Aww she's beautiful and looks very much like my lily.  I was told she was a tortie but she's more white than anything.

For some reason I can't see the pictures, but I am at work which might be why.

But - it sounds like your first outing was pretty plain sailing really compared to Alfie's. We went out with him the first couple of times and he had no problems. First time we let him out unattended we checked on him after about 15 mins to find him 20ft up a tree!

Nope Smidgen's mother never showed any signs of being on heat. But she got pregnant with her last litter when she bumped into the local barn cat on a quiet walk in her own garden. Personally I am very glad of this, but her owner was not, and had her spayed a week after Smidgen, the last of the litter, left home. Until then she was kept inside.

cats are induced ovulators, so dont have to be in heat to be mated, being in heat just shows the males they are ready. I will see if I have any pics of Shadow round the time she was neutered so you can see size wise. these were taken after she was neutered, and she went to her new home 2 weeks after.

ah right, my understanding was they nneded to be in heat to be mated, shall be keeping her innow til spay-day!
last vet visit, was a few weeks ago, they said they wanted her to be a bit bigger before spaying and chipping her, as she may seem big in the pics but she is quite tiny still, she was very tiny when we rescued her too,

this is her last week with my 7 year old son, he is also small and skinny so she really does show here her size.
she keeps on getting a runny tum, she dosent tolerate quite alot of different flavour foods, so we have to try and keep to chick, but she will scavenge anything she can.....she even checks the dog bowls!

i will speak to the vet on tuesday when kipper has his jabs.

hopefully these show her size a bit better, i will try and weigh her too. but rest assured she will be in now, thanks for letting me know!

I would have a chat iwth your vet, some do it at 5 months, some at 6 - I had a 6mo done last year who was only the size of a 5mo, but she would have been in heat one week later. Size wise, she looks big enough to be spayed, some vets do them at 8wo.

Chel a tom could go after her even if she isnt in season, can happen quickly and she could scale the fence before you could catch her.
At 5 months shes big enough to spay  ;D
Its best to get them done before the first season too.

hiya, thanks for the comments, she'll only be out when im about, and only for short periods, as she was too small to chip when she had her injections, so im hoping to have that done next week if they think she is big enough, she went out for a play today with kipper, climbed the tree again before running back in...she didnt think much to the wind!

she is too young atm to be spayed, but will be as she nears 6months, ive not had a female cat before, i know they are noisy when in season, but how will i know if she is? with dogs its easy as their bits swell up and they bleed...

I would class her as a white and tortie, or a calico.

She is gorgeous - is she neutered? If not, I would be wary of outdoor access in case a tom comes into the garden to try and get at her.

dot has had here and there time in the garden, but today was the dryest in aaages...so she went outside for the afternoon, i had things to do out there too, so i hovered at a distance, she had to be rescued from the neighbours garden once, but only because she was watchin a bird and fell in!

she is now 5 months ish

worm pouncing!

oooer a long way back down!!

she cant decide if the grass or the tree is the most fun!
she is now flat out on my bed, absolutely zonked!
