atatchments (Mosi and Jaffa like the tassles) which clip on the end so when it's been destroyed you can just replace attachments. Click on TOYS on the left hand side - its' the first item. Feline flyer.

Note that the first item is slightly different to the one lower down (which I bought when I got Mosi although I already had the original one) - the one lower down with the additional attachments has a shorter handle and string than the one at the top. It's also less strong - Mosi chewed through the string whereas I've had the original one for 10 years!

type "da bird" into youtube and there are loads of clips with cats and this toy, I'll probably get one for cody at some point but he plays with normal toys/feathery wands just like that so i'm not sure i'd see much difference.

the Chomsky Jumps clip is also well worth watching. The final shot of an exhausted kitty is music to a mothers ears (finally a good night's sleep). If you are easily disturbed I would skip with final one though (cat fling) - that's nasty!!

yeap will letcha know as soon as they come in and will send out 1st post to ya all (1st post was 1.40 and 2nd was 1.20! so not much in it lol)
There is one thing with it and the rope does tend to get tangled with alot of play but Gizzy after 3 days still finds it completely fasinating.
What i think is also great is that they do extra attachments to the pole so you can swap toys. They also do replacement feather attchments which are diff coloured.
I have ordered a trial stock of the other accessories which is a furry mouse, a furry thingy, A sparkle thingy, and a Fluffy puff (that's what they call it lol).
The feathers i think will be the best as they do sound and act real as a bird would in flight. It's the way they are placed in the attchement and they are strong feathers.

Thanks, Tan! ;D Mosi is gonna love this. he was practising last night with his feline flyer. When he chases that he runs in one direction after it, jumps up onto the arm of the sofa, does a back flip (about 6 ft in the air) and then lands the other side of the room (or occasionally on me, resulting in a shriek of pain and yet more scratch marks on my arms/hands/legs). Wish I could catch him on video but unfortunately I'm always the mug on the other end of the toy.

Thanks so much for the orders hunnies and i am really really pleased to say that i have a great deal with Dave in Montana USA for the Da Birds and accessories and it means that for every da bird we sell, £2.03 goes to cat rescue ;D ;D. That makes the da bird cost only £4.95 incl postage and packing in UK with a doantion of £2.03 to make up the Purrs price of £6.98 each. Our total price £6.98 is cheaper than than other uk sellers and only pence more than ordering from USA sellers but includes the donation!!! Good eh!! ;D ;D

I think a ceiling mountable, simple, slow motor with a 1 ft high tensile steel 'arm' to attach the nylon string to would be a good idea for this.. similar to to the child's toy planes that fly repeatedly round and round. could be left on when u go out to keep them entertained (the kitties, not the children) and great to keep them from under your feet when you need to do things such as cooking and cleaning.. just an idea ;D

Hey works out on the 30 sold so far, we have made £69 profit for the rescues already and the shop aint even open yet ;D ;D ;D.
With the purrs shop we will be giving every £100 profit (100% of profits go to cat rescue) when it's made to a rescue on a fund list of Rescues in turn. Hopefully we can help quite a few that way. The fund list of cat rescues will be completed shortly esp as we are making money for it already but for now the 1st to benifit from the 1st £100 will be Eight lives left Kitten rescue (Our Lesley on here) ;D

Wanted to check that out with examples first and just seen the accessories samples that came with the 1st da bird order. The fur mice are not actually fur at all and are smaller than i thought but a hit with Garf so far (Gizzy is sleeping lol) ;D, The fur thing example could be, so i have cancelled any of those for our shop stock before confirming with the makers what they are made with. The other accessories are man made fibres.

Great i love acrylic ;D im sure the cats would love a piece of rabbit to play with but unless they catch their own natural one they cant have. Thing i worry about is it being cat fur >:( apparently its cheaper than rabbit!

The problem is they say Asian manufacturers are labelling real fur as fake fur so the only way to tell for sure is to burn one a bit. If it singes, its real. The terrible irony if cat toys are made from cat fur >:( -They say there are cat ornaments for sale that are trimmed with real cat fur - awful that people buy them while on holiday for cat-loving friends :'(
If they are real fur and labelled as synthetic, they ned to be reported to the DTI - I know I'm being very serious about all this but is is affecting me badly and I feel so helpless.
BTW- looking forward to getting the "bird" ;D

If it turns out they are real fur. I would email them and ask what they plan to do about it. I'm sure they would stop selling it in that case. If they didn't, there must be an equivilent of the DTI in America that could be informed they are selling mislabelled goods.
That is all a bit premature as hopefully they are just acrylic :evillaugh:

Have just had reply from makers re the materials in their toys
The Fur thing accessory is made from Rabbit fur with catnip and polyester soft filling. The materials are obtained from the USA food industry as a "by product" of rabbit meat sold in stores.
Won't be stocking those and told them why!!!!. In their advertising they do not say real or not just fur accessory.

Got mine this morning and Willow is very impressed with it ;D
She has worn me out and keeps sitting beside it to make me play again. She prefers it to the panic mouse as she is well aware that its interactive :evillaugh:
I even had guests playing with it/her at breakfast. Kylie had a good go as well but she is a lazy player as she always rolls on her back and just bats it when it comes near :evillaugh:
I'm sure it will be favourite toy - I think they like the way the feathers spin as it goes through the air - also that it has a long rod and string :evillaugh:

Oh my word.... Da Bird :wow: The boys have just gone MENTAL for this, it's hilarious to wtch them. They have done some jumps and backflips today that an olympic athlete would be proud of in an attempt to get 'da bird'. They are currently frantically searching the house to see where I've hidden it as I'm typing this :evillaugh:
When it was described as being like a real bird in flight I thought, yeah right - it'll be fun as it's feathers on a pole but was surprised as it really does fly like a bird! Will try and get some pics or maybe even a video of da bird v da boys :evillaugh:

Mosi can't wait for his ;D It sounds very similar to one of their existing toys (but I need lots of similar toys to maintain Mosi's interest). When Mosi chases that he does amazing somersaults chasing it. Unfortunately he often lands on me which can be quite painful if he's not had his claws trimmed recently.
I'm glad Lucas and Riley are having fun with theirs!

I have taken video of both lads with it but had to do a very slow version to get it on film in with them in one place. What I want/need to know is, although so far, it is standing up to a good battering, will the purrs shop stock replacement feathers. I guess they last a whil as their claws seem to slip through the feathers, but EVERYTHING has a limited lifespan when cats are around :evillaugh:

They come in diff colours so they look a bit diff from the one they have been playing with or knawed to bits lol The other accessories will be in stock when 3rd batch comes in end of next weekish. Will be doing a accessory pack as well as selling the accessories individually.
As Helen says what's diff about da Bird is the way the feathers are strong and placed together with the swivel attchement on the pole so they actually sound like a bird in flight ;D

Because I couldnt see to connect the two poles and played with just the little rod,guess I spend too many pennies on cats and not enough on glasses :rofl: Fair do`s to Minimopsical she was quick on the claw :rofl: :rofl:

The problem is they say Asian manufacturers are labelling real fur as fake fur so the only way to tell for sure is to burn one a bit. If it singes, its real. The terrible irony if cat toys are made from cat fur >:( -They say there are cat ornaments for sale that are trimmed with real cat fur - awful that people buy them while on holiday for cat-loving friends :'(
off topic abit now but
about4 years ago my grandparents got me an ornament with 2 furry cats curled together, one white and tortie, one ginger. its from some tiny shop in switzerland, they thought id love it and couldnt understand the look of absoloute horror on my face- i couldnt even bring myself to touch it- i tested it and it singes. my grandma choose it and shes old and senile and usually ignores me at christmas/birthdays etc cos i left home so i couldnt make a fuss, had to thank her :(

My bidy arrived today and I took it out in the garden. Great big Misa was doing the same as yours, all 4 paws off the ground and fur and tail flying. Miss Sasa, well she killed it so many times and did manage to get 2 paws off the ground, 4 , well thats not Sasas thing :rofl: :rofl:
She did a lot of running around which i an sure was very good for her, as did Misa.
They loved da birdy but its already looking sad after one outing :rofl: :rofl:

They were actually quite tame in that vid, normally, I race around with da birdy so it's much more manic with lots of wall crashing, carpet burning fun :evillaugh: I had to stay still and just wave it around as I had the phone resting on the cat tree and didn't want to block the view with my ample body :evillaugh:
When one of them 'catches' it it's really hard to make them let go, Lukey caught it and Riley came to nick it from him and you should have heard the growl that came out of my soppy baby boy. A few mins later Riley had caught it and gave the same lionish growl when Lukey came near him :rofl:

I have 8 'normal' rolls and have calculated that the Da Bird tube will make 5 plus a slightly smaller one so just need 1 more :wow: Kitchen roll is almost finished courtesy of Riley's water bowl knocking over fetish so shouldn't be long now ;D

The second order will be with me tomorrow , they got stuck at UK customs for 4 days >:( and they have charged 49p each on import vat for them so instead of £2.03 (41%) going to our rescue fund for each £1.54 will be but that's still a good profit (32 %) made for each one sold.

I have a note through the door saying a neighbour has taken in a package for me, but she is not at home at present so I don't know whether it is da bird or other stuff I am expecting. Will update you when I get it ... I love my new neighbours, they are all so helpful (read politely nosy) about my larger post items. So far number 11, number 15 and number 17 have taken in parcels for me :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: THink they just want to check out the new neighbour?

Thank goodness I have cats - if I didn't, I wouldn't have ordered Da Bird and if I hadn't ordered Da Bird I wouldn't have been woken up by the postman at 8am this morning and I would have been very late for work! :rofl:

Here is the best way to play with it.
Interactive toys are used for play therapy; the best one is called Da Bird. It's a fishing pole toy with a unique feather configuration at the end that sounds like flapping wings. It's totally irresistible!
It's not enough to dangle the toy while watching TV. You have to be the bird! You've probably seen your cat perched in the window watching real birds. Now, let the cat follow a pattern of flight around the room long enough to get completely involved in it: with rapt attention, tensing muscles, and a little twitch of the tail. Talk to the cat in a light praising tone.
At some point, swoop the toy close enough for the cat to make a grab. When he catches you, play dead, but keep gentle tension on the string. When the cat relaxes, you make your escape! Fly around a bit, then allow yourself to be caught again. This whole routine can be repeated, of course, ad infinitum, until the cat is finished. But watch out for the "second wind!" This routine should truly tire the cat out.
The final step is a high protein snack. Kitten food, a dried liver treat, or a teaspoon of meat baby food is fine. This completes the natural cycle of hunt-catch-kill-eat.
Once the session is over, put away the special play therapy toy. It only comes out for these special sessions. Regular daily play therapy work will make your cat happier and more confident, and less likely to manifest stress in unpleasant and unwanted ways. ;)

I was ambushed by Sasa and misa tonight cos they wqnted to play da bird ;D
Once Sasa saw me pick it up she rushed to front room with tail up and looked behind to make sure that I was coming in the right direction.
The tent and da bird together she says are lots of fun and sahe will hide in tent and then try to catch it from inside when it lands on top of tent.
Your discription is very accurate Tan cos she showed me just how she would catch and kill a bird. She weighs a ton bot she pounced up abd caufght it first time as it was flying past and then proceeded to bite and plat with it in her paws, she will then lie on it :rofl: :rofl:
Poor Misa is too much a gentleman and lets Sasa play and keeps waiting for her to give him a turn................ummmmmmm she doesnt!
She eventually rushed out of the room with Misa and they went and ate dinner and da birdy is now sleeping ;D

Unfortunatlely I only arrived myself about half and hour ago.Smidgen is totally crazy for it so have had to hide it is was worried he might injure himself he was throwing himself around with such gay abandon. whenever I put it away (to give me a rest) smidgen roam vigourously around the place giving little spoilt kitty mews to make it clear he still wants it. He has destroyed his Ikea Tent in a fit of pique (well, sat on it until it collapsed lol). Is now hurling himself up and down the steps of his climbing tower as has not yet found the latest hiding place ... THought it was supposed to wear them out - it's certainly wearing me out :rofl: :rofl:

We have got 2 da birds left in the order arriving with me next week and i have ordered more stock but they will be about 10 days to come in.
Ya can have replacement feathers which attach to the pole so as long as ya have the one pole you can swap feathers and other accessories too that are coming in shortly.

