Title: Newish research by Bristol University
Post by: Mymblesdaughter on February 17, 2014, 16:46:27 PM
This was actually published in Dec but I've only just noticed it. Interesting to see 38% of respondents thought that unneutered related cats would not mate! I hope the information can be used in some way to reduce the number of unwanted cats.

It certainly seems that there is a lot of mis-information and misunderstanding out there. Maybe a concerted educational campaign would help, what do others think?

It drives me insane that people are so uneducated about cats. My pet peeve is people who say that they let their girl out when she's entire and then wonder why she comes back pregnant, it really isn't rocket science! Then again, it's an 'accident' that they forget to get their pets neutered. Sorry, it just really gets my goat. People really do need to be more educated.

At YCR we get all the excuses. Whilst we try to refrain from hitting head on wall its difficult sometimes! We did this info leaflet as a series on our Facebook page. PDF attached. It was good as we felt we may be preaching to the choir by putting it on FB but some people commented that they where going to neuter and I think a few people shared relevant comments to their friends with un-neutered cats.

Please feel free to distribute wherever and whenever  :)
