Title: LOST CAT - Heathfield Estate in Duxford/Whittlesford area - NOW HOME
Post by: Decadia on March 18, 2009, 13:41:41 PM
Our much loved pet cat went missing from our garden after a run in with another cat on Friday 13th March 2009 at around 11pm - She is a very very pretty sandy grey shorthair tabby female with distinctive stripy markings/swirls with fluffy caramel coloured belly.  She has an angular head and big ears and green eyes. She does go outside although she is mostly a home cat - preferring indoors. It is totally out of character for her to be gone this long.

She is around 4 years old. She is friendly and talkative and is quite bold with people.  She likes to get in small spaces/cupboards and is very curious of garages/sheds

A reward is offered for her safe return - please get in contact through the website.

thanks so much for the supportive message - I have been working my way through all of the tips you suggest yesterday and today and am coming to the end of that list - I don't know what else to do.

We postered the whole neighbourhood last night and I have been phoning round everywhere today.  I just can't think of anything else. Devastated.

We got our furbaby Poppy home after being AWOL for 8 long days and they only way that we found where she was was by leaflets I had posted around not once, not twice but for a third time all to the same area in 1 week and only the third time was a leaflet seen by the lady that phoned and lead us to the rescue of our furbaby.

Don't worry about bugging people with your posters and leaflets.

The lady said she never ever went to the shop I gave a leaflet to for the third time but that fateful morning she did for the first time and for that last week had been aware of Poppy in her office and trying to catch her and someone in her office was all set to take Poppy home as her own when and if they caught her until she saw my leaflet and then out two and two together, made three and phoned me.

Please do not underestimate leafleting as it lead us to our baby.  Just keep churning them out.

I'm betting that she ran away as fast as her legs would carry her, got herself disorientated and then holed up in a shed or similar.  Door knocking might be the way to go - ask people to look in their gardens while you wait.

Is there an obvious route away from your garden that she might have taken in a hurry?

I know how you feel, but try to stay positive

One of mine went missing for six days last year. Total devastation.

I printed some posters on my pc and put quite a lot up in shop windows.

Got a call from someone to say cat had been seen in the town centre!!!!!

Same day as phone call cat just turned up outside front door and starting
meowing as loud as possible.

Never give up hope.

Unfortunately - nothing.  We had a few supportive replies from our neighbours from our poster campaign but there have been no sightings.  Somebody in the area saw an unfamiliar cat - but said that she was wearing a collar with a bell.  Moko doesn't wear a collar - but we thought in a moment of paranoia maybe someone had put it on her to claim as their own but I just can't imagine anyone doing such a  thing.  We have been round to check it out but there have been no more sightings.

I felt like a right nutter yesterday - tipping my hoover bag all over the garden and rubbing her scent from her toys on the fences and paths nearby but at  the moment just don't care what anyone else thinks.  We have my husbands stinky socks pinned to the gate in the hope that she will catch a whiff of them and come back to us. Terrified to think what has happened to her - and keep making a fool of myself at work feeling very tearful all the time - I can't concentrate on anything!

Thanks for checking back in with me though. Will keep searching - I can't give up until I know what has happened - even if it is the worst news.

:Luv:  GOOD NEWS!!! WE GOT HER BACK!!

Wonderful news!!! We are overjoyed to have our miss kitty back home with us! She was found in someone's garage after being locked in for 9 days.  We got her back last saturday - I have been unwell this week and unable to access a computer otherwise I would have let you know much sooner!!!

She had been locked in a careless neighbour's garage.  The neighbour (if that is the right word for him) had shut her in and ignored all the posters, leaflets and our requests to check in his outhouses.  He we angry at us that the poor creature had pooped in his garage and made a mess.  He wanted the reward we offered which we duly gave as it was promised on our poster campaign (she is insured so I can claim it back next month) but we refused to clean up the mess - maybe he will bother look next time when we and several other neighbours ask him to do.

She is safe and well - absolutely starving and a bit skinny and dishevelled but otherwise well (and glad to be home).

Can't believe she is home - thank you to all who offered advice and messages of support - it was totally invaluable in such a hard time.
