Title: Protect Chagos, one of the greatest marine environments left on Earth
Post by: Sam (Fussy_Furball) on January 15, 2010, 14:27:44 PM
The Chagos archipelago is a very special and rare place – a relatively unpolluted and undisturbed part of the Indian Ocean, with its islands, reefs and waters still teeming with life. And one click from you will help save it.

ZSL is part of the Chagos Environment Network, a collaboration of nine leading conservation and scientific organizations.

The Chagos Islands have belonged to Britain since the 1814 Treaty of Paris and are constituted as the British Indian Ocean Territory.

Protecting this area, by creating a conservation area comparable with the Galapagos or the Great Barrier Reef, would be a major contribution by the UK to global marine biodiversity conservation.

Please add your details to the petition on our campaign site: www.protectchagos.org

This will register your support for the creation of a Chagos no-take Marine Protected Area and encourage the British Government to make it a reality.

With your help, we can make a difference.

Thanks

I've signed this: I'm sure I've signed another similar initiative on Chagos but they'll no doubt de-dupe the list if I have.
