Still no sign. :( Keep the vibes coming.

All the local vets (bar my own that is permanently engaged) have had no admittance's matching Chi's description which I assume is a good thing. I've never had this happen so am panicking massively.

Flyers through doors on our street (we ran out and don't have a printer) and going to sort a poster tonight and hope someone will print it out.

Chi what the chuff are you playing at?  Get your sorry little Ass home and stop worrying your mum.  It's warmer at home  :Luv2:

As he's done it before it's not as worrying (OMG, who am I trying to kid) he's probably in the same place but it doesn't make it easier for you.

There's something out there that's keeping him away, I wonder if someone takes him in thinking he's a stray?  Does he wear a coller with contact details on?

Hope it works again Sheila  ;)

All my cats wear safety release collars - he and Darwin have blue reflective (because they're boys, obviously) and the girls have silver. Their names and a contact number are on tags that are easily readable. As soon as I notice any of them have lost their collar, a new one is put on. (I have a stash.)

He's not reappeared yet, but the weather is better so I'm hoping that if he managed to get himself stuck somewhere then the door will be opened so he can come home.

If he's not back by tonight I'll be flier posting in the morning. :(

Leaflets being posted as I type. Posters up, vets called.

I had to actively ignore The General last night and felt awful, but I know it's necessary because it may be a contributing factor to Chi going walkabout. I felt there was no other option.

The shelter that was sent for TG has been set up with permission in next door but ones garden while we find a permanent solution and the old man that lives there has agreed to pop out with food when he sees TG.

I just want Chi home now. :(

Well, JS, now you've had a chance to get over the surprise, how is he? Any clues as to where he's been?

I know of one cat who constantly wandered off for days on end always turned up smelling of perfume. Turned out a neighbour had decided she quite liked having a cat around and started feeding her  >:(

Trying not to worry because I've not posted on Purrs every time Chi Master has done this, but the weather is vile and I'm confused what possible plus there could be to staying out in it.

Please all send some Purrs vibes to get my boy back home.

Tuffers didn't come home last night either, JS, but at least I know he has a warm, safe garage he bunks off to when he can't get back here (too dim to use the cat flap).

Hoping Chi has a similar set-up and will come bouncing home when he's ready, as usual. Vibes in heaps coming your way...

I dont know what goes on in these little furry heads!

This time last year Sasa was out permanently except to pop in in the early hours, gobble her food and leave again, this year she is an indoor cat and has no inclination to go out at all.

I hope Chi has somewhere that he goes and cones back soon

Sending lots of 'get yourself home Chi' vibes.

He's probably doing the rounds of his former girlfriends wishing them all a Merry Christmas.   ;)

I can understand your worry Shonagh, I'd be exactly the same, but he is street-wise and I'm sure he won't come to any harm as a result of the weather.

Thanks JS - OH found him sitting outside when he went to work, damp but OK. :phew:
Wish I could get him through the flap but he won't be handled long enough to train him, and doesn't like chikkun as a tempter

It's so worrying when they go off, and although I'm no control freak, I can't sleep properly if there's one unaccounted for.

I have OCD...to some degree, I am a control freak. But I try very hard not to be with my animals. When things like this happen, the OCD flares up and my coping mechanisms get worse. But I refuse to make changes to the cats lives just to pacify my issues, so I suffer. ;) They're happy having their freedom and I'm not sure how fair it would be to confine a former stray.

Glad Tuffers is OK.

Fingers crossed he'll be home very soon  How about WHEN he comes back, put a paper collar on with a message if anyone is feeding him to contact you. Given his background I think it's very likely he's taking advantage of the hospitality elsewhere and at least if you had details of the people he's visiting you could put your mind at rest when he goes on walkabouts

JS, am sorry he's still AWOL.  We never know why sometimes our babies like to wander - we had a little slinky black and white female who was the very divvil for it (and she was neutered) but it's natural that we fret and worry - they're a slice of our soul, after all.  How can we not be upset?

Am sending strong "C'mon Chi - dont upset your Mom, it's almost Christmas, and you're wanted at home" vibes for you.

He's wearing a collar. All mine do, for the very reason I like to ensure that people can see they live somewhere. At present, it's a Christmas collar with little gingerbread men all over it.

They ARE a slice of your soul, aren't they? Blimey, I miss the brrpping. I need to hear it today or I think it'll get too much for me. (Or more than it has already.)

Thanks for the vibes, folks.

Private landline number.

Sheila, I've called sporadically since we missed the call with no joy. :( I got an answerphone message once but the message I left was somewhat garbled because on top of my boy going walkabout, someone up there thought it would be funny to give me a bug Christmas Day evening....This resulted in me spending most of yesterday passed out in bed and unable to put up the posters as I wanted to.

I'm still not 100%.

I just want him home. I miss him so much. :(

Thinking of you, and hoping Chi will come strolling back, wondering what all the fuss is about! do you have any neighbours who have gone away for Christmas and he could have got shut in garage, shed or house? Dillon spent 10 days in our neighbours house once when he went through their cat flap which had been set to "in only"  for them to catch their own cat before going away.

Just a thought - are you on Twitter JS??
If you are it might be worth contacting some celebs with cats and asking for a retweet.

Not on Twitter, Louise. (Well, made an account for Blackpool Cats in Care, but not for personal use.) Am on FB and people have been sharing.

