Tails up is when they are really happy , so it will come  ;D

I know my scaredy cat Sasa is in permanent tail down mode at the moment , which is sad.

What a lovely boy!

Our rescue cat Smoke had a thing about food, she still does. Every time I top up the dry food she's got to have the first mouth full so I believe she didn't have all day access to food.

She'd made up for it in the past year though!

More pictures and updates on how he settles in.

He is settling well.
the first day and a half he spend pretty much in hiding, then we prevented his access to upstairs rooms where he adopted the landing, luckily we have a large landing with a side window he like sitting on the windowsill.
we have noticed a few strange things like yesterday i took him some dry food upstairs to encourage him to eat and the last few bits he dragged out of the bowl with his paw as he couldn't lick them out.
Also he seems to enjoy pleasing us, it can be difficult to get him purring. but as soon as you stroke him on the windowsill he will jump down for some fuss and he's rubbing all over me and enjoying tummy rubs.  :Luv2:
one thing is for sure he was most definately in a home as a kitten as he is well socialised and very affectionate, he don't apply his claws either.  ;)

we're trying to get a feeding routine in place this morning i managed to get him from under the bed easily (he likes to sleep beneath us) and he had a half a pouch of wet for breakfast. he has access to dry all day, theres a small amount of dry upstairs the rest in his bowl downstairs as he seems to freak out downstairs when it's light.

Desley is right although he looks really well fed when you rub his tum you can feel ribs.

another thing i find strange is his posture - Jet walked head high and tail up. Garfield walks hunched up and tail down i don't know if this a gender difference or due to the fact he's still a little wary of us?  :-:

i do keep picking him up and trying to settle him downstairs (ie once or twice a day)but he freaks and runs back upstairs, i'm sure he'll come round. sooner rather than later we hope as i don't find it particularly comfortable sat on the floor.  :tired:

Lovely pics, I am glad he is settling well and out of the open more - he didn't do that much in the 2 weeks he was here!! I think he may have been a stray for longer than just 2 weeks before X Mas (making it a month by the time I picked him up) as although he looked big, it didn't take a lot to feel his ribs.

Thanks, he is a snuggle bug! I am still a little wary of him as Jet would of had my arm off if i tried to stroke her tummy. so he's very very different to Jet which is exactly what we needed really.

Jet was our first cat, and she will never be forgotten, also My hubby has never had to grieve for anybody or any furbaby before so he was shocked how empty he felt. the day it happened we thought maybe we'll wait a few weeks, but after a night at home with no furbaby strolling around or meowing to be fed we decided not to wait.

We chose not to have another black and white cat for a while to prevent any confusion. Desley understood how we felt, although we had travelled to manchester to look at him there was no pressure to adopt him but we fell in love almost instantly (he was hiding so all we saw was his tum for a while) and we could not leave without him.

My hubby is thrilled that he enjoys a good tummy rub, all it takes is a few strokes and he kind of flops down and exposes his tummy for tickling. earlier i was stroking his tum and he grabbed my arm with his front paws (no claws) and rubbed his face all over my arm, so i guess that's settled i'm marked!  :naughty: we're offically his slaves!  :Luv: :Luv2:

we won't come downstairs at the moment, and is still wary of noise but i went upstairs on the landing to take some more pictures and he was sat on the landing windowsill he jmped down and was all over me like a rash. i also took his breakfast up with me that he hadn't eaten and he polished it off. i think the readily available food is something he's not quiet used to yet. We don't know exactly how long he was a stray for but it can't have been for too long as he's in really good condition.

I also thuink he's a spitting image of puss in boots in shrek!  :wow:

Please welcome my recent adoption Garfield.

We found his name quite suiting, although he looks (c)hunky he's 80% fur!

we've finally managed to keep him out of hiding for a few hours, since he arrived he's managed to fully disappear twice (one under bookshelf and then behind a bed setee) and most of the time he's been crouched around the downstairs toilet; not a particularly heathly habit!

Earlier today we were concerned about him not eating so I phoned Desley for some advice, whilst on the phone he was determined to prove me wrong and ate dry food from my hubbys hand then proceeded to munch on his wet!
