Well we are all busy with the usual stuff here, lots of cats and kittens! Got a couple of VAT people visiting me on tuesday and hoping to launch a big fundraising project soon.

Not much to say yet, but a couple of piccies to wet your appetites!

OK OK!!

firstly a warning : At the moment we do not know if the house is left intact as there are legacies that need to be met totalling about £60k. Poor old Di was in a nursing home for a year before she died so I doubt there is much money floating around. However, ignoring that (minor point ) we need to start planning what to do as the house is beginning to cost us. We have already stumped up £300 for 6 months insuance for the empty property and currently a man is being retained to do the garden and that is costing the estate (and therefore indirectly us) £150 per month (thats in the will!)

We had intended to keep it quiet a bit longer until we knew the situation but the deadline for application to the big give is today, so then we had to tell everyone in the group and now well we may as well come clean. At least if you lot know, I have somewhere to vent my frustrations and share ideas as they come along!

What ya' all thunk?
I've more or less used or the text I can in the application but if anyone thinks I can put things in a better way then shout.

We now have to wait until the Big give proposal is accepted....    I HATE WAITING  :'(  :waiting:

Wow, this is utterly amazing! I hope you manage to get what you need, this really is the opportunity of a lifetime.  :wow:

Have you thought about hiring a professional fundraiser? Yes they charge a comfortable fee but you do get a pretty much guaranteed return, and they have all the contacts you need to tap to get this sort of revenue in.

My neighbour is a professional fundraiser (and Mum to Spike and Blossom, two beautiful and thoroughly spoilt moggies), she works for some of the really big charities as a freelance. This is her website to give you an idea of the sort of work people like her do. http://www.lesleyhynesfundraising.co.uk/clients.html

It might be worth having a chat with someone like her to see if you could benefit?

So it looks like you will know if you have been chosen for the The Big Give Christmas challenge by 20 July Angie?

Oh blimey. I have everything crossed for Covcats  :wow: :wow: :wow:

Fabulous application by the way

I've just realised this is probably in the wrong section! Nevermind, if we do get selected for the big give, I'll start another thread in the fundraising.

Yep, I don't know how long they take to decide if you can be in the project but like anything else with this IT IS ALL TOO SLOW!
I've had a stress headache all weekend. Ideas just keep churning round and round. I write them down hoping to forget and they don't go away.
Still, can't complain, it is a nice headache to have. Just been on to the planning department again, trying to persuade them that we do not need planning permission as the house even though "a rescue" will still be a residence and as such no permission is needed to build pens.

Today has been a good day!

VAT people came this morning and announced themselves happy!  :wooooo:

and a brief email from the solicitor who tells me there should be enough money in the estate to pay off the other legacies  :yayyy:

I have created a facebook ad and am testing it out with a 7 day run with a limit of £10 per day. Please if you see the ad DON'T CLICK ON IT as it will cost us 60p and prevent it going to smeone else, it only goes to the biggive site at http://new.thebiggive.org.uk/projects/view/17399  so you can do that for free here!  :briggin:

Still waiting to hear about the big give xmas challenge but I have told OH to start saving the change from his beer money for December  (that'll be worth a few pence then)

So, does this mean you can start work on the house/cages?

I'm just astounded/grateful at the generosity of your benefactor, and so pleased the VAT peeps are happy, not that I understand what that means    but you're happy so I'm happy for you.  ;D

I'll have a shuftie at your fundraising site now and see if I can unravel it, must be having a "blonde" moment (used to be blonde years ago, believe me, I suited it  :shy: )

I doubt anything will happen for the next month at least. The house is still being emptied, but I'll put regular updates on the FB group so peeps can go there and chat and just put brief updates on the FR thread.
