I posted before about one of our cats, he ran off when we moved here a year ago, since then he has snuck in to feed but no more, we are moving shortly and I really dont want to leave him to fend for himself.
Today hes come in and Ive managed to catch him, he is very nervous now, one of our other cats bullies him so I cant keep him in the house, Ive exhausted other avenues freinds etc but no joy. The only offer is hampshire which is just to far away.
He will come around no doubt with a little one to one and and a stable enviroment, if I let him out now theres no telling if we will see him again before we move hence the homing needing to be today/tomorrow. Long shot i realise
If anyone can help then please let me know he is 2 years old, male unnuetured ( because of the fact he ran off as soon as we moved not because we are irresponsible) and his vaccs obviously now are out of date, at the moment he is trying to push his way out of every window so any help appreciated. We are situated near Coalville, Leics.
Ive just defleaed him and he is looking quite healthy if not a little lean.
Pic attached hes the one behind the ginger.

Ahhhh, he's sweet. What's he called?
Have you tried contacting local rescues?
-
Hes called Tackleberry, but unfortunately I missed a small window and hes sqeezed out and run off again :(
Rescues arent interested.
-
have you got a neighbour that can look out for him?
-
Sadly not, the local farmer is the only person we know, the village has been fairly unhospitable.
He doesnt like cats, and I know if I ask it wont really secure anything.
-
the village has been fairly unhospitable.
Yea most villages are like that took 3 years for mine to just say hello then I left, I really wish I could help with the cat but your just too far away and he would have to become a housecat up here
-
have you looked on cat chat, sorry if you already have but I don't really have any advice and I'm to far to help myself - was it a rescue place in hampshire that could help?
-
Hey!
I don't know what rescue you have tried, but Cats Protection and other charities will loan out humane traps so that we could at least get him neutered. CP's main priority is to neuter cats and so should be able to help. They will also be able to take him in when they have space.
-
If he was neutered then he may well accept a home with other cats. Borrowing a trap from a rescue is the best option. :luck:
-
Whats the situation with this cat please
-
we move in 2/3 weeks and havent found anything for him yet except a home in hampshire and cant get him there, last time they came up they missed him, we cannot get him to stay in the house and cant shut him in a room as he gets upset.
If he would settle we wouldnt rehome he would stay with us but he just doesnt, im hoping he will come in when we move so we can at least get him up to the new house, but of course not easy.
-
Sadly, upsetting him a little to ensure a new home might be necessary if he does a runner every time.
-
Is there anyone you can borrow a dog crate from so that next time he comes in to feed you can at least confine him to that. At least if you have him confined and can find someone to take him, you know he is around for them to collect. It can sometimes be hard enough finding a place for them, let alone him not being around when the place becomes available.
-
Did have a dog crate but sold it after the puppy grew up, he came in this morning, Ive risked it and shut him in the lounge, thing is if he gets out he wont come back for several weeks now, Just hoping we can sort something. All the other cats are in a hufty lol
Picked him up and gave him a cuddle, he seems to want it but is a little scared, My car broke yesterday something we just cannot afford right now all comes at once eh.
-
ETA: hes booked in for nueturing tomorrow, so if anyone can offer a home please let me know.
-
can your hampshire people not come back for him now you know where he is?
-
No have got in touch theyve said they dont want to travel again, so got to keep looking
-
what a shame, I hope you manage to get sorted out, it seems like you've tried hard
-
Hiya,
Has he been captured now or is he still on the run?
Sorry should have read it properly... you have him now.
Are you able to transport him within a set radius of you at all? - i know you mentioned the car broke. *crosses fingers*
-
Hi
Hes been neutured today and is much fussier so I think Im going to keep an eye out for a nice home rather than a mousing home. Can transport derbys/notts poss leics and north warks/south staffs.
-
Still looking he ran off for 4 days but came back, he really needs a home where he can be outdoors most of the time, of anyone can help please pm or post moving in 5 days
-
glad he's back, really hope you manage to get him sorted out
-
We have an available foster place - in Birmingham though, is there any way you could get him there??
*sorry!!! my fault, the foster is unavailable until the 16th June!* which is no good. erm.... will crosspost and cross fingers.
-
I hope we have someone in Birmingham that could keep him for a night or two, fingers crossed
-
cant do brum we are moving to derby on sat which makes it impossible, Im surrounded by boxes and packing lol
-
Have a foster placement offered to you in Spalding Lincs.
Any good?
-
If you can't transport for whatever reason, maybe an urgent transport request could also be put up to help get him to Spalding? - just a thought.
-
We could maybe help with transport - we are not too far from Spalding - let us know if help is needed.
-
Oooh great. fingers crossed then... :)
-
:scared:
Summerleft is this do-able/okay? we need to get moving with this before it gets too late. Let me know. :-)
-
no sorry I want him to go to a perm home straight from me not foster. thanks though
-
Still willing to help but will need to know by Thursday if possible. We are on the A1 between Grantham and Stamford (About 25 miles from Spalding)
-
Im sorry Summer but I think you might be expecting too much, he will be safe with a fosterer and cant run off again until a permanent home is found for him. Are you taking him to Derby with you now?
Offer is still there if you change your mind.
-
I actually think the foster is a very good idea, give him chance to be tamed/settle a little before being homed to someone suitable (and also more time to find that special someone) - they are experienced and are willing to take him on, and also he'd have the back up of the rescue the fosterer is working with who will vet his future home.
-
Any more news ?
-
Summerleft, I think fostering is not a bad solution. From what I can tell you're moving in three days - so unless you can take this guy with you, your options are limited.
I've fostered cats that have needed homes before, and can honestly say that the attachment you feel towards them means that not only are you determind to find "just the right home" but also that the cat is given as much attention and socialising as your own cats. Please reconsider - I'm sure Tackleberry (that's right, isn't it?) would be very well cared for.
-
sounds as though fostering intially would be the best option for both you and tackleberry in all honesty.
He may well settle and his nature subdue a little now that he is neutered and having him in foster puts him in a home environment where he can be loved and monitored until the perfect home for him comes along.
I would definately consider the offer summer
-
The offer of transport is still open ?
-
a shame summer hasn't taken your offer, he sounds like a nice cat
-
Oh well, I just hope she managed to get him sorted out.
-
Has anyone heard anymore on this one?
-
Not a word MM, I just hope the little one is okay.
-
what a shame, I hope he didn't end up on the farm
-
I just hope he didnt escape again when boxes were being moved, he will still be hormonal!
-
So sad that the offer was not accepted and hope that he is safe and has not been left behind :(
-
Tackleberry went with his current owners to their new home. :)
-
Good news. :Luv2:
-
that's good news, hopefully he'll settle down now he's done
