Apologies if the amswers to these questions are already in the rules and I'm just too dense to see them!
1. Can we enter the same photo in different classes if it is appropriate for those classes?
2. Can we use Photoshop or similar on our pics? In particular I'm thinking of red (or in the case of cats blue/green) eye, and "vitual vacuuming, when that otherwise perfect photo displays bits of cat litter trailed through the house!

Ok Gill, a fewwww questions.........

1.  What is a catless cat show

2.  No Canvassing in Chat - are you trying to get my bengals banned  :evillaugh:

3.  When does 'no canvassing' rule start from?

4.  You say no pics?  Does this rule apply to the official canvassing thread only?  Can people continue to post pics in normal threads so long as no blatant canvassing?

5.  Is Bribery and Extortion allowed???????????????? (Joke)

Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 17, 2007, 17:30:10 PM
Thanks for the questions Dave cos they are ones that many will be interested in.

First the same photo can be entered in many classes as long as it is appropriate.

Second, yes you can tart the pictures up if you want but nothing must be added like a toy, another cat, a bed etc etc. The pictures should be real not fabricated and the thing to remember is this is a cat show not a photo show, so I hope that peeps will judge the cats no matter the quality of the picture.Of course a totally out of focus or very dark or light picture where we cant see the cat, will not help the cats chances  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Being a lousy photographer, I have loads of those kinds of pictures

Sorry Milly we have decided that Bridge babes are not eligible cos it was felt that it was a bit insensitive to judge those on the Bridge.

I bet he had a wonderful tum and I would love to seee it  ;D

Minimopsicals story will be posted up shortly. although it is in the Cat Show thread right now.......................dont want to give game away yet  ;D ;D and let cats out of bags .......................gosh I may be in trouble now .............................runninggggggggggggg  :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Only just seen these LInda................am I wishing I hadnt

1.  What is a catless cat show  One where cats are not present!

2.  No Canvassing in Chat - are you trying to get my bengals banned  Would I  :evillaugh:

3.  When does 'no canvassing' rule start from? There can be no canvassing until the canvassing thread opens

4.  You say no pics?  Does this rule apply to the official canvassing thread only?  Can people continue to post pics in normal threads so long as no blatant canvassing?Pictures can be posted on Purrs as normal butttttttttttttttttttttttttt if I find peeps suddenly shoving up loads of pictures for cats who will be entering the Cat Show , so that it is canvassing in effect, a very dim view will be taken and it is highly likely these cats will be banned from entering show as owners or carers are trying to sneak round the Cat Show rules

5.  Is Bribery and Extortion allowed???????????????? (Joke) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.................and thats not a joke

Sorry Milly we have decided that Bridge babes are not eligible cos it was felt that it was a bit insensitive to judge those on the Bridge.

Oh that's such a shame, is this decision set in stone - what about if me and Milly's Mum start a petition?!  :evillaugh:

If you can get a lot of signatures , I will think about it.  ;D

I just dont want to upset anyone whose babe is on the Bridge and doesnt win. I do not think I would enter Kocka cos she too special to me and I dont want her only picture used in a competition. To me she is the bestest ever cat and friend and dont need her in a cat show now.

Can I ask who will be Judging? Also will the owner of the cat in the  pic be known at the time of the Judging? We had a Catless cat show and the judges did not know at the time who owned the cats to ensure complete fair play.
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 18, 2007, 13:43:11 PM
Ummmmmmmmmmm Ela, please read the bit called JUDGING in the rules

Many of the cats are very well known on here Ela and we all know who owns them. The canvassing week will also tell peeps who owns the cats.

I havent yet decided what info is going on with the cat picture and its name but likely the owner.

Because of the way the judging is being done if enough peeps vote than any bias will be ruled out. I hope people will vote for the cats not the owners!

However when I send the two Champion Cats to Colonel Beau I will just send Pictures with Cat name.......................although of course he can come on Purrs and look!  ;D

gill, how come the age of the cats is decided on 1st July this year - seems odd with the photos being submitted from 1 May!! Surely it should be the day the comp starts? And what's the deal with canvassing??
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 22, 2007, 17:13:07 PM
I July is the date I decided on  ;D.............it gives a slight leeway for people.

What do you want to know about the canvassing  Desley, specific questions please  cos I could right a book

Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Desley (booktigger) on March 22, 2007, 17:22:22 PM
Ah right - I would have just thought it woudl be the date of the competition, not 2 months later, as some cats will then be technically in the wrong category.
I just dont understand it - why would you want people to be able to go on about their cats before the competition, surely it should go off the picture they see for that category, nothing else? And the fact that we can have one vote in a category is wrong in my opinion, you shouldnt' be allowed to vote for your own cats.
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 22, 2007, 17:37:00 PM
The aim of this Cat Show is to raise loads of money, to do this we need loads of interest. Soooooooooo by having a week of canvassing before the voting begins this will hopefully bring on board as many of Purrs members as possible. It should be a manic week which leads straight into the voting. It is not compulsary and will be just good natured fun, if you do not want to be involved you dont have to but I bet the thread will have loads of posts and even more reads  :evillaugh:

The aim is for it to be good fun, better than a general election, and i am sure that owners who want votes for their cats will be quite imaginative, within the rules

You do not have one vote in each category you have 3 and that is why people can use one vote for their own cat. I did write that correctly in the rules didnt I?

I am sorry you do not like the age class rules but they are staying as written...................its an even playing field, everyone works to the same rules love em or hate em  ;D

I am afraid I personally will not be voting, there is no way I could pick out one cat above another. If I voted for one I would feel guilty and then give them all a vote therefore wiping out the effect of my vote.
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 24, 2007, 18:23:33 PM
Ela, thats just plain daft sorry!

You cant vote for all  cats so effects of a vote cant be wiped out.

This is a cat show and we need winners and if everyone on Purrs refuses like you to enter into the spirit oh the show and vote then we make no money for Minimopsical and we also have no fun.

If people dont vote the panel of judges is gonna have to work very hard, are you trying to scupper the Cat Show Ela?

Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on March 25, 2007, 14:08:35 PM
Sorry for being a bit thick but I'm still a bit confused!  If Tiggy was alive now she would still be 18 which is the same age she went to the Bridge so her being a Bridge babe isn't whats confusing me with the age thing.

Say the cat show had happened in January this year, she would have been 18 so therefore I would have entered her in the purrfect pensioners category - would the pic have to be of her when she was old enough to be in that category ie) one taken when she was 16 or over or can I enter any pic - say one taken when she was 5?

Thanks and sorry  :shy:
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: DaveD on March 25, 2007, 14:15:45 PM
My query is much the same, but at the other end of the age range. Bramble will be a year old this April but most of my photos of her will have been taken before then. If I enter pics of her as a 1 year old she'll have an unfair advantage, as she still looks like a kitten.
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Gill (sneakiefeline) on March 25, 2007, 14:21:31 PM
No not a daft question at all  ;D

In all age categories the age must be current so for Tiggy it would be age 18yrs and picture for an age category must be for that age.

Any other category, say gorgeous gingers, would be any age in a picture...........um there isnt a gorgeous ginger category , just  ginger/red one

I think you have wonderful pics of 18yr old Tiggy so this shouldnt be a problem for you and I know you have loads of others but dont know age  and there are so many categories to choose from.

So to clarify for Bridge cat owners , the age at which they passed to the Bridge would be their current age and thats the age needed in a pictuire for and age related category only. Bridge cats are being treated the same as any other cat, so the age classses and age in pictures for them apply in the same way.

I hope thats clear Helen but if not ask me another and I will try answer so it clear  ;D
Title: Re: Here we can discuss the Rules for the Cat Show
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on March 25, 2007, 14:28:12 PM
Thanks Gill, I think I get it now!  If you are entering the age categories the photograph entered must be:

i) Taken during a period when they were that age ie) in my case any photos of Tiggy aged 16 or over are acceptable for the purrfect pensioners class.

ii) The class entered must correspond with the age of the cat now/when they crossed to the Bridge

Which is how having the age set for after the entry date makes no sense, for the reasons Dave posted - his cat will be younger than the category she will be then, so the pics are of younger cats.
