Her's the place to chat and ask as many questions as you like ;D ;D
-
Is the postage covered by the person donating the items?
-
P&P is covered when you have to send out a sponsors donation..............thats it I am afraid :shify: :shify:
Purrs has its hat on .......yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss ;D ;D ;D
-
Can't wait for it to start now :wow:
-
Yes excitement building up now as soon as we get the hat on ;D ;D
-
I can't believe it is auction time again. I was new to it last year but soon got the hang of it. Must start thinking about auction items.
Julie.
-
so pleased to have computer back to join in
-
Is it just me or is it creeping up to auction time? :evillaugh: :wow:
-
Not you it starts on Sunday :shify: :shify:
-
I'm afraid I'm panicking about getting them listed. My own comp seems to have decided not to connect to the internet. Mr S's comp doesn't have the images on it. If you hear screaming, you will know what it is... :(
-
OMG I hope it works again soon cos I dont have them!
I tried to email you today but think I messed up the addy cos was returned, Will try again later!
-
Can we donate items as well? I have some nice silver jewellery that hasn't seen the outside of the safe since it was bought (Yes, I am a secret magpie ), and it would be far better for it to go to help Ron.

-
Well, I'm back on my own comp now - let's hope it lasts! Didn't get an email from you Gill.
-
I have before and after pics of some of the items as the Clan have trashed their ones!!!

Oh Liz lol
Now didv anyone ask you to get a banner from them? If not I will tell Tan to take it off their website.................can you PM me a link please.
Tan is having probs at her end both with Purrs and emails grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr so I am the go between.
-
To all Purrs members
Please try and have items ready to auction we need as much as possible. Any questions ask here ;D ;D ;D
-
Gill Tan has all the banners for RC I sent them direct to her as she requested
-
OK Gill, will email you with details.
-
Hi,
Is there a way that we can set up the auction page as a draft now and set it live on the day?
-
Thanks Liz I will remind her!
Cherry 24,,,,,sorry is it Christina?
I would love to be able to do that butb sdly we cannot.................too complicated to explain why!!
Could you please email me a list of what items you have or are being sent direct and the staus of banners. If a banner hasnt been received the website addy so Tan can make one from that.
Its become a bit chaotic as Tan has not been able to access Purrs or her emails and I have saved all mine in a folder but dam outlook willl no longer save them so I can see what I need without opening every :censored: email.
-
Hi Gill,
Just sent you an email.
Cheers

Ooh lovely, will look out for those...I love silver. I have a few bits to auction this year too.
X
-
What date does it start? I need to get photographing my items
-
Think it starts tomorrow Gail ........
-
Definately auction starts tomorrow and think its from 1500 as usual. Wait for Tan to say its open :evillaugh:
So get ready to post items, start bidding and get your handbags or briefcases out ready
Dont put all items up on first day, spread them out over the two weeks, same with bids 1p 2p etc just fine as long as its higher than last bid ;D ;D
You must not chat on a bidding thread unless you are making a bid, no bumping is allowed!
All this for newbies cos the old hands know how it works and the panic in the last hour of last day
There will also be some threads stickied at the top which are donation threads...............like Buy a cat a Christmas dinner, Name a cat, and believe some cats will be selling themselves to help the needy cats :shify: :shify:
Soooooooooooooooooooooooo only one sleep to go and then action :wow: :wow: :wow:
-
2 hours and 9 minutes to go.....maybe :)
-
I can hardly contain my excitement! :wow:
-
I did some surfing and saw it was the 22nd OMG - so ran upstairs and did some quick photos. I'm off tomorrow whoop whoop so will get my items listed . There was me thinking I had started making my items early, how wrong I was. Can never be too early, the auction is here. How there is a bun fight for my fav thing I shall be putting on :scared:
-
Just under an hour and a half :wooooo: :wooooo: :wooooo: :wooooo:
-
I'm having a mare with my pics, does anybody remember what the maximum size has to be in kb or whatever the measurement is?
I have the same panic every year though and always manage it in the end ;)

Yup spot on :)
-
Its working yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-
Sorry, I was having a 'senior moment', I'd got myself in a bit of a panic and stopped using my grey cells :-[
Feel a lot better now that I have got started. I have stated that the items were 'kindly donated by...' but now wonder if that might not be a good idea?
-
If you use photoshop when resizing - use save to web and it reduces the size dramatically - just resized mine and done my write ups. Hopefully the photos will be big enough - I have them about 350x250 the files size is small.
-

