Title: A FIRST
Post by: Ela on September 09, 2008, 08:44:19 AM
I cannot believe our luck, I actually have someone waiting for a 'golden oldie'. We have one but she hates other cats so that is no good as the caller already has 3 cats. Also we have a home visit pending  for 16 year old Tabitha. Recently we have homed a 14. 15 & 16 year old. The younger cats seem not be chosen just now.

Its nice to hear that oldies are being taken.  Have to admit I would consider another rather than a kitten because they are such less hassle.

That's good news. Kittens don't appeal to me any more either. I'm looking for a 3-6 year old at the moment. Kittens are so much more work and I don't think my other 4 could be bothered with a kitten.

I've only had one kitten.  Sasha (bridge babe) was four, Summer was two, Smartie was nearly three and Skye (the angelical looking hooligan) was twelve weeks.  Admittedly they were all fab when I got them (including said hooligan lol) but friends have had problems with scratching, litter trays etc with kittens.

Just need to persuade hubby that four is no more hassle than three.   He loves them and would have another but in his words "we don't want to spoil the equilibrium"  :P

I have 4. I've been from 2 to 1, up to 3, back down to 2 and then up to 4. The initial 2 were the happiest together but the happiest they have been since then was when we went up to 4. No matter what mood each one is in they either get to be on their own, have someone to snuggle with or some one to play with now. I'm on the lookout for number 5 but hubby drew the line when I mentioned taking on another pair. 6 x the vet bills and insurance didn't seem to appeal for some reason.

BTW - good luck with the rest of the oldies. Hope they all find the homes the deserve.

Glad to hear people are considering the older cats, i don't see the attraction with kittens.

Me neither, when I have them they just remind me why I don't want one.

Good news that peeps want to re-home older cats, they have just as much, if not more to offer.  To be honest, much as I love cute kittens, I'm not sure I'd ever adopt them as you have no idea of personalities or anything like that.

It's not just me then. I find them irritating - just like human kids  :evillaugh:
