Will let you have a few guesses before I reveal!! The only clue you have is it isn't one of the two homed this year!!
-
Wasn't Tom homed last year? If so, my vote is with Tom. If not, I've absolutely no idea
-
is it Tom...God help you !!l lol  :wow:
-
Surely not Tom...............is it?
-
Yep, your all right, it is Tom!! PArt of me is really pleased to be seeing him again, I just hope that he doesn't slip back into his old habits!!
-
Fingers crossed it all works out okay how long is he with you for ?
-
Hopefully just 2 weeks. I hope the poor love doesn't think he is being abandoned again!! I am not going to bother isolating him, he knows the two here at the moment, and I am looking forward to a hot water bottle again!!
-
Awww i hope not ..just his holiday home !
-
I hope Tom is Ok, are his new owners going away or something. Poor Tom I thought he had got a nice home forever.
Hope Molly, Tiger and Finn give him a nice welcome and Tom behaves himself ;D
-
Sorry, forgot to mention that part!! My friend is having to have some structural work done on the house, so needs to move back in with her parents, whose dog chases cats.
-
Then she is very sensible to get Tom to somewhere he knows and away from all the noise and dust and stuff ;D
-
Yeah - that and they are having to replace part of the side of the house, so no one can live in it. I am only half looking forward to him coming to stay though, I have to admit.
-
WEll, she has brought him, he looks really well, he has lost some more weight - I am tempted to pop him up to the vets when I take Molly on Thurs (my vet did fall in love with him). Will have to explain to my fr4iend about keeping an eye on his claws though, he has shown no interest in giong out at her house, and they were rather on the long side. She is coming back up on Thurs to see him again, Tiger has spat at him and made him think twice at walking past her, and Molly just looked at him, she didn't spit or growl (a bonus in her case!!), so should be fun this evening - he is still wandering slightly confused at the moment - but have already had to move both food bowls from him, so nothing new there!! Some of you will also be glad to know that I had my friend sign a little 'contract' giving me permission to take him to the vets if needed and agreeing to reimburse me. Will take some pics tonight and post them
-
Awww bless him looking forward to the pics and glad that Molly seems to be okay with him at least ..funny that considering she is normally such a grumble butt LOL
-
WEll, that has changed, I brought him upstairs and popped him on the bed, and he spat at her first, so she then had to have a go back!! So, he ran back down and is seeming to prefer staying downstairs now. WAs hoping to have him as a hot water bottle again!!
-
Oh well LOL, things havent changed much then ;D
-
She has calmed down a lot overnight - he came up to bed, and she was intermittently growling at him, but he ignored her, and by the time the alarm went off, she relented to coming for her usual snooze fuss, and was close to him, and didn't bother much when they both jumped off the bed expecting food. Tiger was a nightmare though, she has actually swiped at him. He has learnt how to spit at them back now though! Will have to take a pic of his face later, he has lost loads of his face, and his tail is thinner too. I think she can give him a bit more food now as well!!
-
Awww bless that handsome Tom :Luv: :Luv:
Can't wait to see the pics
-
My friend still hasn't rang or text to see how he is doing, am getting slightly worried now!! She said that Tom never went out at hers, but it was one of the first thigns he tried to do here!! I certainly wont be too bothered to see him go back to my friend again, he is still as hard work as he was the first time round!! And Molly doesn't sleep with me as much now, which I dont like. I did have all 3 in the front room last night, Tiger half accepted him sat on the sofa, but did spit occasionally.
-
Desley, have you heard from Toms owner yet?
I've left my cats (at home) with a friend before when I went away on a couple of occasions. The first time was only for a few days and I called her every night. The second time was for ten days and by now she was wise to my excessive worrying and sent me a daily report by text! :)
Hope your guys aren't too put out by his return.
-
Hi Des,
It's good to see Tom back for a couple of weeks...hope his weight loss is just down to him not being able to stick his beak into every other trough :evillaugh:
I'm sure that Molly will come to accept him again soon. Maybe Tom only wants to go out because he needs to find his own space away from all the other cats.
Let's have a look at the handsome beast.
Lots of love to you both
Roz
-
JAck - nope, still no word from her. I hope I am reading too much into this.
Roz, I bet his weight loss is down to that!!
I dont think that is the reason to be honest, there are only 2 cats loose in the house at the moment, Tiger sticks to downstairs, Molly upstairs. Its more like he remembers what he used to do - fortunately none of my neighbours cats are going out much, but I still wont risk it.

Ooooooo he does look slim doesn't he? I know he needed to lose a bit more weight but I hope your friend has been feeding him properly. I know she got him from you so knows he will be well looked after but if he was my cat I would still be wanting to know how he was getting on. Hope he doesn't cause too much disruption to the household - that would be so sad when you are just getting things sorted.
-
Des, Tom is looking gorgeous...very slim indeed. Is that worrying do you think? Just reading between the lines.
Welcome home Tombo. :welcome:
Lots of love :Luv:
Roz
-
Tom looks great ;D but very worrying that you not heard from the owner
-
Still not heard from my friend, she was supposed to be coming round tonight with more food and some litter for him, will give her till 8 before ringing and finding out exactly waht is going on - I wont be very pleasant to her though!! Took Tom with me to the vets, the vet was so pleased to see he had a waist, shoulders and a spine!! He weighs 6kg now, which is really good - when he was first weighed in Aug 05, he was 8.96kg, and was weighed 2 weeks after coming here and being rationed, so there is a good chance he did actually weigh over 9kg when his owners 'got rid'
-
thats very heavy...............i hoping misa not any heavier than during summer but i suspect he is.......have reduced biscuits and will reduce more in a couple of weeks, trouible is he cant walk past a dish without trying out the contents
-
i dont want to go into too many details, but it is looking more and more like my friend has dumped Tom on me - she is claiming that personal issues made her forget he had no food or litter, but hasn't asked how he is, nor offered to come and sort it out. I just need to e-mail HQ to find out how I stand, as our contract does say we have the right to remove the cat if there are concerns on the welfare, which I think this classes as a(as well as stuff I found out last night). She will then be given a deadline to sort this out. Fortunately, a very kind person on here has offered to pick him up and place him into a home environment for me, so at least if she does say she can't keep him, he is sorted. I am really sad and angry about this - it will be the first failed foster (have had a few firsts this year, but didn't want this to be one of them), and ironically, the only one that has gone to such a long standing friend - this also means that the friendship is pretty much over - we have been friends for nearly 20 years, and she can do this to me.
-
Desley, I'm so sorry. Both for the fact that poor old Tom has been dumped, and the fact that someone who has called theirself your friend for so long could put you in such a position. Does she have a good explanation? Or is it a case of not thinking through the responsibilities of cat ownership?
-
0h Desley, i'm so sorry for both you and Tom. Why on earth didn't your friend talk it over with you if things weren't working out instead of just dumping Tom in such an underhand way. I suppose we should be thankful that she brought him back to you and didn't just abandon him to his fate. Glad you've got someone to help you with this one.
-
 Sending big hugs to both of you. Some people!
-
Oh Desley I am so sorry and why did it have to be poor Tom..............wondering if his new slim line frame is due to not being fed!
I do hope Tom gets a good home cos I thought he was doing so well and its very bad of your friend to behave like this.
-
I know Gill!!
-
Im sorry to hear about Tom. I hope things turn out ok
love
Tab
-
Thanks -can't say much about the plans, but he will be here for at least 2 weeks, which isn't good, as I can't let the girls out while he is here, as I can't risk him getting out terrorising the neighbours cats and he doesnt tolerate the lead.
-
sorry to hear about this situation with Tom , hope things get sorted
-
Still no word from my friend, so she is getting a 7 day notice letter. If that doesn't do anything, we will have to look for a home for Tom, and he simply can't stay here much longer.
-
Oh Desley been catching up and can't believe what has happened to poor Tom :(
Your so called friend's attitude surprises me. We all know situations can change but why she wasn't honest in the first place beats me.
Thank goodness he has you to look after him till other arrangements can be made.
Sending him lots of love and cuddles from me and purrs from Mupps and Rascal xxxx
-
You know what i think of your friend ...!
I have tried my friend again tonight but still nothing will let you know tomorrow if i hear anything.
-
Yep!! Thanks Lise, it really does mean so much to me. The letter has been written, will just check it one final time tomorrow before sending it - if anyone knows any technical wording that does need to be used, please pm me, I dont want her to be able to find any loopholes. It is just so sad that I am having to do this to someone I thought was a friend. And sad for Tom that his future is unsettled again, he is 13.5 now, he doesn't deserve this.
-
Oh, Desley, I am really sorry - I hadn't read this thread through at all before :-[
This sounds outrageous. Poor poor Tom, he doesn't deserve this nonsense. If you want to email me the letter, I'll happily have a look at it tomorrow morning for you (I have had to write a few snottograms in my time).
:Luv:
-
Have e-mailed it, thanks a lot for the offer C, it really does mean a lot.
-
Poor Tom :( Just when he thought he'd bagged himself a home.
-
I am so sorry for Tom however better back with you than in a home where there is a problem. Every week I receive a call from someone asking me to put a cat/s on the list as a friend has asked someone to care for a cat or sometimes cats for a week or two then they won't take them back. It never ceases to amaze me. Thankfully up to dates it has not been one we have homed.
-
I've emailed the draft back to you, Desley.
And I've got my fingers crossed for Tom...
