They give out little tester packs of id or sensitivity, a bland meal is much easier to digest after a GA so by giving a pack it encourages those who wouldnt cook chicken or fish to feed something appropriate. Personally i dont bother with them as im happy to treat with chicken, i save them for when theres a real need

I have never used the blooming collars ...just kept an eye on things. although sometimes not enough as issey removed her own stitches after a few days

Glad she's fine. I think those buster collars are a blinking nuisance!

Skye walked backwards with hers on. When we took it off she didn't even bother with the stitches. We also were advised to give ours chicken or fish afterwards - is the vet food after a spey a new thing?

Have taken the lampshade off now, poor thing was knocking her food and water all over the place so far she's paid no attention to her wound so i think she'll be fine. Her and Penguin are friends again too, caught Penguin sniffing her bum earlier, then she looked at her as if to say "oh it's YOU, why didn't you just say so?"

Think the anaesthetic has worn off now too, she's no wobbly any more and seems much better. An unexpected plus is that she's been sooooo soppy! Every time i've gone upstairs she's jumped on my lap and refused to budge.

Awwwwwwwww poor girl...they should have put a bandage on her leg until it had stopped bleeding.

I am sure that special food from the vets is not needed normally.

10 days will go very quickly and she is cute

I only had to go back once - not sure why she needs special food I think I had to feed Tilly cooked chicken having said that though Tilly was audible in the background when I phoned the vets at 1pm that day and I didn't pick her up until 5pm by which time she was bouncing around again

Oh my poor little girl

just collected her and she is such a sorry sight bless her. Bloody leg from the needle, enormous shaved bit, and a buster collar on

(will remove that soon and see how she is without it.) She's really wobbly and feeling very sorry for herself. But has forgiven me for leaving her and hobbled over and draped herself on me and gave me a little purr

she's got some crappy vet food which i have to give her for dinner too

she will not be amused 'cos she likes her jelly.

Oh and to add insult to injury Penguin hissed at her and has now puffed herself up like a porcupine and refusing to look in Ginny's direction.

Have to take her back in 2-3 days for a check up, and 10 days for stitches taken out, (forgot to ask for dissolvable

) is it normal for them to have two checkups? I was quite surprised as i thought it was a much smaller op for cats than for dogs.

They aren't charging for them so i can't just blame them being greedy (for once!

)

They just phoned, she's been done already and i should be able to collect her at 2ish.

all went perfectly to plan.

Now just have to wait (im)patiently and put up with Penguin yowling for her sister.

Well she's there, not a happy girl despite RR.

She obviously remembered the vets too 'cos she freaked when she saw the box and i've been savaged in the process.

Normally i'd have tempted her inside with food but obviously couldn't do that and i've paid the price.

Now have to put up with a lonesome Penguin mewing at me all day!

Rescue remedy can be rubbed into the outer ear for a more guaranteed dose - two small drops on each outer ear. I'm sure she'll be just fine

No idea about arnica, they heal so quickly theres no need for any extras

Its a 5 minute op and she will be over it very quickly, i prefer for the wound to be glued then stitched, it avoids having to use a cone if they are a nibbler! Would be worth asking your vet if they can do that

Cant help ref the arnica tablets, but i had my little oriental Kali spayed 2 weeks ago and i was an absolute mess with worry

and all for nothing she was right as rain the next day and back to her usual monsterous self within 3 days

so please try not to worry to much

Can't believe it's come around so quickly

when i booked it it seemed like ages away but looked at the date today and realised it was this tuesday coming

i'm going to be a nervous wreck

if it was Penguin i wouldn't be so worried 'cos she's just so chilled and soppy that she looks on everything as an adventure, but Ginny reallllly doesn't like new people or places so she's going to be so sad being left at the vets, bless her.

Is there anything i can do to make it easier for her? I have feliway spray so i'll use that in her box but not sure if there's anything else which would help. Also this may seem like an odd question, but can cats have arnica tablets? I've used them on t'doggies when they've had to have their ops and i'm sure it helped them.