No that is just what you need to do...................offering my one grey cell

Excellent 1st day start :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:
I have got lots more stuff to go on but will wait for a bit :shify:
Happy auctioning peeps
-
Not bad is it? :wow:
I was a bit worried as had been a bit quieter in the run up than previous years but the kitty brigade are out in force again! Xx
-
I have Mugs, cat bowls and some other stuff to but at least the scratching posts are now on = modelled by some of my own cats and note we have no pompoms attached the Clan kittens have been a bit unruly with the testing of theirs lol
-
Just a quick point about postage...
I posted something for ebay the other day, a small parcel (shoebox size) weighing just under 2kg... the difference between 1st and 2nd class used to be something like 40p, it's now £2.65 difference - £2.80 for 2nd class or £5.45 for 1st class
Just something to bear in mind when posting out the auction goodies, also you can ask for a 'certificate of posting' which is basically a computerised receipt that allows you to claim up to £20 compensation if it goes astray in the post.
-
Thanks hun
Yes two years ago the lovely RM brought in a split for parcels with a small parcel size and a medium parcel size. And a massive increase in medium parcel postage rate!! so it is cheaper to send small parcels!
and here is the guide for non buisness over the post office counter
The cert of posting is free - just need to ask for it.
-
Last year I sent all parcels 2nd class bar one, which was first class signed for. The 2nd class parcels took 1-2 days the other one took 3 days.
-
I think I will have to arrange a courier for the Igloopets item. I'm sure someone will tell me how to go about it when the time comes...
-
When I got my Igloo pet they sent them direct to the winners FOC maybe worth a try
-
If they have sent it to ya already - it prob best vis Hermes courier for that size.
-
Collect Plus can also be reasonable depending on the size.
Is there a name the kitten thread this year or is Ron not taking in any more at the moment.
I really want to name a kitty Jedward again :evillaugh:
-
Yes there will be a name thread going up at weekend ;D ;D
-
Yes, I have the 'igloo' here already ;)
-
I have noticed a lot of the newbies/kittens have been on the auction and bumped loads of the threads up a lot, so much so that us that are not so well off can't afford to carry on bidding anymore .
It's fine going up 10-50p , but going up £5 and £10 a time and in the first week has just knocked a few of us out altogether now .
I hope they have the money if they win.
This used to be fun , but now it's not so much .
-
Thats life bunglycat!
Maybe they are richer or cant get back for end of auction bidding so putting on top bid immediately.
After all this is about getting as much money as possible for Brighton.
Have to say I am also priced out on lovely things I would like :(
-
Well, what's the betting they disappear again after the auction.
I am bowing out of it now and purrs as its not he same any more
-
everyone's money is the same at the end of the day Gill as long as it ends up helping Ron that is all that matters
-
everyone's money is the same at the end of the day Gill as long as it ends up helping Ron that is all that matters
Think that Gill is bungly not me LOL
You are right Dawn
-
yes it was!
-
Hi Gill (bungly)
Sad to hear that hun as we have supported you and donated for your rescue babes too.
The aim of the auction is to raise as much as poss so the higher the bids the better to help the needy ones.
-
Bid on my items, they dont seem to be doing well this year. I'll be putting my last two items on over the weekend. I am liking one particular item in the auction so putting all my money on that one thing.
-
Seems that jewellry not doing so well cos have put on some very expensive items for Judecat and they really need some good bids.
Stay away from what I want LOL
-
Yes, I have been priced out of some things already :( The truth is that it would probably have happened anyway, it has just happened sooner this year! I know the object of the exercise is to get loadsa money for the rescue, not to nab me a bargain, so that is just the way it goes.
Perhaps this is a way of getting the kittens involved so that they become a part of Purrs and stick around? Several of the fora I have frequented for years have become much quieter of late, I think that is the result of Facebook and other social media. Life moves on - and sometimes it leaves me behind. C'est la vie :)
-
Definately all the socialmedia having a big effect.
By the way we are on two pages of auction now so please look at second page.
have asked Tan to bring it back to one
-
Not sure whether to put my final two items on now, was hopefully saving the best till last. But bit :scared: now .
-
Put a good starting bid on them
-
They are on :) - needed to do more cat related things, only have the one this year - *note to self, do more cat things*
-
Yes they have been seen ;D ;D
Yes more cat related stuff good
-
Looks like I will have my work cut out this evening adding all these new items to the spreadsheet! :wow: some lovely stuff and I am having a great time, it's nice seeing everyone pull together and we have so many items being donated ;D
-
Yes I think you will but so many lovely things
-
Its all about raising money for the kitties ;D
-
It is. I know bidding up by one penny and having a laugh is all great fun but it doesn't help the cats much! I don't mind being priced out of what I want, as long as every body pays up at the end ;)
Xx
-
1p bidding will be gone by sunday and thats when the money goes up ;D
-
Yup, a kitten who hasn't posted before has upped my bids massively on a couple of items too, but it's all going to a good cause so the more money the better.
I need to calm down & stop bidding on so much, I'm losing track! ;D
A couple of my items haven't done as well as I'd thought, hoping they might get more interest soon
-
I tend not to pay much attention until the second week, I'm sure I am not the only one.
The silver jewellery is lovely - just a pity that I am allergic to it :(
-
What I was trying to say , was its only the first week and bidding is part of the enjoyment,we know it goes mad at the end, but this has taken the enjoyment out of bidding and participating too now.
-
I do understand what you are saying bunglycat. Participating in the silly bidding is great fun, even if the item is - realistically - out of my range. I also feel disappointed if I see someone has made a big bid early on.
However I have to accept that, while it is all great fun, the object of the exercise is to raise money. I can hardly complain if people push the price up beyond my pocket early on, that's what can happen with auctions. I also try to remember that the kittens might not understand the 'rules' especially for a generation who have grown up with Ebay and the like.
-
There are still loads of great items to have fun bidding on and another 9 days to go ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
The few pennies going up is fine, in the last few days it will £s. I have my eye on something, and have a top price in mind. In the final hour IT WILL BE MINE waaa haaa haa haa
-
 and I still got some stuff to go on tomorra :)
The higher the bid the more gorgeous babes can be helped and that's our ultimate goal :)
It's amazing the amount of fantastic items we have this year
Well done all of you wonderful peeps
Xxxxxxxx
-
I have a few duplicates to go up over the weekend ;D
-
Looks like it will be another bumper year for kittie :wow: :wow:
-
Hello
I am new member to the Purrs forum, but I have been a guest on many occasions and have bought from the Purrs shop.
It's the first time I have decided to bid.
When I bid, I don't take a lot of notice of previous bids, not because I have a lot of money ( I don't ) but what money I do have I spend on my Cats, but because I allow for their p & p costs and put a realistic price I can afford.
I don't expect to win any of the items I have bid on, but my Cats will be very happy if I do.
And the main point of the auction is to make money and not to get a bargain so if I have spoilt it for any purrs members, that wasn't my intention, I just want to help and get some new items for my Cats.
And if I win anything, I will be happy to pay for them.
-
Hi Mishka, welcome to the forum, glad you are taking part in the auction ;D it's great fun, and a great way to help the kitties! Which, as you say is the name of the game.
I hope you stick around after the auction, I have found this site to be so much help with my furry family. What princess kitty has their eye on the pink scratch post? :sneaky:
See you on the auction pages, and good luck, the bidding can get fierce :evillaugh:
-
Hi hun and a very warm :welcome: to purrs forum ;D
Please please never be sorry for joining in and bidding. Please bid all you like on anything you like. The whole point of our auctions are to help the needy cats, the ones who haven't got a family, the ones that have been through bad times and are looking for forever love. The more bids there are , the more we can help them so bid bid bid all you like. ;D
This is for every member new or old , thanks so much for joining in for the needy babes.
I am so sorry you feel you had to write this.
-
:welcome: from me too ;D
PLeased you have joined and would be great if you visit after the auction too ;D ;D
Most important is the money we get for the needy cats and beg borrow or steal we want to make as much as possible ;D ;D
-
:welcome: Mishka
Join in and have fun and do what you want
I'm bidding on all sorts and don't want half of them, but it makes money for the kitties at Christmas every year and we all know that is what this is all about.
I still have to take my photos and put some items on for everyone to bid on. I kept putting it off and now I'm in panic mode  I used to be so organised.
Mary
-
Thank you for all the positive comments
I hope you raise lots of money to help all the Cats and Kittens that don't yet have loving homes.
-
When does auction end please ?x
-
Hi and welcome Mishka :welcome: Please ignore my curmudgeonly behaviour up thread :-[
Trudes, I think it ends at 20.00 next Sunday ;D
-
Hi and welcome Mishka :welcome: Please ignore my curmudgeonly behaviour up thread :-[
Trudes, I think it ends at 20.00 next Sunday ;D
It does, precisely to the second using the Purrs clock :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
1 sec late and your bid will not count. :scared:
Geeez I hope purrs loads up quicker!
-
I'm rather worried that I might not be able to be here at that time :scared: We are scattering MIL's ashes that day, BIL and his wife will be staying with us and I don't think I will be 'allowed' to disappear to watch the auction clock! :'(
-
Not meaning any disrespect but surely they wouldnt miss you for 30 mins at end
-
can't be helped slugsta - I used to always miss the end because I didn't have access at home, used to put in my best bids as late as possible and the following morning see what had happened!
-
It does, precisely to the second using the Purrs clock :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
1 sec late and your bid will not count. :scared:
I might be really dumb....but where is the purrs clock?
-
up near where it says your name, near the cat
-
The Purrs clock is on top Left under where it says Hello xxxx and how many messages. You have to refresh the page to get the right time :shify: :shify: because it doesnt change automatically :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
Thanks Gill.
that explains why I cant see it. That box vanished from the page for me last week and hasn't come back.
It doesn't work on my work or home computers :Arrrrh:
Can everyone else see it?
-
Some where up there , is a button on right I think which will minimize the top section so must be one to bring it all back :scared: :scared:
-
You utter star Gill :wow:
fixed it.
I feel like a right eejit now
-
:evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
The Purrs clock is on top Left under where it says Hello xxxx and how many messages......
Not on mine it isn't. :see: I have the button at the top right that will either expand or minimise the member info etc but in neither format do I see the Purrs clock. In fact, I don't think I've EVER seen the Purrs clock and I've been on Purrs since it started. It's the same on my lappy and my ipad. Oh well. what you've never had you never miss or so they say. But now that I know it should be there........... :-:
-
I finally found the 'clock' The date and time are in small writing underneath 'hello Slugsta', I was looking for a round clock
Hubby says that I will be allowed to disappear - I spect it gives them more time to talk about me :P
-
I finally found the 'clock' The date and time are in small writing underneath 'hello Slugsta', I was looking for a round clock
Me too :-[ Thanks for that - looks like I have the Purrs clock after all.
Good news that you won't miss the end of the auction. I hope you win what you want, unless I'm bidding on it of course :evillaugh:
It's obviously an age thing wanting a round clock.
-

