He is asleep on my knee as I type  :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:

I'm absolutely blissful. I feel so privileged to have him.

The girls have met and done the hissy sulky thing so now we are doing proper slow introductions a'la Wizz. My Daffy-cat is quite shy so I need to take it quite slowly and gently to make sure that she stays comfortable with the situation.

Well I found me phone cable so here we go:

First is our lad on his first night with foster mum Schmew, aged 3-and-a-bit weeks, she thinks.
Second, taken a few hours ago - being very cute and snuggly.

Well I don't have an Ollie any more but I have a Figaro instead now.  :Luv:

He'll be 9 weeks old on Friday and his foster mum was our very own Schmew, who has done a beautiful job with him.  ;D

Thanks for the update, Rebecca. Happy to hear that Ollie's putting on weight and hopeful that the steroids will do the trick for him again.

I meant to mention before, do you play any other instruments apart from the viola? I tried to learn the cello at school, but really?wasn't very good at it :-[ so I envy you that talent.

Funny Gill I broke a finger - the only bone I've ever actually broken - playing netball at school, too.

The grip thing is a teenytiny part of a fairly severe connective tissue disorder, though - I wear a splint on that hand which gives me a functional straight wrist but the fingers aren't much cop.

Ollie's visit to the vets was a bit of a fiasco - he started off swearing at me when I tried to put him in his carrier, swore at the vets some more, took his injection as quietly as a lamb but then went and did a great big poo in his carrier, which went EVERYWHERE. So then he had to go and have a shower in the vet's special bath and you can just imagine what he thought of that...

The vet thinks it may just be that the steroid has worn off, possibly because he's doing such a good job of putting some weight down - up to 3.6kg today, which is fab cos he's a big long cat and looked dreadfully skinny when he was down at 3.1. So he's had another jab and if steroids fortnightly keeps him happy and fit then that's what we'll do - he doesn't mind the jabs at all so if he keeps needing them I'll learn to do them - that would spare him the trip round the M60 every other week. So for now, no blood test - we'll review that if the steroids stop working so well. I'm not sure about the stress thing but I'll keep that in mind - you could well have a point there, Christine!

I agree, Ollie certainly is very special. I'll be interested to hear what the vet says and whether these episodes might have a stress-related component.

What's your latest thinking on blood tests for Ollie, Rebecca?

I know that problem Beccy cos I also dont have proper grip with left hand and cant adminster pills at all. Old netball injury LOL.....can still grip a netball or basketball but not anything smaller even a fork? ROFL.....great excuse cos only can hold it up side down now and great for peas.

Must be 15 yrs this month since I broke finger......amazing how a mini break can cause so many probs!!

I did wonder, Christine - he's also now a bit scared of my PA, Jess, which is a shame as it's her that gave him all his pills (I can't as I don't have any proper grip with my left hand).

He's not dreadfully poorly like before and he's still fairly cheerful - let me rub his tummy for a bit just now before he got bored and decided to try and bite me (he missed LOL), but I do want this all to be over.

Cheers for all your good wishes!

Oh poor Ollie.  :( I wonder if the carpenter upset him and triggered this episode?

:-\ Ollie started going round in circles a bit yesterday evening. We're off back to the vet today - he's nowhere near as bad as he was but it's horrid to see, I really want to get to the bottom of this - I don't think it's much fun for him.

Cheers Jane, Ollie is very well at the moment, thanks - although he wasn't too impressed with the man that came to put new floorboards down in my loo this morning!

A sneaky cuddle yesterday...

Hello. We're the Youngs. Sort of.
We have:
  • Me! Rebecca, 21, moosic student and future teacher.
  • Ollie. Rather elderly foster, has been very very poorly.
  • Daphne and Elettra - the girlies. Feral kittens born 18th June 2006, been with me since the 10th of September.
  • Oh and there's Harriet, our venerable spider who's about 5 years old and lives in the porch.
And we all live in Withington in Manchester.
 :)
