Post by: Canterbury_cats (Sharon) on August 01, 2009, 17:51:26 PM
I have had several calls today and yesterday for indoor cats and one lady is prepared to take a pair of senior, FIV or cats with an health condition. " children no animals in house youngest child is 2 oldest 8..

2 others as well one that are being HC this week.. But we dont have anything. Transport may be an issue..We are in Kent, Canterbury area the homes are all Whitstable based and vary as some have no children..

I have emailed out local Cp branches to us but nothing as yet.. I dont really want to tell these people in the whole of Kent havent managed to find them indoor puss cats... So lte me know if you have anything in mind.. and i can tell you more..

Thanks

Sharon, are the homes close to Kent? I'm useless with geography. If so, I can contact (Super)Niall who had Dougie before Baggy gave him a forever home to see if he knows of any indoor or older cats needing homes. Or indeed, has any himself!

All homes are in Kent, Whitstable in fact..
One home has 2 teenage children, mum a teacher wants 1 cat
One is a family with 2 young kiddies, FIV, disabled, deaf wants 2 ..or senior moggies, large flat
One is a gentleman on his own flat again but access is difficult as its on an entry system but the cat could get out and have access outside if the owner was around to let him out. At home at the moment but may go back to work FT or PT in due course.

None have been HC yet as its been abit hectic this way so it may be done this coming wk or so.. so more details to follow.. But it would be a darn shame to loose such homes. Transport may be an issue for the family with young kiddies as they now dont have a car at the moment.. But a friend cat help if needed. There is a limit to how far they would travel though

He is truly amazing. I don't often say that about people, but Niall has a heart of gold. There's a girl called Emma that's exactly the same; she takes things on when she's pushed to the limit because she can't bear what will happen to them if she doesn't.

Both of them regularly save dogs from "doggy death row."

Glad you're sorting out some homes for some of his cats. :)

Is he having confirmed results sharon? My vets had a batch of inhouse snap tests throwing up positives on cats you wouldnt expect and all turned out negative through external tests  ;D
Fingers crossed between you both you can fill the vacancies  ;D

Are you offering Sharon? I do what I can with regards to Nialls intake, but I help Nicky too so it gets confusing and a bit overwhelming at times..... ;) I'll ask and see what he says.

I agree entirely. I've never seen someone try so hard to help so many staffies!

Was wondering whether Sharon had seen this - http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,26802.0.html  Two indoor healthy 3 year olds, neutered, vaccinated - looking for a new home due to owner emigrating. Owner is in Portsmouth but willing to travel to the right home.

I just spoke to her but hadn't seen this. She has been out all day and will probably have a look on purrs at some point. Otherwise, she is going to phone me later so I will tell her. Portsmouth isn't a million miles from Kent - maybe 2+ hours by car so something could be sorted. Obviously we will do homechecks but the owner could do their own as well if they wanted although we are careful that cats go to good homes.
