Hi all, im so glad I found this site :wow:, I just couldnt wait to post and tell you about my angel and read all the other posts too. I am a Vet Nurse from Manchester who loves all things feline. I have just the one cat who gets all my free time. Im not sure how old she is as I adopted her as a rescue cat but I think she is well into her teens (human years!). She is diabetic and is arthritic and has to wear a buster collar (lampshade) as she has "licking issues" and skin fragility syndrome (I think this name was made up by a doc at Glasgow University just for Sally!) But to me she is purrfect (sorry, couldnt resist).
Will try to post more piccies if I can manage it without crashing the comp - something I do on a regular basis. :-:
Hope everyone is well (and their cats too) and cant wait to get posting.
Carrie x ;) ;)

hi and welcome - I'd like to be a vn myself - just worried I'd be too much of an old lady!
poor Sally, how does she cope with the collar on all the time
anyway, you will love the forum - it is great!
-
Your never too old!!! :innocent: I trained later in life and I wouldnt change it for the world.
She has had the collar on for about 3 years now - we try to take it off of her but she goes completely insane and starts to tear chunks out of herself, then we put it back on and she calms down. We managed to keep it off for about 2 months once but then woke up one morning to find her almost bald. Poor little love. :Luv2:
Thanks for the message back

I saw a funny little romper suit in a cat magazine recently - but you're the nurse you probably know all about them! you'll love it hear, it is very lively and addictive!

Hiya and :welcome: to Purrs, great to have you on board ;D
-
:welcome: Carrie, look forward to photos of your Angel bless her!
-
:welcome: To Purrs, CazW: glad you found us and decided to join in ;D
-
Thanks everyone :thanks:- if I could just get this wretched comp to work - I hate technology!! The said angel is currently sleeping by the side of me in her new bed which she loves! :Luv: Although she is still in a huff with me after having to put her in the vets where I work for the weekend as she needs her insulin and I was away for the w.end - the air was blue when I took her in :censored: :censored:
Those romper suits are fab, although I think Sally is a little fat for them - thats shocking coming from a v.n. I know :innocent:
-
Just a quick question - how do I get the piccies on? Ive noticed some at the bottom of the post which looks like a good idea. :thanks:

Hi Carrie and Sally. :welcome: to Purrs.
There is a thread in this section on how to post pics.
Sorry I can't help with a banner. Someone else did mine but can't remember which of the lovely peeps it was.
-
Hi Carrie and Sally,
You're gonna love it here ... I guarantee.
Can't wait to see a pic of Sally .... the following link will help with how to do it :) http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,13872.0.html

 Here goes - hopefully this will work, if not im officially a technie's nightmare!! :P
-
she is lovely! My Oscar is quite similar however I've been a member since the beginning and still can't do photos!!
-
Sorry :scared:, they are huge but ive managed it. We use a mac so some of the systems are not compatible so I have to go round the houses a few times but have done it. They are obviously pre and post lampshade and on one of them she is actually wearing a tee-shirt to try and stop her from cannibalising herself!! My angel :Luv2: , now im going to have a peek at all the other little angels. Thanks :thanks:
-
Thanks Dawn - Oscar is a handsome chappie - I can just make him out on the piccie - is he a tabby?
-
yes, dark tabby big boy, but a sensitive soul who is allergic to jabs! I also have Star a dlh who has just had four teeth out today, a naughty torti Amber and Tilly who is the bengal in the pic with Oscar

Hi Carrie & :welcome: to Purrs ;D
Sally is absolutely gorgeous :Luv2:
Glad you've found us, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. I do feel it my public duty to warn you though that it can be a teensy bit addictive  You have been warned :evillaugh:
Have you heard of bitenot collars? They're only available in the US now but VetUK do a similar one, not sure if it would be of any help for Sally's condition?
Here's the VetUK ones...

Thanks Helen for the reply. I use bite-not collars with the patients at work and they seem to be going down a treat as they are less intrusive so I thought I would try it on Sal but she just eats her tail instead of her back - I think she has issues! Love your furrybabes, what are their names? Cx
Oh, am definately finding it addictive already!! :Luv: :Luv:
-
Dawn - how is star doing? :scared: I bet they all keep you on your toes though :Luv2:. Cx
-
That's a shame, thought it was worth mentioning just in case :) My two boys are Lukey (on the left) and Riley (on the right) - they're two and a bit and are my little angels :Luv2: The one in the middle is Tiggy my childhood cat who I lost just over 2 years ago now :(
-
Sorry to hear about Tiggy, they mean so much to us and i think its hard because some people dont really understand, which is why im glad i found this site  . The two boys are heartbreakers!! Do they get on well with each other? :Luv2: :Luv2: Cx
-
:thanks: I miss her loads but am at the happy memories stage rather than the tears stage :) Lu & Riley are brothers and are head over heels in love with each other :Luv2: I'm prone to posting the odd picture of them so you'll see lots of them around :evillaugh:

Thanx helen, cant wait :Luv2: :Luv2:
