Just a quick update, I thought you'd want one. We've been to the vet and he said a test would mean a needle into her bladder under sedation, so the best thing to do first is treat potential cystitus. She is apparently sensitive around the bladder, which may be a symptom of the problem.

So - we have got her on six days of antibiotics and if the problem is still happening by the end of that course, we will go with the needle option. We will obviously keep her while this is ongoing and the diagnosing is taking place. We want nothing more than for this to be something we can fix, so she can stay.

I got a very quick reply to the email I sent!

Mags is going to the vets tomorrow and the fee is not a problem, I think the reason she wasn't taken before was because they were so sure it was behavioural.

I must admit I don't know a great deal about cystitis in cats but I found a link to send for more information. It does mention toileting outside the tray as a symptom. I just hope that it is something that is easily treated as at least then she will be getting the care to rectify the problem and hopefully things will work out for the better, I have my fingers crossed!

The email says 'If we can stop this behaviour, we'd be so happy to keep her.'

I have sent an email to the lady who has adopted her to ask if she would mind taking her to the vets to rule out a health issue - I also hinted about possibly being able to get the costs covered to see if she is OK with that.

I said she is the best person to take her as she is the one who can give the vet information on when its happening, how often, her behaviour at the time etc.

At least if she agrees to this it helps us find out if it is a health issue before I can then try and think of a solution based on whether its a health or behavioural issue.

Thanks for the support of all on here its just disheartening when something like this happens. Sorry if I have been having a bit of a moan I am just rather clueless for next steps so I think the vet visit is the best thing to do if possible.

Ahhh poor mags ... she must be stressed about something. Cheese you mustn't blame yourself in anyway for this behavioral problem ... as we all know cats are very complex little creatures and she mustn't be feeling happy in her new home for some reason.

Have the new owners had her to the vet to check for cystitis? (sorry if this has been mentioned already .. I've only scan read the thread).

Can I suggest if the people who currently have her are reluctant to pay for a vet check, we all try and put a little in for the check up to rule out a health issue? It's just an idea, noone's obligated.

Teresa the only person dishing out blame that I can see is you. Most of us don't know the situation behind this and were offering Dawn support and a sounding board with the current situation which she is clearly upset about.

up until your cloak and daggers post we were completely oblivious to whatever else was going on in the background (me included). I don't see the point in posting in this way. It doesn't serve to help anyone and only causes upset as is already clearly visible by Dawns post.

Rather than cloak and dagger posts please take it offline rather than upsetting others if your not going to explain your posts.

I have no idea about the ins and outs of the situation, but have to agree that the original rescue should (in my opinion) take Magnolia in if there's a problem in her new home.

Hopefully Magsy Moo will get a vet visit soon to rule out medical issues.

Got to disagree with this point Sarah, it should be the rescue that Dawn was fostering for that should be providing support. I merely helped Dawn in finding a home for Magnolia, I will let people draw their own conclusions as to why I was asked to became involved in the first place; I have given support in the past and will continue to support Dawn if I am able.

Magnolia needs help, Dawn needs support using things like this to apportion blame on innocent parties is not going to solve the problem.Time people started putting the cat first rather than friends and petty arguments.

I've only very quickly skimmed over this topic as not got much time but to me..... problem could either be behavioural or medical / physical. Certainly a vet visit to rule out any conditions would be a positive step and hopefully may shed some light on the situation.

Regardless of that though Dawn.... if you were only the original fosterer then surely it should be the rescue who found the home that should be dealing with this not you?

We had a simliar case with Cassie who in the end came back to live with us and went to my mums place. she was good as gold whilst here, moved her on and she had lots of toileting probs. Brought her back... and she's been fine again! but at not time did the fosterer deal with any of the issues with the new owners, we did.

I'm sure whichever way things will work out for the best certainly you are talking with the right people to help resolve the issue. well done for still caring

I am sure I mentioned this elsewhere on purrs, the only reason I did not mention it on this thread is because I did not think the situation was relevant. The issue in the new home is that the new owner (who does seem to have tried lots of things!) is having issues with Mags going to the loo in appropriately, to the point where she says she does not think she is toilet trained - she was not like that here as she went in the tray every time once we sorted the below issue.

Magnolia only toileted outside the tray here when Doc was keeping her away from the tray (he used to torment her and actually sit by it waiting for her, or wait for her to come out of the room she used to mainly go into during the day) Once we put another tray out where Mags used to go to get away from him (in the room upstairs) this stopped. It was not a recurring issue or something that took place more than a couple of times and was easily remedied once we realised the problem and caught Doc out so it does not link with what is happening at the moment in the new home as there are no other cats present. I didn't mention it because that was caused by Doc (he is a bully of a cat sometimes, and was to Magnolia, this is the main reason I would rather she did not come back here as he made her stressed I feel)

Edited to say: the lady who adopted her has said she believes it is behavioural as it was always in the same place every time and when she was not allowed in that room she would not do it. I really cannot think (as she is indoor and so can't be stressed by other cats) why this is going on.

It was me that found the home for Magnolia after she appeared on my Catchat pages ,there is a reason why she was put on my site which I feel would be wrong to disclose fully, I know Cheesecat and Phil gave her a wonderful home which was full of love during her time with them and that they treated her as their own: However Magnolia DID have inappropriate soiling behaviour while she was with them which I was led to believe was stress related due to the fact that she needed to be an only cat. I really feel that it is in Magnolias interest that she is checked thoroughly by a vet to rule out cystitis or indeed other health problems , she also needs to go into a Rescue with the facilities to Pen her away from other cats; sorry but if this problem is not resolved properly this little one is going to suffer.

I am really upset to read this thread and upset to see that many are blaming Magnolias new owners; poor Magnolia is in danger of being let down badly all round, I think its time a little truth is injected into this thread and the just maybe Magnolia will get the help she needs.

Apparently no news = bad news

I've received an email to say that Magsy will have to be rehomed as she has offended in another area of the house - the email says something along the line of (not got it open in front of me) "We simply did not sign up for a non house trained cat" !!

I sent an email back to say that I have been in touch with DD about the situation and will let her know as soon as I do, I also passed her on Dawn's email and the rescue number in case she wants to get in touch with her about it at the weekend as I am away unfortunately so wont be able to check online.

I also said that I cannot agree that she is a non house trained cat! I do not know what to suggest advice wise but I suppose it doesn't matter now anyway
