Never trust builder's estimates concerning how long a job will take; it usually takes double the time they say.

So true.

I'd take them to your mum's, maybe stay there yourself too.

I wouldn't trust five blokes you don't know that well to be alone with your cats. Some men don't like cats. Some are ignorant oafs.

They'll be safe at your mother's, and you can spend evenings with them so that they won't be too upset. Does she live very far from you?

Otherwise, a cattery; although this won't be a homely and, unless you've used it before, you can't guarantee the level of care they'll be given.

Never trust builder's estimates concerning how long a job will take; it usually takes double the time they say.
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

As you will be paying can't  you insist that they only do one room at a time?
I had fun when we had new central heating about 3 years ago but the workman were very understanding to my needs.

Hi forever. I'm in same boat in a few weeks time and, whilst I understand how you feel about the cattery option, on balance I've decided that will be the least stressful option for 2 of my boys. They will be sharing a pen and it's only for 4 nights. Having central heating and bathroom done at same time so will be in uproar for a week.  I'm assuming Tom will be OKish as he is older and wiser and certainly deafer than the other 2. He is also quite friendly with people compared to Billy and Freddie. I think it's horses for courses really. You know your cats best and how stressed they are likely to be with noise and strangers in the house.

I would put them somewhere - I tried not to have any fosters when I had the heating and windows done - didn't happen, and I had to put hte foster in a cage in the front room, covered up (mine could go out), and it was a nightmare, I really wouldn't recommend it!!
Please spay your cat

Your mums sounds like a good idea but hasn't she already got cats of her own. Could be a major headache for her and the cats

Personally I'd get them out of the house, whether it be at your mums or a cattery.  Apart from the paint fumes, they will be stressed by other people in the house and there's also the chance the decorators will let them out of the kitchen.  They'd no doubt be stressed in cages too.

I would take them to your mums. I wouldn't trust any workmen or their dozy assistants.

Even if they are in crates they would still be stressed having strangers in the house.  If your Mum is happy to have them at her's then I would probably go for that option first otherwise I would go for a cattery.  I would rather have stressed kitties than kitties that had escaped.

I wouldnt trust five men not to open the kitchen door!
I think a cattery is the best option for their health as well as safety of escape. You can visit everyday with most catteries.
Shutting them in a cage together would probably result in fights and more stress. Mine all love each other but 3 in a large cage would be chaos!

We are having our house all decorated very very soon
and the decorater reckons him and four of his young lads who work for him will all come in and do a room each instead of doing it one room at a time
now obviously they r going to be in and out and the windows would have to be open with the paint fumes

re my babys
if u were me would u
put them all in the kitchen ( which i dont really want to do tbh ) ???
take them all to my mums (again i wouldnt like up rooting them theyd be scared ) ???
forget the decorating  ????? lol
or i was gonna buy some huge dog crates the ones that are big enough for shepherds and rottis  and put 3 in one and four in the other with there litter trays and food and obviously when the painters had gone home at 5 then let them out as normal

id like some advice on this please
as i dont know what to do for the best

oh and id not consider putting them in a catterie for a week as id not want strangers looking after them and defo couldnt live a whole week without seeing them id go crazyyyyyyyyy
