They are cheaper than the RSPCA ones then, they are £2k per pen. Most CP branches do actually have a policy where you dont mix fosters with residents, to reduce the transmission of any nasty illnesses, as it is something you have to weigh up risks when fostering. Sounds like you are really enjoying fostering, I can't imagine ever not doing it either.

Lisa, Desley got it right on the button! I have 3 of my own and it wouldn't be fair to have a parade of cats in the house, and my Teddie has suffered from chronic diarrhoea which has just started to settle (fingers crosed, touch wood), so I wouldn't want to risk upsetting her. And as a pen costs around the fifteen hundred mark , thats why the CPL want to make sure I'm going to do fostering long term rather than putting one in and 2 weeks down the road I think 'nah, this isn't for me'. Never gonna happen though ;D

Lisa, Alex has a few cats of her own. I would imagine the 6 months is to see if you are serious, pens arne't cheap, Ela can say exactly much, but I know htey are in the 4 figure range.

Alex, I think you are right at keeping them separate, apart from socialisation times. Mine dont tolerate newcomers that well (they dont even like each other!!), which is why my fosters are kept in their room while I am at work, it gives them some time to themselves then.

is the reason u wont let them sleep inside incase u get too attached and dont wanna rehome them ?
id have them all in my bedroom  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
I'd have them all there too lol, but I feel that it would be too stressful on Teddie too have more cats in the house! I'm very concious of anything that might upset her tummy further, and stress could be a major factor, so kitties in the shed, but they all seem very happy where they are. Mum is such a purr monster :), and as I said, after i've been with the CPL 6 months, I'll get a proper pen from them ;D

Aww, they are lovely, I am glad you finally managed to get someone to listen to you, and good luck with this little family - it is a blessing for Esther really, she doesn't have to have any more babies now.

Oh they'll definitely be brought in for socialisation, really looking forward to that bit. What I meant was that they wont be sleeping in the house at night unless we get really cold nights.  :)

Nope! I'm being strict with myself . Only if it gets really cold at night then I will bring them in

You cant be too strict, the babies will need socialising and house noise training  ;) ;)

erm , NEVER  I'm having too much fun with mum and babies ;D. I can't get over how good mum is, she came straight out of the carrier when I went in with her breakfast this morning, let me have a pet and then ate some food. I was picking the babies up and she only gave me a quick look when they squeaked then went straight back to her food, ate some more then back in to the little ones.  :) She used the tray during the night too, so I think she has settled in quite happily! Though, not having other cats around her is helping I think, the vets did say she wasn't happy with others so close to her in the cattery!

Nope! I'm being strict with myself . Only if it gets really cold at night then I will bring them in. It's actually lovely and cosy in there. I've put a heavy blanket in front of the door to block any drafts, insulated the walls with some cardboard and I've put in a large carrier instead of the open box and that has a blanket over it, and she also has a heat pad! My OH is thinking of moving in with her  :evillaugh:

Her 'owner' >:( abandoned her and a few other cats when they moved home. The other cats go taken in by various people, except for poor Esther :(. The next door neighbour was feeding her,  but when she realised she was pregnant she called CP. Apparently this is her 4th litter in 2 years >:( >:(, but at least the poor baby wont be having any more :)

Oh and the little fella has been named Eddie ;D

As I said in another thread, I got my first rescue in today (started helping with the CPL). This lovely lady is Esther and she has three gorgeous babies. The two tabbies are Ella and Emily and the little ginger lad is to be named by my OH when he comes in later :) She has a wonderful temperament. Leting me stroke her and the babies no problem, lots of purrs and actually rolled onto her back for her tummy to be tickled ;D. The babies are one week old today!
