if it's any help, Max has had i/d 1 can a day for about 2 months now and his weight is stable at 4.8kgs. The key seems to be is their weight stable or does it keep dropping.
Max sometimes refuses his i/d until Swamp tries to nick it, then he wants it all right. Kitty psychology! Swampy's on it quite a bit right now as is regurgitating again.....i'd seems quite a good food for tums.

i have to agree with Lottie - I have thought some of mine have needed to put weight on, yet the vet has disagreed, its frustrating, but if you trust your vet, go with their advice. Most pets are overweight, so while she might look thin to you, she could actually be a perfect shape, just not what we are used to seeing.

If the vet thinks her weight is fine then she doesn't need to put any on.

You are best off discussing food that may help her gain weight with your vets, as he has prescribed prescription food, and if we suggest things, it may wipe that out.

i was looking on the bk of the tin and it says a food which is low in fat

even though its low in fat will it still make her gain weight ?
as i do ideally want to build her up slightly as she looks thin to me

if not any ideas of what i can give her that will make her put on a bit of weight ?

the pouches were only 50pence each when i bought them on thursday

bridie doesnt seem overly keen on the tins but the other cats are all trying to knick it off her

its a joke the cat whos meant to have it aint keen and the ones who cant have it want it  >:( >:( >:(

My Teddie has the tins. They are 93p each from the vets here. it's much cheaper to feed the dry of course, but Teddie can't tolerate the dry, only the wet! ANd my other two try to nick hers too lol, must be something going for them!

both of mine love the i/d tins (not pouches). I think it works out at about £1 per tin but if kitty no like, Hills will take back what you don't want for refund.
My Max eats it most of the time and he's (touch all wood) stopped his constant vomiting; Swampy has it when he nicks it lol or when he's vomited and needs a pick me up.
It looks disgusting but clearly they don't think so!!!!
hope it sorts your probs.

they never had pouches in stock , i think the tins are a different flavour from the pouches
shes had chicken for breakfast ,in about an hour ill open the tin and give her some of it , i dont know whether or not it willl be chaeper for me to buy the wet or the dry food in the long run

Lisa you should be able to get it from another vets! My Teddie is on the hills id wet (but the tins rather than the pouches) and I managed to get some from another vet when mine only had a couple of tins left in stock!

Lisa you need to to stabilise her on one diet at a time, if shes got a food intolerence then thats the only way you will eliminate the problem ingredient.
Also she will end up with diarrhoea!

I happened to look this up after I posted, as I had been asked to see if the RC sensitivity was any cheaper -think it worked out about 42p a pouch, but the p & p was a killer - it is 1.4kg, so 4.95!!

do i fax them the precscription ???? or how do i show it to them ?

If you ever order a POM you have to send the prescription by post. I sent them one on Thursday and on Tuesday I received the goods. Mine was a repeat prescription so they keep it for another 2 orders.

Actually Lottie, that comment isn't strictly true, VetUK do sell prescription only items, so not everything on the site can be ordered normally.

Yep ok I didn't make it very clear I was meaning the non POM.

Lisa, I would see how well she takes to i/d first, as you normally have to buy large amounts for prescription foods, I dont know how the pouches work, if you can just buy one box, but with tins, you have to buy 24 of them in one go, which isn't good if htey dont like them.