The Clan Cats got there's on Friday after nice Mr Postman delivered them, They have had a blast and we averaged 15 cats to each one and parents feeling ganged up on all ages from 17 to 2 played and currently they are looking a little bedraggled but they will be using next weeks pocket money to get some new ends!
I have to say Robin rolled his eyes when I said oh new toys - we could sell toys and they ahve had so much fun nothing like someone staking away with it being chased for the string and stick! :Crazy:

lol thought i better get in stock replacement feathers and accesories so :-
The replacement feathers are £3.25 plus 50p P&P each which gives us just over a £1 profit to the shop rescue fund and that is still cheaper than the other UK seller for replacement feathers ;D
The other accessories are
The mouse attachment (size of mouse is 3.5cm x 2cm plus tail) - £1.50 plus P&P 50p each
The Puff - £2.00 plus P&P 50p each
and the Sparkly - £2.00 plus P&P 50p each.
Me lads like all of the attchments to the Da bird wand esp the Sparkler and the little mouse.

This is Sweetie from the Clan Cats I love the accessories especially the sparkly one - it will be the girls toy at the Clan homestead.
I will get Mummy to place the order when she comes home this weekend after abandoning us with Daddy all week.
We are missing Mummy and after the tea last night - Chicken Supermeat and Whiskas biscuits - where was the Royal Canin I can say Daddy will be buying lots of new toys!!!!!

I have missed another delivery :-[ :doh: but i thought it was the charger i ordered, didnt expect that to fit through the box but i guess it could have been da bird number 2 :-:

I can't believe this. :doh: My two oldies are having a great time. Buddie was even panting after the game and Samson was doing back flips. BUT my little Pepper is afraid of it. She runs away from Da Bird. It was mainly for her that I bought it 'cause she needs to lose all that weight. Will persevere with it though. She will just have to learn how to play at the age of 9 and not be such a sissy.

Da accessories arrived today.... Da boys verdict :wow:
Da Mousy - Very popular with Lu Lu as he is not as good a jumper as Riley. The mousy is so light that it can go superfast, also because the string is so long on da bird pole with a bit of movement da mouse can cover a huge ground area aswell as flying through the air for those spectacular jumps when desired :wow: They look hilarious chasing it - like a motorcycle and sidecar - wherever the mousy goes they go together :)
Da Puff - Looks like feathers but a very light puffy version, not as directional as da bird and a little bit more floaty rather than whizzy but even so lots of fun ;D
Da Sparkly - Even though this was the third toy tried they still had the energy left to go :Crazy: for it, a hit with them both. Lukey had it in his mouth and because it's shiny material with nothing to lock on to like da bird I managed to slide it out by pulling really hard - he wasn't impressed, the look on his face as it slipped through his teeth was classic :evillaugh:
So.... Paws up for all 3 accessories from the boys :)
Here's a pic of Riley yesterday discovering where da bird is kept, every time I go to get breakfast cereal or pasta out they go mental and come rushing in to see if it''s playtime :evillaugh:

Do ya know we have sold 50 da Birds so far with 10 preordered on the 4th order lol ;D ;D ;D Because of sales and because the 1st £100 made from the shop was going to Lesley's rescue (eight lives left kitten rescue) we have been able to add the £100 profit to Les's cage fund and buy her a lovely replacement kittening cage.

Mine came today! Perfect timing cos the kittens had been closed in the living room most of the day while I was getting new doors fitted. So they got to run around for half an hour with da bird after. They were very wary for a good 5 minutes and I didn't think they liked it, but they were just sussing it out I think. When Tigger went for it the rest all followed.

My old cat Rizla used to have a toy like this and its true, it had the strangest effect on him. His character changed and he became as close to a wild cat as possible. Its the only time I have ever heard a cat growl!!!! lmao Just remember to put it away as it will be destroyed otherwise.

If Harry already has the natural born killer in him then toys wont worsen it, it may tire him out more and give his brain something to think about.
People think the same about feeding raw food, mine catch less of their own now i provide some ;D

Well I've discovered something better than da bird - da bird without da bird! ;D Tbh neither Jaffa nor Mosi go for the feather attachements to the feline flyer (very similar to da bird) with Mosi preferring the tassles and Jaffa the pom pom, so I wasn't particularly surprised when Mosi lost interest in da bird after a couple of days. Last night I unclipped the feather and Mosi had a wonderful time chasing the string :rofl: He got really out of breath and panted so much I had to stop the game. He was happy to settle down to sleep for the night shortly after ;D Will definitely have to get some of the other attachments.

I can safely say Da Bird has unleased Nala's inner kitten :rofl: She usually looks down her whiskers and refuses to join in such things...Darcy and Rosie have always played with great enthusiasm!
I am very impressed - all three cats were pinging round like Zebedee... and are now snoring. :evillaugh:
