True, but without his support it's still a bit dubious to rehome with a 100 year old man, isn't it? I think it's sad, the old chap must be missing his feline company terribly.

The Rescue dealing with this have not spoken to the old gentleman himself yet. They will do a home visit and take it from there. The old gentleman lost his cat to old age 6 months ago. The old gentleman may have different views than his son.

Martha tell me this is a bit more complicated than first appears. Apparantly his son is the problem. They want a puddy aged 2-3 and are expecting the rescue to take pud back when the gentleman expires.

Pudding is lovely but once a pud has had one owner expire on them, I really think they deserve a place where the odds are it won't happen again.

HAWS homed a 17 year old cat to a 97 year old gentleman last year. Age should not stop you from having a cat if you have back up to help you. My Gran would be devastated if she did not have pets. She is 89 and they keep her going. She has to get up and make sure they are fed and well(She has help, but they do not know anything - according to my Gran...)

As a CP branch we have rehomed a 14yr old to an 80 yr old lady and it made her day, as the RSPCA refused i think.. Of course there were provisions for the cat if the lady couldnt cope any more, the Son who lived a few doors away was taking over.. I dont remember the cats name but Sally did the homecheck and the cat was taken tot he vet to be PTS as the owner could no longer cope, she was an oldie though and i havent heard anything for a while but i know the vets have as i briefly saw her on the way to the vets a few weeks back and the receptiion told me she was coming in for yearly vac (rather then anything else more serious of course)... So happy ending there i reckon..

Having met Martha (HAWS) i am sure they will find a suitable puss cat if it moves forward

Thanks. HAWS would be happy to let the family adopt a cat(after a home check) if the family will look after the cat for its whole life span. We only have cats that are 10-13 years old at present. We may get in older cats at any time.

Here's the website details of the rescue involved. The lady is called Kim. She says she's willing to HC, etc., but just doesn't have a puss she feels comfortable placing with a person this senior is years. I know she works part time so may be a while responding to messages.

Hi Martha Pinkbear is SE based actually, i think the rescue in New Forest Hampshire.. so we wouldnt be able to homecheck.. But it may be that there is already a hc in place actually.. I am sure Julie (PB) will let you know... if anything you may be closer.. BTW have you posted any of those puss cats you have in your care on the rescue page... as the last time i looked you seem to be bursting... and still have kittens.. Good luck

Check HAWS mouse2 is the lady that posts on Purrs, real name Martha.. Last time i looked they had several senior oldies...We also have Myrtle coming back in and she is probably 10plus but deaf... (or we think so anyhows) Sheppey have an oldie as well but not sure how old

Sad to report that Daisy went downhill over the weekend and was taken tothe vets this morning.. They have kept her in but Caroline tells me that things are not good... due to the sudden nature of her decline they are wondering if its something much more serious that would not perhaps of been picked up without a great deal of testing... Fingers crossed..for her as she does have a potential home.. but i have concerns that it may not happen

I've just got details through from a rescue based in the New Forest area who are searching for a suitable puss for a gentleman aged 100!

Anyway, they thought there was a chance of a really senior puss in need of a retirement home. I should add this gentleman does have help and support from family.

I think I saw a 17 year old in need recently but cannot remember where...
