My aunts cat is disabled, she has a non maligment tumor in her leg, causes the leg to become stiff.

Now the problem is her cat tray, she wont go in it, to high. cos of not being able to lift her leg up over it, so she ends

up weeing on the floor. Im wondering if they make special cat trays for the disabled.

Any ideas??? will be great.

Why wont they remove the tumour?

They could try a tray, with small sides but would have to put some plastic underneath  to catch all the scratchings  ;D

Or could they make some steps up to it .............hmmmm they would need a step inside too

How high can she lift her leg

Would amputation not be an option? Three legged cats can manage a tray. Other options would be puppy pads, or something like a kitten tray

what is needed is a sunken tray - does she go out? is there a cat flap?

if there is a patio, how about lifting a slab and making an outdoor 'tray' for her, preferably by the back door - otherwise just dig a hole - if there is somewhere outside which is sheltered from the rain that would be ideal

But she wouldnt be able to get out trigger cos still has to lift he bad leg up.

I suppose a cat flap could be inserted at ground level, though I've never  seen it done

I meant get out of the sunken tray LOL..........yes I giuess should wouldnt be able to get out a cat flap either  :sneaky:

I  keep my outdoor loos filled with soil level with the surrounding patio so there is no climbing required

mind you, there's a lot of soil scattering :shify:

kittens trays are lower but smaller. You can buy seed trays that are shallow for any garden centre.
The other alternative  (but more expensive and not as good) is to buy puppy pads and a puppy pad frame.

personally I'd try the seed tray option.

Celia Haddon on her website suggests ordinary tray or baking tray - wouldn't hold much litter but at least everything would land in the right place ;)

I was thinking about lap trays, they have a bit of an edge but not too much.

You can get litter trays for rabbit hutches, the front is lower and the sides go up into the shape  ;)

You would have to check sizes, I dont know if there is one big enough for a cat  :)

Yeah, cos zoe shares her current tray with 2 other cats, so would be good to get one, that fits all...And stops zoe peeing on floor.

As its not a serious thing zoe has..thank goodness. She was able to keep the leg, she does manage to a certain extent...walking around etc: (but not using back leg) but when she stands still, she uses back leg.

If the leg is causing her an issue with toileting though, and there is a tumour, I dont know why the vet hasn't suggested amputation - they really do bounce back after it, and she would probably be much happier - I know a human in a similar situation who said it was the best thing she did

Maybe would be better to get the leg off, she may be able to move about easier  :)