Liz, I honestly don't know which neighbours might be on holiday. We aren't really a very close knit community. I have put flyers through every letterbox on our road and the next three. I am going to attempt posters today, but typically it is raining heavily and I'm just getting over a bug. I don't have an option though, because I feel useless doing nothing.

Also got the local radio to make broadcasts and posted on the local papers FB page to see if they'll help.

I wish I knew where he was Sheila. :( I'm not the type to get possessive of cats, no matter how loved they are because I recognise their free spirit. Part of the problem, eh? Couldn't like dogs this much could I...? :tired:

Thanks to everyone topping up the vibes. They're very much appreciated.

JS that's ok. As long as you have one put something together like "Please RT and help me find missing Chi" then you need to put a link to a picture with your contact details on.
Then tweet StreetCatBob and Sarah Millican. Ricky Gervais likes cats and there is also piethefatcat.
Happy to help if you want to  PM me

I don't know what else to try.  :(

Flyers distributed, posters up, radio agreeing to broadcast, currently bothering the local press.

Dumped loads of used cat litter at the bottom of the garden so there's a smell he knows really strongly and put one of my worn jumpers on the shelter outside.

What else can I do?

Have you registered him on National Pet Register as lost, Shonagh? Also, what about an ad in your local Bumtree Lost and Found section, and in the Pets section too? Much as I dislike the site some people only think to look on there.

If someone has "adopted" him for Christmas they should be thinking of letting him out soon, hopefully he'll make his way home quick sharp.

Can you pop a good photo on this thread too? I've got some time so I'll run some checks for you on the national lost and found ads - another pair of eyes hunting can't hurt can it?

Chin up. We'll find him.  :agree:

This is he. The Bear that is breaking me.....and making me potentially prematurely grey. I love him anyway.

No! Haven't posted on the National Pet Register. Or posted on Bumtree. But posts are flying about on FB. People are crossposting and bumping like the good 'uns they are. (There ARE nice people in the world....other than Purrs people. Hurrah!)

I hope he's let out of wherever he is if that's what's happened. Tonight would be good, but tomorrow would be fine too. I'm not a bossy individual.

I've had no joy yet, Shonagh, but will keep trying.

Needless to say many people only register a "found" cat a couple of weeks after they actually find it, because they are "trying it on for size", so's to speak  >:( So it is still worthwhile registering him on as many sites as you can think of and continuing to check these on-line sites such as NPR and AnimalSearchUK, Cats Protection and Yes, Bumtree aswell in case someone is holding him but doesn't want to let go of a lovely lad.

Incidentally there is a close lookalike for Chi posted as "Found" on AnimalSearchUK, only a few miles from you, so you may get calls relating to this cat. It's not him but I had to squint hard to be sure (hence the need for such a good photo!). Here it is, so's you are forewarned...my heart leapt for a moment :(

I knew straight away. My boys eyes are greener, very intense rather than startled. And he has a rather characterful rip in his right ear, a result of looking after himself before he moved in.

Thanks Sheila. Boy, I miss this lad. I hope, hope, hope all those people that are telling me he's on a jaunt or caught somewhere that's likely to be open any day now because it's after Christmas are right. I NEED to see him now, because this worrying is a nightmare.

It's so hard JS - so many of us know exactly what you're going through.  I cried every day and night for 7 months when my Smudge was missing and still do now after 5 years even though I know he's now buried in my garden.

The thing is with Chi is that he keeps coming home eventually and we all have to believe he will come home again.  He keeps choosing you to be with and he will come back.

Love Mary xx

I'm trying to keep the faith, Mary. Really I am. It's two weeks now and there's been a candle lit in my fireplace the whole time. Even when I was ill over Christmas, OH knew how important it was to me and kept replacing the candles that burned down.

Seven times previously, the longest a week.

It's now two. :( Where is he? :(

PS: :care: I know you will always miss Smudge.

My last cat, Jones, once disappeared for two weeks over Christmas and New Year. It was over 20 years ago but I still remember that Christmas really well, it was horrible. I don't think I gave up hope but it was hard to get through it.

When he eventually turned up, he was a lot thinner so I'm sure he'd got locked in somewhere.

Sorry. Was slightly exhausted last night, but wanted to let people know straight away.

So....about 12:30 I hear an exclamation from downstairs (no other word for it) saying "Chi!" in a rather happy tone. I assume I've finally lost the plot and am now imagining OH saying Chi's name, but decide it's worth getting up to check. (I'd gone to bed about quarter of an hour previously.) Start to walk down the stairs to be met by a very distinctive "brrppping" sound as Chi runs up the stairs at me.

He's skinnier, collarless (already remedied) and on closer inspection smells vaguely of oil. No wounds or damage as far as I can see. :) Downed some ham and chicken (him not me) and then got on with claiming his sleeping spots.

I want to thank all of you, not only for  the vibes but for some of the more private support.

Oh I'm SO pleased to hear that the wanderer has returned again  :wow:

As he seems to be a serial wanderer, I wonder if it's worth considering getting a loc8tor tracker attached to his collar?  Obviously it only works if they keep their collars on (although I suppose even an 'off' collar gives you a signpost as to which way they went), but it might be a useful addition?  Mine both have them and although they don't go far, they are still very useful especially after dark.  They don't have a great range, only 400ft unobstructed and FAR less if there are objects in the way, but I do feel reassured that I could wander round the roads and it would pick up if they were in any of the houses or gardens I walk past while looking.

For now though I bet you're thrilled that Chi is safely home  :wow:
