Title: A bird in the hand
Post by: Gillian Harvey on September 13, 2009, 19:36:42 PM
I'm cat sitting at the moment - for the Fab Four, as they are known  :evillaugh: Yesterday evening I went in, said hello to the cats who were all waiting in the kitchen for their food, walked through to the lounge to open the patio doors like I normally do - then walked back into the kitchen towards the sink where their dishes were draining - and got quite a shock to see this.......

Camera every ready in my hand of course! - Anyway, it just sat there for a while, and I stood there for a while, thinking about how I was going to get it outside LOL! - when it flew up on top of the kitchen cupboards. Cats were totally disinterested in it at this point and just wishing I would get on and feed 'em LOL! Luckily, I opened the back door and the bird could see its escape route and flew off out - perfectly fine, phew!

How did it get in there Gillian?

Well, now I think about it, yesterday, I could see feathers in the lounge and just assumed one of them (usually Harry - its always a 'Harry'  ;) ) had caught (and eaten) a bird, although I saw no evidence of remains  - so I'm wondering if it was in the house somewhere yesterday (having escaped the clutches of one of them) and had just been pottering about and found its way to the sink? (without any of the cats interfering?!!) I dunno  :Dont know:

Yep, never like to miss a good photo opportunity LOL!  :evillaugh:

When I was thinking about how I was going to get the bird outside, I was just hovering the washing up bowl over him (thought twice about doing that after all though, cos didnt know how I would then pick him up!) and he actually hopped onto my hand  - stood there quite calmy and I thought great, I'll just walk him towards the back door, and that was when he flew up onto the cupboards.

Any idea how it got in?

I had one - the same type I think - a Starling? a couple of years ago that had fallen down the chimney - it was fine and even left several calling cards - one on my nice glass tiffany light fitting   :evillaugh:

btw - that sink would come up lovely with a bit of descaler  ;)  :evillaugh:

Vim?  :evillaugh:

Is it Shiny Sinks? - my mum loves it. My sink is Corian so I have to use Barkeepers friend or bleach (I am getting daring and using other cream scourer but OH will kill me if I ruin it  :scared: )
