Wow my cats seem so well behaved looking at some of the pics of here  :evillaugh: I'll be happy next year when we'll either have moved house or extended here so we'll have room for an Xmas tree again!  :birth 2: I like having a tree up.

I love christmas trees just to watch cats go crazy for them! This was Riley's first christmas.....
He's about twice as big now, and of course we recently go 5 month old Skye - I don't think this year's tree will stand much of a chance!

It was Rosie's first Christmas last year and she wasn't too bad. The tree was fine in the morning, but baubles were everywhere by the time we got home. But at least the tree was still standing. :)

Mind you, she may show more interest this year  :-:
I won't have tinsel this year as they are all scraggly after Madam got her claws into it last year.

Awww, Gill. But at least your last Christmas with her was a beautiful traditional time. This will be our first Christmas since we lost Parsley - our phantom tinsel eater! We have that strand tinsel and she used to eat it until we got wise to her and started just putting it at the top of the tree. (I know it's bad for them, by the way which is why the tinsel was moved! None of the others are interested in it at all!)

No I didnt but somehow it does make me think of her, probably cos she loved turkey and my four will not touch it. So we used to have a big turkey so Kocka could have portions for a long time after Christmas. She specially loved the turkey jelly.

Also we went away together for what was her last Christmas and we spent it on a farm at the edge of Dartmoor and had a white Christmas.

So I guess Christmas and Kocka roll into one package for me and she didnt have one here.................

I suppose it also make me think of Kocka.

I meant why do you hate Christmas...but this sentence clears it up. Did you lose her around that time of year?

Been thinking about this myself recently. Previous cats haven't bothered with it and Dylan is far too lazy to make any effort to climb it. However this year with his Hobbesness in the house I have a feeling any tree might not last very long  he is a particularly good climber and even though the tree goes on the dining table he regularly gets on there - ummm difficult one.

I will be putting a tree up this year, both cats have never bothered with the trees, so I'm lucky there!  Christmas Morning and all the wrapping paper can be a bit of a noisy occasion as they both roll about in it though   Reminds me of when i was younger and we had a cat called Ginger, who one Christmas decided to climb the Tree early Christmas Morning and brought it down through the room devider, smashing ornaments everywhere, whilst we were cleaning up, he sneaked in the kitchen and attacked the Christmas turkey!!  :evillaugh:

I had a christmas tree experience when i thought I'd be clever and replant my tree for the next year. We dug it up again fine, brought it in and as the central heating worked its magic all the bugs that were hibernating / living on it came alive! Our living room was like the Amazon!   So a cat up it is nothing really!

I have never bothered with a tree, I dont like them, and use the cats as an excuse every year, despite the fact I rarely have cats that would bother (although last Christmas I did, I  had to move the artificial flowers out of Shadows way!!). My neighbours bought a small ready decorated tree for me, so i had no excuse not to have anything up, but that and a few candles is my limit, I dont really like Christmas!!
Please spay your cat

Inlaw's tree with a Lirael under.

Even with a Burmese who climbs anything, chews on everything and is known for destroying things we still put a tree up in the living room every year. There is limited access though, which is probably why its never been knocked down.

I'm thinking of a new tree this year but it seems to be hard to find a 3ft tree that isn't already decorated or has weird fibre optic things on it.

Next has a 5ft black one that I'm thinking of getting, mostly due to the tree we have has been with my husband since uni and it's a bit worse for wear and leans to the left a lot.

Just further up from me every year a row of houses put up thier out side lights i love it myself thiers a house on the way to cardiff from me thier famous just about for thiers as its on the main route in out of cardiff to the valleys would hate to have thier electric bill though Ouch !!

I know some people hate/dont like big lighted displays whats your thoughts ?

why are their tree's still standing

I particularly like the top and bottom ones on the right side... on the top one they look like pretty ornaments themselves, and the bottom, that evil satisfaction on his face after the damage has been accomplished... :evillaugh:

I was terrified of putting one up last year with Mosi around, but he pretty much ignored it.  He had a new ceiling high cat tree next to it though, so I think that might have worked as a distractioni  ;D  Jaffa chews the branches which annoys me  >:(

Having a ponder - the year that Dino and Harry bothered with the tree it was an artificial one. Ever since the main one that I put up is real and they have never looked at it. Do you think is it possible that they don't like the strong pine smell from real ones?

a couple of years ago we bought a really expensive artificial tree that looks absolutely brilliant - just like a real one.  Last year (the gingers 1st chrimbo) we were away so didn't bother with decs at home, this year we're at home  ;D so shall put it up.

Methinks Cosmo will probably attempt to shag, kill or eat it - possibly all three - and Jessie will run away and hide under our bed  :evillaugh:

Was only talking about this yesterday, have decided there's absolutely no point in me putting a tree up this year as the boys Riley would be attempting to climb it / steal whatever was hanging from it within minutes  :evillaugh:

Last Christmas was Tiggy's last Christmas, she LOVED her tree and spent most of her time asleep under or around it.  Here she is when I came to take it down, she refused to move!  That's when I built her little tent area as she seemed gutted that she had nothing to lie under anymore  :)

i did buy him a sacrificial one also though, a little cone thing covered in red feathers which he seemed to like rolling around with for a bit.

Brilliant  A sacrificial tree  :evillaugh:

I always put one up and Bronte and Dino are fine - Harry (been missing for one year now) climbed it once the first year and with his brother Dino they used to play football with the odd bauble that they would tease off between the pair of them but ever since they never look at it (and I usually put 2 up). However, at 18 months Heidi and Huxley are very kitten like and I strongly suspect we are going to have some fun with them this year!

We have 3 fibre optics of varying sizes and when we moved last year Robin gave the cats their own one in the family room and they had 4 weeks of fun helping daddy undress it and re dress it and the hunt the ornaments!

They love them all and we really enjoy chriostmas with them and the dogs - just hope Sky doesn't think they are indoor trees this year! :innocent:
