Title: Cat Blankets
Post by: Purdy Bear on April 04, 2013, 17:38:40 PM
I want to make some quilted stuff to improve my skill, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a kitty sized blanket but how big do they need to be?  Currently we don't have a cat so I can't measure it.

The heat reflective blanket I bought recently is 46 x 64 cm if that helps.  It's just long enough for Jaffa to lie stretched out on, although if he was really stretched out he'd be off the ends (in reality he likes to rest his head on the hot water bottle at one end!).  Curled up, they can both fit on it.  Last night they were both curled up together on it.

Afraid I am puzzled............are you about to get a cat?

You have asked about carriers and now want to make blankets, what are you going to do with the blankets?

I have the same reflective blanket as Susanne (although the packaging said it was 49cm x 64cm), there's some pics in this thread that show one cat and two cats on it so you can get an idea of size compared to a cat. Pics are in the first couple of posts.

Thanks for all the measurements.   ;D

The cat carriers was research into Maine Coons, my dream breed and the blankets are for my local rescue centres.   I'm just doing research into cats at present although my brother has other ideas.
