Mark, hun, I feel for you and Dennis both.

Margaret and I discussed not so long ago how quickly the end is when treatments stop working they do crash from CRF. Margaret had 6 hours notice between spotting her puss was a bit off colour til it all being over. It seems to be with the kidneys the toxins build up inside them so fast, minute by minute not just hour by hour, that the whole thing is over before you've had a chance to think.  :( There was nothing else to be done and Willow is at peace now and not feeling the pain and sickness anymore.

Please dismiss any thoughts of things going wrong, bad judgments or mistakes because that way madness lays.  ;)

She wouldn't have suffered Mark   By the sounds of it she was quite 'out of it' anyway, so she wouldn't have felt anything

Its so hard when they deteriorate so suddenly, but you have think of the positives, you managed her condition wonderfully, and without such amazing care, she would have given up long ago.  She loved you both  :Luv: and she only started to give up when her body was failing her too badly for it to cope, and you did the kindest thing you possibly could in relieving her any further suffering

I know it's natural but we are both having doubts. OH just asked me if I am 100% sue that she was dead. I am but I even went back inside to discuss arrangements while Dennis waited out the back - I couldn't help myself but went in the give her another kiss and already her little body felt firm. I do hope it is a peaceful passing as she seemed to judder and the vet said "It's OK little girl" or something similar. I was concerned as he put the liquid in the pipe but it didn't seem to be going in very fast so he then attached the bag of fluids to push it along but it meant a slight delay. I really do hope she didn't suffer because of it. I know he is very professional but the best is never enough  :(

Mark please don't torment yourself.  Willow had CRF and the outcome was always inevitable, its not down to any one thing that you did or did not do.  She was very lucky to have such a caring and knowledgable slave who saw to it that she had the best quality of ife possible.  Some cats with CRF become symptomatic very quickly, others like Willow (and Korky) manage to adapt to their condition as it progresses and live prefectly normal lives for many years so its a shock when their bodies run out of options and they suddenly deteriorate. It was her time. Its heartbreaking but she's at peace now.  So should you be.  You did your best and nobody can do more than that

Thanks everyone. I keep trying to understand why she went down so quickly. I am beginning to wonder if the vaccination booster pushed her over the edge  :( - OH doesn't think it could be but I googled and there are a few references to it, including Tanya's CRF site which says CRF cats shouldn't be vaccinated. We are going to cat proof in the spring and I will have to think long and hard about vaccs - especially for Clapton.

Hi Mark... now we have had a chat on the phone.... and i havejust seen your post..
There is a lovely rose called "Remember Me" that is pink, yellow in colour and i have always found comfort in planting such a plant, when i have lost a puss cat.. Also i always think a "Pussy Willow" trees are very symbolic of losing a cat.

Anyhow..whatever you decide but you tried your best.. no cat could ask for more!
Cannot save the world, but if everyone does something we can have a jolly good job trying too....
