Ela - I know from reading stuff on CatChat as well as on here that you do wonderful work for cats with FIV. I wish there were more people out there like you

hope you didn't think I was criticising you!!

I just was not 100% sure you knew I authorised the little one to be gently PTS for the right reasons. I just wanted to confirm that because a little one has FIV (unless suffering ) is not a reason in itself I would authorise PTS

Sooty lived for 7 years after he was diagnosed with FIV and once he learned to take it a bit easier he had a very happy, healthy life up to the end.

We do have a FIV unit and home many as they can live a full life. However, in this case there were other things going on and as cat was suffering our vet thought in the cats interest the kindest thing was to gently PTS. If our vet thinks a cat can have a quality life we will authorise any amount of treatment.

I know, what I meant was - it's just so sad that, if he'd had the right treatment early enough, he could have had a much happier life and you might not have had to have him PTS... hope you didn't think I was criticising you!!  :Nooooo:

Hope your day gets better Ela ! Poor old thing, I don't understand why people just abandon cats like that... our Sooty lived for 7 years after he was diagnosed with FIV and once he learned to take it a bit easier he had a very happy, healthy life up to the end.

Run free little one

Lets hope the day improves, before 8.30 I had to authorise a cat to be PTS,  :( it was middle aged, unneutered, very ill, suffering, FIV+  and all the signs of FIP. The sad bit it years ago someone moved and left it behind, an old gentleman took it on  and then when her could care for it no more it was just left to stray. How sad, if only the little ones plight had been bought to our attention when it was first abandoned things would hopefully have worked out much better.
