Update: I have now moved out of my flat and have put it up for sale. Although Socks and Tim are still being fed daily they are missing out on human company and I really would like to find them a new home in the next few weeks to avoid having to take them to a rescue when I sell my flat. I'm not looking for anyone to take them temporarily at the moment, I'm just asking that you all keep your eyes and ears peeled for a loving new home for them please. :thanks:
Socks and Tim are black and white, short-haired, cross-breed brothers, approximately 10 years old. They are fit and healthy, not overweight, fully house trained, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and micro-chipped. Although they are brothers and are quite close (they love to play-fight and will often curl up and sleep together), they have very different personalities. Socks is very friendly, a bit soppy, loves attention and will eat pretty much anything! Tim is a beautiful, proud looking cat (looks like the 'Felix' cat) who is happy but very wary of people and so spends much of his time outside. I got Socks and Tim from a rescue home when they were 10 months old and suspect they may have been mistreated hence Tim is confident with other cats but scared of humans (although he is more confident when his Brother is around). Both cats, especially Tim, are very independent and provided they have access outdoors (via a cat flap or similar) then they will not take much looking after aside from feeding them once a day. Ideally they would suit a single person, a couple or an older family who can give them lots of love and attention. They are not used to children and Tim has a tendency not to get on with other pets. Sorry but I would not consider homing them separately.
I am looking to re-home them as I am moving into rented accommodation with a view to moving abroad next year. Please note, I will DEFINITELY carry out a homecheck because I love them to bits and want to make sure they will be happy and well looked after in their new home. Although I am based in Kent, I am prepared to travel (and will deliver) for the right home. :thanks:
For more information, photos or to arrange to see Socks and Tim please contact me by email sarastone_@hotmail.com or on 07872 934490. They are situated in Herne Bay, Kent.

Hi Sara, sorry you can't take your cats with you, have you contacted local rescues to see if they can help with direct homing??
-
As it's not urgent at present I'd much rather try to home them myself and avoid the upset of moving them twice. No offence to anyone who runs one - you're all doing fantastic jobs - but rescue centres and catteries can be very stressful for cats who are not used to that sort of environment. I'd really rather not put them through that if I can help it.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate your comments.
-
sorry I didn't really make it clear, direct homing is where they advertise for you but the cats stay with you until the right person comes along
-
Ah, right, sorry I misunderstood - I'm pretty new to all this! Actually it was Sharon from Canterbury CPL who suggested I try this site, I'd never heard of it before. Sharon has kindly agreed to put ads on the CPLs website for me and will try to assist with direct homing if the right people come along. I've put ads up at my vet and I've emailed the details to family, friends and work colleagues and have asked them to pass it on. I've also put ads on a few other free-ad type sites that have pet re-homing sections - Gumtree etc. I did speak to one other local shelter (in Thanet for those of you who know where that is!) but they just offered to put the cats on their waiting list for the cattery - the lady said I was too far away (about 20 mins drive!) for her to send people over to see them. All very strange but I think she was quite elderly so I'll let her off, lol! :evillaugh:
I'd welcome suggestions of other places can try.

No interest so far :( Any ideas anyone?
-
These two need a happy, caring home where someone can give Socks lots of attention and cuddles and Tim lots of understanding and patience. They really are lovely cats and it's nice that they are so different because they compliment each other. It's funny to watch them playfight and the way they interact with each other.
I know someone will be able to offer them a great home, it's just finding that perfect person. :Luv:
-
can't believe there has been no interest in these two. That pink nosey woesy is just :Luv: :Luv: they look such a lovely pair of lads.
-
Thank you! Spread the word. Someone out there must want two gorgeous black and white puss cats!
-
Still nothing :(
-
Unbelievable these boys are stunning - God Love them xxxx
-
Well Ginger goes to her new home tomorrow so it's just these two left now. I'm sure they will wonder where she's disappeared to but hopefully they won't be too upset as they still have each other for company
Please can everyone keep their eyes and ears peeled for a good home for these two. As I've said before, I don't mind travelling if it's the right home, I'm delivering Ginger to Norfolk from Kent!
:thanks:

I love b&Ws and dont know how you could possible leave em. Sadly I am full .............dreams

Hi Gill,
I love them too, I've had these two for 9 years, but things change and I just don't have the time to give them the attention they deserve anymore. I work very long hours, plus I'm spending an increasing amount of time at my Boyfriend's house. I'm about to put my flat on the market and once it's sold I will be renting a place which as I'm sure most of you know, is pretty impossible to do when you have pets. My boyfriend and I also intend to emigrate to Canada at some point over the next few years and I wouldn't dream of putting my cats through the upheaval of moving across continents, especially with quarrantine etc. they just wouldn't cope with it.
All these factors have led me to take the decision to find them happy new homes where they can hopefully see out the rest of their lives with all the love and attention that they deserve. I'm sure there are lots of you thinking badly of me right now and I'm fully expecting the 'pets are for life' speech but believe me, it was not a decision I took lightly. I do feel incredibly guilty and sad that I'm giving them up but I want to do what's best for them and I know they will make someone else very happy.

Sharon at Canterbury CP has put me in touch with a man who sounds really nice and very interested. He's coming to meet the cats on Monday so fingers (and paws) crossed please!
Oh and Ginger's new owners have sent me a few texts and some photos - it looks like she's settling in really well and getting plenty of love and attention :Luv2:
-

We would like evidence :evillaugh:

The photos are on my phone and I have no computer at home at the moment because I've got builders in so unless they email me some photos as well you'll have to wait I'm afraid!!
-
Sara whats the update here as i send someone round to see these two on Monday?
-
Hi Sharon,
Mr Ellis came over on Monday and seems to be interested. He has asked me to 'hold' them for him and said he'll get back to me before the end of the week with a definite answer.
I will of course keep you all posted.

Any update Sara as butanother lady onto your yesterday who called me?
-
I still haven't heard back from Mr Ellis but I have arranged for the lady you mention, Claire, to come over today (Saturday) at 11am. Will let you know how we get on.
Many thanks,
Sara

Claire and her son really liked the cats so her partner is coming over tomorrow evening as it sounds like he has the deciding vote! Fingers crossed because they seem really lovely :)

How did it go sweetie?
-
I wasn't actually there when they came over (I get home from work quite late) so my partner dealt with it and typically the cats had been around all day but disappeared when the people turned up to see them and despite my partner calling them and shaking biscuits and all sorts, they didn't show up so in the end the people left. I thought that might have blown it but I received a response from the lady today saying she would see if her partner is free on saturday morning to come over and try again so there's still hope...
Never did hear back from Mr Ellis.
Sara ;)
-
Keeping everything crossed for Saturday then
-
Thank you!
-
Well it's Friday afternoon and I haven't heard from Claire yet. Without meaning to sound pessemistic, I think her husband was put off by the cats not being around last time he came over. Not having much luck re-homing these two! :(
-
If they are that easily put off then maybe they are not the right people for you, those who are willing to put themselves out show their commitment
Hopefully you will get a call when they return from work
-
Anything yet hun?
-
Got a text from Claire this morning saying that her husband can't make it over today but is still not keen on older cats and although her and her son both loved Socks and Tim she is worried that they won't cope so well without a cat flap. So basically it was a polite no.
Back to square one then! :tired:

At least you know and they were sensible enough to not take on an animal without thinking about it.
-
True.
Never mind, keep looking!

I delivered the cats to a lovely lady in Herne Bay (just round the corner from my old flat) on Saturday and I am confident she will give them a loving new home and they will be very happy there.
Thanks for all your help everyone.
