My day job is as a press and PR officer and with christmas coming up I'm offering to help anyone with any press releases they need writing, help on doing radio interviews, help with dealing with the media etc. Perhaps you have a long term resident you want to rehome, overwhelmed with cats or want to warn the public about not buying kittens as christmas presents, i'll help in whatever way i can
I dont mind helping out in anyway i can since its what i do during the day and enjoy doing it, just send me a message or email to fluffedkitty@yahoo.co.uk and i'll see what i can do

That's a really kind offer for anyone needing help :)

I agree unfortunately, we could have the purrfect topic and article about the most heartbreaking story imaginable, yet our local paper would not put it in, we have been told that the Editor is on the board of another rescue.
-
Really??, that's prejudice >:( and selfish.
-
but unfortunately quite common, quite often someone quite high up in a paper group will be involved with a charity and will not help others.
have you tried your local radio instead?
-
Thats a very generous offer Hels :thanks:
I wonder if it might be an idea to have a seperate `Offers' forum where we can all offer help or services etc ?
-
Unfortunately the local radio are as much use as the local Paper they will announce nothing unless you pay. Yet I know so many other loaall radio stations are very supportive to people in their areas.
-
thats ridiculous Ela, surely it would come under a news story but an advert. some press is really corrupt though to be fair
-
Our paper is more than happy to print articles like that.
I thought editors were supposed to be impartial!!
-
mmm, doesn't sound that way :(
-
editors usually are, they are in my area thank goodness. i have good press contacts in my area through my work so i'm quite lucky

Hi Hels,
We have 2 local papers. The smaller of the two is more animal orientated and has a regular column for local cats. The problem is that it is not always delivered. The other couldn't give a toss but has the larger readership. :grr:
I would be interested to know, using your experience, the best way to approach them and how to re-focus their thinking without threats of a fully blown thermo nuclear attack  ;D