Hells bells shouldnt have told anyone cos would have had the end of auction to myself :-[
-
I can see the sponsor banners as well now ;D
Gill :naughty:
-
Haha, I was looking for a countdown clock and tested it on loads of different browsers cause I couldn't see it :shy:
-
I can see the sponsor banners as well now ;D
Gill :naughty:
Just see what you have been missing :naughty:
-
Gill I think the auction is open thread is locked, tried to reply on their, anyway will be doing extras once I know the damage for everything I win!! so can the Christmas dinners etc stay open a little longer?
-
Yes saw it was closed but dont know if it was deliberate as this is the chatting thread......will look.
Yes they will stay open a bit longer as usual for donations from those who dont get what bthey hoped ;D ;D
-
Can't see the clock, they'll be saying they can't see the Purrs Christmas cat next :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Mary
-
Just wanted to say, I'm not going to bid on it cause I already have one and couldn't comment on the auction thread for it as it is no chat. But my cats love their stinky shark. They've had it ages and it's still one of their favourites. Freya and Gobi recommend.
-
Well don't tell Izzy but I have ordered her one just in case I don't win the auction lot, they look fab, have great reviews and retail at £4.50 each plus £3 p&p so the auction ones are a real bargain so far.
-
Then if you have one stop bidding so mine can have it
-
Might do...might not!!!
-
Doesn't anyone on purrs sleep at night lol
-
Sometimes? :naughty: :evillaugh:
-
Sorry my stuff is late but I have missing Minstrel Bengal so have been out a lot searching

Sending 'go home Minstrel Bengal' vibes and hoping she comes home soon
-
Is your lad home Liz - home he is snuggled up with you
-
No sign of my baby girl yet but have something in the shrubbery but as its raining and blowing a gale will let them move closer to the house
-
Sending homing vibes to your baby xx
-
Good luck with the search for Minstrel Liz
-
I am so sorry Minstrel has gone AWOL, I do hope she is home by now - or, if not, that she returns very, very soon
-
Under 24 hours left to go, so gloves will be off tomorrow and let the battle begin :innocent: :innocent:

-
You are right about the drama Andrew.
I have been doing this auction going back to Cat Chat days and have never known so little bidding in last two hours...............why do I think peeps are being cagey and ut will explode at end!
Just hope it doesnt cause site to crash or make it so slow that bids miss the cut off!
-
Mmmmm. Hope it doesn't crash
-
me too cos like gail i am on a mission!
-
Me three.
My sis gave me her old pc, I have my lappy on, my phone, a tablet and the pc. It's like mission control here ;D ;D ;D
-

just have lappy on and thats like mission control lol
I should do a snip of it but scared I might make a mess of something :scared: :scared:
Not reading emails or anything!
-
Hells bells, I have enough trouble trying to manage one screen without complicating things further.
-
 i have too many missions, too many items!
-
Just had to crawl upstairs quick
-
The Auction is CLOSED :wow: :wow:
Stop bidding folks and wAIT AND SEE WHAT YOU HAVE WON oooops!
-
Have we had a count on how much was raised - been searching but can't find anything
-
It's over in Car Chat here http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,46422.0.html ;)
