wow..... jasper hates paw washing! bless him, he's so good though, doesnt actually try to hurt us (just ends up scratching us cos he's trying to get away

thanks everyone

well, we're back. his bladder is tip top, as is his willy, so thats all great news, so think something is spooking him outside. she was really nice though and was saying its the best thing to take him to check, cos we all knows what can happen. think she was impressed i took him!

she was quite shocked at the state of his claws - and the one that was bleeding is still bad (he hasnt been letting me see it at all) and it STINKS sooooo.... luckily she doesnt think he needs anti-b's, but we have to wash all four feet with this pink stuff once a day for a week. just did the first session.... hmmmm!!!!! thankfully my dad was helping, but we ended up pretty soggy with a rather annoyed puss cat who is now in a huff washing himself.

the vet was laughing cos he wouldnt get in the box to come home, seemed to want to stay! and she said he was a gorgeous big boy and not at all fat

so apart from him being annoyed, he's pretty much ok

we also have a feliway diffuser, so hope that'll help.

Deff tell vet about the claws as that is a classic sign of an RTA

Does he have a litter tray? When the weather changes they dont always want to go out in the cold or he could be being bullied outside so doesnt feel safe to go

I would get him checked over, spilt/scuffed claws can be a sign of rta

Sounds like he might have cystitis. Blood in the urine is one of the symptoms, as is peeing outside the litter box. If he finds it uncomfortable to pee, he will associate the pain with the litter box and choose somewhere else to go - soft things like beds and clothes are common choices. Might be a good idea for a vet visit to at least exclude the possiblity. It seems to be that time of year for urinary problems - apparently they are more common in the autumn. I would get him checked over. several puds on here have had similar problems in recent weeks (inc my Jaffa).

they're such a worry.

please please dont anyone think i'm a bad mummy...

may i take you back to new years eve last year.... jasper peed on my parents bed - first time he'd ever had an accident and we just put it down to being frightened by fireworks.

jump to beginning of november - lots of fireworks going off round here. jasper runs in panting, really unhappy, scares me silly, but seems to calm down later one.

a couple of weeks ago he peed on my mums trousers which were on the floor. we did have the cat flap locked cos of fireworks, so thought maybe rather than actually let us know he needed out, he'd gone there.

monday.... i find blood on my bed sheets. panic. find jasper. he's fine in himself (soppy sod as usual

) check bum - fine, ears - fine, mouth - fine, claws - not fine. lots of them were sort of split, one was worse, and obvious source of blood, but other than him getting annoyed at me fiddling with his paws (as he always does) - he was fine. decided to keep an eye on him. had he been limping or showing any sign of distress or pain i would have take him to vets - but honestly - FINE!

tonight. he pees on parents bed again. no fireworks, no locked catflap - he just settled down on the bed with my dad and... peed. a big pee - so no probs with that. i squeezed him and he was fine, rolled over all playful and wanted a tummy tickle, purring like anything, fine.

so... whats he up to?
i'm so tangled what to do... he would go crazy if i kept him inside (i know lots of cats are fine, and i so wished he would be fine staying inside all the time but he adores being outside) but.... i dont know what wrong with him. he's is SUCH a skittish cat anyway, jumps at everything (unless he's eating - then very brave) and i'm getting so worried now. the other incidents seemed to have cause but lately... i have no idea. getting all tearful now

i cant work out if he's not happy or what... ... ...
