Tenants actually have very little legal backing with regards to things like being given short amounts of time to find alternative accommodation. I have a friend who rents with her partner and has flat coated retrievers. I bumped into her a little while ago and she seemed quite unhappy; transpired her landlord had decided he wanted the house back and they had a month to find a place that would accept four dogs....not an easy task. Thankfully the letting agents they went through knew they were good tenants and managed to get someone to agree to it on another property. (With a decent sized garden!)

Sadly this type of thing happens almost daily. It does make me annoyed as if the owners had bothers to get the females spayed the problem would be solved much easier. It is also hard to believe sometimes that these owners have no idea they will move some time in the future and there may be a problem.

Another thing that get me is when they are moving 'yesterday' and have the cats in the car with nowhere to go. If I say I wish you had contacted me before now they say weill I was looking myself to try to find them a home. If only they had contacted us in the first place at least then the cats would be working their way up the list and we know we have an urgent case on our hands.  Far better to place the little ones on waiting lists and then find a home than wait to see.

Great stuff. :) Thanks for the update, Janey; I was starting to wonder if I could convince my partner to let me take in a mothering cat!

A lady called Sarah is apparently taking them all in so not so urgent now
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

I think what they're saying is someone would have to take an adult female and the kittens. Then there's one adult who could go alone - I'm not 100% sure; either way it looked pretty urgent.

don't quite understand this, to be honest

why would it make a difference if the kittens were old enough to be rehomed ? there would still be the two adult cats, and 8 kittens suggests they are both mums

why has someone allowed two queens to have kittens at the same time? or am I being too suspicious?

"I live in South Birmingham. I have 2 cats and 8 three week old kittens that need rehousing asap due to the fact that I am moving into rented accommodation and the landlord will not accept pets, not even for a few weeks, until the kittens are old enough to leave mom !!
Please can anyone help me in this desperae situation. I have contacted all the cat rescue centres in my area, but they all have waiting lists and cannot help at the moment.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you"

Thought I should post this on here due to the urgency, rather than the "cats needing homes" board.
