Ross the vet has just phoned to say they want to keep her in over the weekend. She's a very poorly little thing and as he's on call this weekend, she will be closely monitored by him.
They are giving her regular sub-q's and feeding her water and bits of food.
he also said at the moment he is not happy to let her back into a multicat household as he has not ruled out anything contagious.
They have the details from the pdsa , so they know what has been done to date.

breeder is sending me emails saying i have given out her email address which i never gave it to anyone and that if i had got portia put to sleep like she told me to do there would of not been any of this upset , feel like smacking her one :censored:

A scum of the earth type breeder that I would happily PTS >:(
She is obviously only in it for the money and has no compassion for cats whatsoever >:(
I think she should be reported to the relevant authorities.
I emailed the breeder. I got her name off the pedigree form and just searched on the internet. She has a few ads around and currently has a kitten list open. It was not a nasty email. I told her Portia was at the vets and did she want to be kept informed of the outcome incase it affected her breeding stock. I also enquired if she was registered.
She replied she would like to be kept informed and that she was not registered.
I have also emailed GCCF and enquired about protocol - I have read somewhere about not allowing registered animals to mate with unregistered. If this is true then the owner of the sire may get their knuckles tapped very lightly.
lisa,i cannot see anything wrong with the email you sent angie , i guess maybe she is feeling guilty or something , oh dear sorry about wrong card i have portia's here can you post rosie's to me and i will post you portia's :) or if you would like to collect portia's im in all weekend :)
my email in full - curt but nothing else.
Hi
just thought I'd let you know that the poorly kitten you gave away has now been signed over to coventry cat group and is fighting for her life this afternoon.
if we manage to identify what is wrong with her, do you wish to know as it may affect your breeding stock.
I am sad that you were happy to hand over a poorly kitten - i assume you are not a registered breeder?
Angie
Coventry Cat Group
btw - you gave me Rosies vac. card.
rosie has been in the vets when we took portia and she is fine :)
I am sorry to say this but I am starting to feel like I as a cat lover who also wants the best for my poor baby portia, is starting to be judged as a person who is incapable of taking care of a kitten. As i have explained the situation before. It was the hardest decision I have had to make signing my baby over, But iI believe that it was the best decision for Portia as I know she will now get the care that she needs and deserves. Rosie has been checked out with injections and blood tests and given the all clear!!! >:(
Ive been wondering about her too .....
More positive vibes for Portia~~~~C'mon sweetie you can do it!!! :Luv:

i had a feeling everyone on here was after her , glad she is feeling better :) for portia

Is Portia not a ragdoll ?
The VN will have a fight on her hands with a few on here I am sure
according to her certificate she is a bsh - I didn't really get to see much of her on thursday, just picked her up and went straight to the vets.
I was sure Lisa said she was a Raggy, oh well must be me going mad in me old age
I'd have her like a shot LOL! (did I really say that?!!! :evillaugh: )
Think they've been to busy treating the symptoms - I've got 2 cats in to be spayed on Friday so hopefully will learn more then.
I'm going to send a thankyou card when thing look more settled (would do now but don't want to jeopardize anything!). I shall create one via moonpig with a pic. of portia on the front and "thankyou for helping meowt' (one of their standard sayings) and the inside will say something with a list of sigs. A large card is £6 and then of course the biccies to go on top of it ......so if anyone would like to add their thanks you can pm me with something to put on the inside of the card. If you would like to add a message of thanks then a £1 donation via our site would be good.
there is a charity choice link on our website which will (hopefully) point you to covcats - ignore the large amounts , one pound is a perfectly acceptable amount!

Keep at it, Angie. I'd love Portia to go to a trained professional that she's bonded with while getting back to good health! :)
She was telling me how she will only eat while being stroked :Luv2:
It will be lovely if the VN does have Portia, couldnt think of a better home. (well possibly with Gill :naughty:)
Go on Angie, go annoy the vets, we all need our Portia daily update fix :Luv2:
Ross has just phoned and he says it looks like FIP.
He is going to try and get this confirmed. Once it is, I will inform the breeder as obviously this is contagious and the rest of her cats/kittens may well be infected.
what a sad week this is. Jill told me that Tigar (the oldie that went to the pub) and Ellie (BSH that I started a thread either here or cat chat ) died yesterday. Tigar of a heart attack and Ellie of complications after a stroke. Not a good time to be one of our cats! :(
breeder is sending me emails saying i have given out her email address which i never gave it to anyone and she that if i had got portia put to sleep like told me to do there would of not been any of this upset , feel like smacking her one :censored:

Do you mean you're going to wait to introduce a new cat into the household? Sorry, just trying to clarify.we are going to at least wait for confirmation on portia but i would like to get another at some point in the future
Rosie has just been spayed hasn't she? This makes her vulnerable, and she really doesn't need the additional stress of another cat/kitten being introduced now - it could tip her over the edge.
Rosie is not showing any symptoms of FIP so we are going to wait and see what the vet says on Portia as there is no definative diagnostic test a vet can do and can only be detected with a biopsy or autopsy
Oh how very sad. My heart goes out to Angie and to Lisa - and with hindsight we can all say that taking on a poorly kitten when you have limited finances may have been an error of judgement , but Lisa cared enough to give Portia a chance , took her to the vets (PDSA vet is still a vet who has still got the same qualifications - I know some private vets who are blimmin rubbish!) and cared enough to give Portia up when she couldn't help her any more.
I'm sure she is devastated and the last thing she needs now is people pointing the finger. There are many people (incluing the breeder by the sounds of it) who wouldn't even have tried to give Portia a chance. :'(
:Luv2: awwww :'(
....and do you really believe that by taking the gorgeous b&w kitten off your signature means that he/she wasnt seen by anyone?
I cannot belive how you are all joining pet forums just to view my profile
He says Portia had feline enteritis.
QuoteHe says Portia had feline enteritis.
How sad and such a worry.I and I expect others especially in rescue have seen whole households wiped out with this terrible disease.
What I would say to anyone who has had a cat/kitten in the home with this terrible disease is to discard toys, dishes, trays, bed and other equipment used by the cat/kitten.
I understand the virus can live for up to a year outside the cat/kittens body so if anyone does not want to wait that long before getting another cat, it's probably safer to adopt a fully vaccinated adult cat rather than a kitten
A truly awful disease, please keep a close eye on rosie as vaccination doesnt provide 100% protection :(
I wish your new animals the best of luck and hope if they get ill they will be seen by a vet immediately.
Hiya
Yes we are , can you give me some info on him please , Where abouts are you as i have no transport to collect .
regards lisa
Personal attacks and nasty remarks are NOT what we are about on here.Point taken :shy:
