i rang the vets and they said to give her abit of metacam and see how she goes. she's appeared alot better this morning and has improved again tonight. i have noticed her stitches are different to most of the other ones so perhaps they way it has been sown hurts more. we are keeping a close eye on her but i think she'll be ok. thanks everyone x

Callie wasn't at all happy when she came home. It took about two days for her to settle and start eating normally and she did appear quite skitty too.
During this time we kept her in the large dog crate with bed / water/ food & tray but did not let Monty near her as she was lashing at him. We let her sleep.
Your kitty sounds disorientated by the anesthetic and maybe somthing paining her.
I would check with the vet as it is possible to get an internal bleed or something been nicked inside or an infection. Is she weeing yet?
Hope she settles soon. x

some cats react badly to pain, maybe some just have a low pain threshold. I have had one act a little like her but not as bad and hope she has either calmed down this morning and/or the vet has sorted her out.

Hope it's nothing untoward and she's just not a 'good patient' - I defo agree with giving the vet a quick ring to see what they say, just to be on the safe side - let us know how she gets on

worried about candie after spey
« Reply #1 on: March 10, 2011, 21:40:28 PM »
i have had over 20 cats neutered and so far we have never had much of an issue. most of them have acted as if nothing has happened, others have acted a bit fragile at first but have settled down after a while. i have never had anything except for positive comments about their recovery until today. candie was speyed and the vet prescribed some metacam saying candie appeared abit unfortable. candie came back home to us so i could administer the metacam should she need it as my parents have never down it before and were wary. i put candie in a room without other cats that smelt of her, and also sprayed feliway on some items. however candie is not behaving like the other girls have. she is wide eyed, costantly licking her wound and meowing. she has also become very frightened of me, running away from me, hissing and now trying to scratch me. she is lying on the floor, pulling herself along it. infact i am so worried about her i have put her back in her carrier and turned the lights off to see if that helps. should i be concerned or is she just not dealing as well with the operation?
