I think losing a cat can bring back memories of a recent loss. I am sure they are all playing happily, and I hope it isn't too hard on you and the others at the rescue, losing cats is never easy

thanks everyone for the kind thoughts for Honey... I'm sure she is happy with her dad now and playing happily on the bridge!

We're not 100% sure why but since Honey's passing we have been thinking an awful lot about little Bobo that we lost a few months ago at 8weeks old. It was such a traumatic end for the wee one and we were gutted, heartbroken, for a long time and for some reason Honey's passign seems to have brought it all back.

We just hope that they are all playing happily together now!

oh no you must be upset, bless poor honey, you have me in tears here! i cant find my cat and theres selfish ignorant ***** out there who dont care a dam about their responsibility's.... its unfair

BUT... i believe she was in the best place for it to happen with you, i dont know much about you but you care a lot and she will have known im sure, she had all your loves, and where mignt she have been without it,

So sorry to hear about Honey, RIP little girl.

Reminds me of TC who we took in at the age of 18 1/2. He had been with his family since a kitten but over the last few months had lost his eyesight and was often found wandering outside and handed in to different cat rescues because no one knew where he came from. The first three times the owners collected him but when he ended up at the Bue Cross they decided they didn't want him back.

Luckily the Blue Cross phoned one of our Veterinary Nurses where I was working at the time, and as TC had caught my eye on a couple of occasions when he had been brought to us by the RSPCA, it was decided I should go and get him.

He spent 6 glorious months with us before he finally became too frail to do anything and his quality of life seemed to be suffering, so he was peacefully put to rest. On the same day, I received one of those marketing letters from the Blue Cross asking for donations. I always said TC had sent it, so they now get £8 per month from me.

She is in a better place now and I hope she is with her Dad and all cuddled in with him like she should be. I think we were all feeling.... well..... not defeated.... but.... I think let down by the human race last night!!!

She deserved better and it does infuriate us at how cold they were about dumping the cats so they could 'empty' the house!!!!

But in the end we gave her love. I cuddled her in my arms during her last few hours speaking to her and letting her know she wasn't alone. (actually think she'd lost her sight later in the day) and despite the bad fit at the end at least it was quick and she didn't suffer as she'd just slept for hours before hand.

It is heart breaking and I'm not afraid to say that we shed quite a few tears as we always do. We treat each and every one that comes through our doors like our own and although it may make what we do emotionally draining at times I wouldn't have it any other way. I just couldn't be 'cold' to what we do.

Granted sometimes you wonder why we do the job because of this but at the end of the day... I think that's what makes us good at what we do

I'm so sorry for you all.

I look at the returned Smokie and worry about her not finding a home and dying on me - and she's only 12 at the moment. Oddly, I was thinking it last night as I was spending some time with her on my bed (well actually she was sleeping and seemed quite happy while I watched I'm a celeb

) but I just thought how tragic it would be.

Rest in peace little Honey.

It breaks my heart to read this too. We have a gorgeous little cat from a similar "family" if you can call them that. She is about 20 and skin and bones. Not through neglect, she was very much cherished by her meowmy, just not meowmy's family when it was too late. She sits under a chair and growls at anyone who comes close.

I just hope the late humans can't see what happens to their poor fubabes, it's so sad for all concerned.

Poor Honey

It's all been said - she had love at the end. I can just never fathom how people can have pets for years and not form a bond. Also, If a relative died, I would have thought caring for their pet/s would have been one last thing that could be done for them. I'm sure none of these people have trouble dividing up money and posessions. Maybe CP etc should advise people to make stipulations in wills. Including careful wording in case pets "disappear".

It really makes me feel sad to hear about poor oldies in Rescue. Especially the poor babies who have been dumped by cruel "family" of the owner

how could they possibly think that he would be proud of them for doing that? Or that they were doing it "for the best".

I am happy to think that they will meet on the bridge though - and both will never be in pain again.

I am so very sorry to hear this, I hate reading of oldies in rescues, and more so when they die in rescues (hence Zia being here, her friend died before they could get a placement, I couldnt let that happen to her too). She did deserve better, but at least she was in a good rescue with people who loved her. RIP little one

We all really upset here tonight as we have lost one of our oldies Honey that we have been trying to find a 'special' placement for.

She has been turned down time and time again because of her age of 15 - 16yrs and despite all our best efforts and trying to give her a semi normal life she has given up

She fitted around 10am this morning and despite a rush to the vets... where she was as bright as a button... a few hours later she went downhill and fitted again about an hour ago and then passed away.

Just feel SO damn sorry for her... she had a great life with her dad and 2 fur pals until he died and the family didn't want to know so passed them onto us despite us telling them our concerns about the effect it may have on Honey due to her age.... and they just didn't care!

Its so damn infuriating and she was such a sweety. Cases like this just really get us mad as well as upset... she deserved better in her final years.

I suppose we'll just have to take solace in having given her all the love and attention we could lavish on her in her final days and hours.

think we all just feeling a bit frustrated tonight
