Latest arrival, Jessie, has just been collected from the RSPCA.  She is only just a year old, heavily pregnant and RSPCA are now so full they had to keep her in a basket until I got there.

Although RSPCA, they are an independent centre so are still taking in animals handed in by owners, such as Jessie.  Only this morning they took in 8 kittens, two separate litters, taped in a cardboard box.

Jessie is now settled in a pen, recovering from her ordeal today and I expect her, by her size, to give birth within the next week.

She said she was keeping her but I don't know if that was true or not now.

Aww Lesley u did everything you could for these poor little ones. Maybe if the lady had given you the full story that may have helped you but you did all you could. At least these two got some love and care :(

Little Solstice really is a special boy...I hope he continues to grow strong in memory of the other little ones that didn't make it.

*hugs* to you Lesley and RIP little ones xx

Well I don't feel as if I am doing a good job. :'(  The week ended as badly as it began.  Mufat and Isner were fine when I fed them at midnight but come 2 am feed and found Mufat dead in their little bed.  No signs of anything, just passed away.  Checked Isner, fed her and she seemed okay but come 4am feed and found her bleeding from the mouth - five minutes later she was gone. :'( :'(

These kittens were supposed to have been from a c-section on Thursday evening but all this time I have wondered if I was told the truth.  The kittens were much bigger than Solstice and he is now five days old (though I know he is a very small kitten), their ears were already opening up and they looked like their eyes would open any day.  When I went to pick them up, the lady already had them ready at the front door in a box, I did not really enter the house so did not see mum at all.
Also they had already lost their umbilical cords. (I don't know how short vets cut them etc in a c-section).

I believe these kittens to be older than I was told which makes me wonder why was I told this story and what really happened?  It does not change their tragic death and I can't see it's worth chasing the woman up who passed them to me as if she didn't tell me the truth when I got them, she's not going to tell me anything now.

On a happier note, Solstice, my little miracle, still going well.

Solstice weighed 88g today so put on 8g in one day so he is obviously eating enough. :Luv2:

Today he has been joined by Mahut and Isner, two tabbies, Mahut a boy and Isner a girl (I know it's not quite right but hey ho  ) who were born by ceasarian section yesterday evening.  Apparently, mum had three stillborns and these two but she has no interest in them and has been hiding under the bed since they were taken home.  They have done nothing but SCREAM since they got here!!!! but they have eaten and pooped (not sure whether their human mum had pooped them previously so screams may be due to a bit of constipation.)

Also had a call from the RSPCA asking if I could take three kittens, 5 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks who had been removed from a house where there were 19 cats.  However, RSPCA lady was kind enough to tell me they were recovering from cat flu so I told her it would not be fair to my babies to bring a known cat flu kitten into the house.

Will post piccies of Mahut and Isner later on, need to feed everyone here at the mo, including me.

Have the timer set for every 1 1/2 hours so that I have time to prepare his milk so he is eating every two hours. :tired:

Is that all through the night too?

Little Solstice is holding his own, even cried for his feed this morning before I was ready.

Is peeing and pooing so insides seem to be working.

I did try him on a slightly larger syringe last night as he was drinking his 2ml and sucking for more but if I take the teat out to fill the syringe up he didn't want it back in.  Larger syringe did not work very well though and I did not want to force food into his lungs  so I have gone back to 2ml.  Cimicat says 2 - 2.5ml is enough each food for the first few days so I don't think he is going without and he normally falls asleep soon after feeding, so I am keeping everything crossed at the moment.  At least he is getting more sleep than me.  Have the timer set for every 1 1/2 hours so that I have time to prepare his milk so he is eating every two hours. :tired:

What a heartbreaking day for you.   :'(  Hope little Solstice will be ok and so sad for the others that didn't make it.   :'(  Everytime i hear of someting like this (which seem to be almost daily!) i feel so sorry for the mommy cats who just disappear and will have to go through it all again, and it's all over the country!  :( This is apart from the lucky ones like Gillian's Chico that make it into rescue.  :Luv2:) I really don't know how you rescuers cope with it every day-you all deserve knighthoods!!!      (And loads of money to help out!)
